Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Moments Exploded

Zhang Beixing thought to himself. He had already imagined how those little trolls would react after seeing his video. Shocked, incredulous, astounded!

And then...

”Notice, upload failed. Your video contains sensitive content and has not passed the review.”

”Reason for rejection: Excessive violence.”

”Please make adjustments to your video.”

Looking at these three notifications that popped up on his computer, Zhang Beixing was stunned and felt like he was falling apart.

No way, what the hell is this!

”Although I don’t have evidence, I suspect you are deliberately making things difficult for me, Zhang!” Zhang Beixing said irritably.

It was supposed to be his shining moment, and it really was a huge loss for the netizens not to see it! But there was nothing he could do. It wasn’t his call.

Well, Douyin is shortsighted and not worth my time. Since I can’t post there, I might as well just post it to my Moments. Moments could also be a good place to collect suggestions, and I don’t have to worry about exposure issues... I refuse to believe it. Can’t a guy even post his own life updates without getting blocked?

With that, Zhang Beixing got straight to work.

Soon, in Zhang Beixing’s Moments, a post titled ”Online Gossip: War God Descends 1V5, Five Men Cry Out They Can’t Take It Anymore!” was shared.

Seeing the video pop up in his Moments without any issues, a satisfied smile finally appeared on Zhang Beixing’s face. Then he held his phone and started to refresh like mad. His thumb was almost sparking from the frantic swiping.

But half a day had passed, and not a single person had liked his latest update!

What kind of sorcery was this?

He had just been through a trip to the police station and had finally acquired that precious surveillance footage, and now there were no likes or comments? What’s the deal? Have you all cut off the root of your troubles and retreated to a monastery?

Zhang Beixing couldn’t understand.

He opened his classmates’ group chat and found the group was exceptionally quiet at the moment. Zhang Beixing immediately furrowed his brow.

This silence won’t do at all. Classmates should be more active; otherwise, how will they offer me any suggestions later...

So, he took his phone and quickly typed. Soon, a message was sent:

Zhang Beixing, ”What’s going on, did my phone get a virus? I didn’t accidentally post anything from my private collection to Moments, did I?”

After that, he moved on to the next group chat. It was ’A Close-Knit Family.’ Seeing the bustling chat, Zhang Beixing thought for a moment and typed, ”The weather is pretty nice today. Grandpas, grandmas, uncles, aunties, cousins, haven’t you taken a few beautiful photos and shared them on your Moments?”

......

After making the rounds through his classmate and family groups on WeChat, not half a minute had passed before Zhang Beixing’s phone started to chime and clatter non-stop. It was as if Xiao Ai were setting off firecrackers inside his phone. It was bustling with activity.

Hearing the commotion, Zhang Beixing hurriedly clicked in. After refreshing, he saw that his notification count had already hit 99+.

In the comment section of his own post, it was exceptionally lively.

Sophia Zhou, ”(Shocked) Beixing, you’re really impressive, defeating five people single-handedly! As expected of a martial artist. But... why are you wearing a security guard uniform?”

Lin Siqi, ”Thanks to Lao Zhang for lending a hand today. I’ll treat you to a meal tomorrow (smile).”

Zheng Jituo, ”Damn it, you lured people in just to mess with them, didn’t you? I saw the group chat and thought you really accidentally posted some valuable collectible. Turns out it’s just this? I’m so f***ing pissed at you!”

Jin Linyu, ”Damn, Lao Zhang, where did you find this surveillance footage? Man, you really managed to show off!”

A university classmate, ”Fraud! Blatant telecommunications fraud! Brothers who were tricked by this bastard, report him.”

A high school classmate, ”Haven’t seen you for several years, Zhang Beixing, and you’re still as shameless as ever. To get us to check your Moments, you really used every trick in the book in our group chat, from coaxing to deceiving. You’re really something!”

An elementary school classmate, ”Damn it! He specifically DMed me to come look. Man, I’m not even your buddy; I don’t even remember your name! Did you really have to go this far? When you show off, do you have to make sure the whole world knows?!”

Another university classmate, ”I heard from others that a while ago, Zhang Beixing was dumped by his ex-girlfriend because he was physically weak. And now he’s taking on five guys at once? You call *that* weak?”

His cousin, ”Wow, Cousin, you’ve really made a name for yourself! Beating up five people by yourself, so impressive! But why are you wearing a security guard uniform? You haven’t dropped out of school to become a security guard, have you? I suggest you quickly change the privacy settings for this post. Otherwise, if my uncle finds out, you can expect a thrashing with a belt when you get home.”

....

It exploded! Zhang Beixing’s Moments exploded!

Below his video post, the comments stretched into a long list. Just looking at them would take a good while.

The comments were all over the place; some complained about Zhang Beixing being an asshole, while others expressed how awesome he was. And the number of comments continued to rise.

Seeing this scene, Zhang Beixing’s vanity was satisfied as never before. He was filled with hope for the future, foreseeing that once he posted asking for advice on becoming stronger, various skill points would surely flood towards him.

He didn’t reply to any of the comments. He just lit a Huazi cigarette he’d swiped during the fight.

He took a deep drag, relishing the hot smoke traveling down his throat and into his lungs, gradually growing warm. Leaning against the chair, Zhang Beixing let out a breath. While exhaling, he even shook his head in an exaggeratedly thoughtful way, sighing, ”Life is indeed as lonely as snow. I hardly put in any effort, and these people are so shocked! But then again, it’s no surprise. Given my strength, I just need to reveal a little bit, and it’s already the pinnacle for someone at this stage...”

”Father, your son is calling! Father, your son is...”

It was as if even the heavens couldn’t bear to watch any longer. Before Zhang Beixing could finish his pretentious monologue, the phone on the table began to ring.

The mood was shattered. Zhang Beixing frowned. He was about to berate the person for being so inconsiderate as to interrupt him while he was enjoying his moment of glory, but then he saw the caller was the delivery service.

It must be his weighted training suit that had arrived.

JD.com sure is efficient! Ordered yesterday, here today! Zhang Beixing thought.

He answered the phone, his mouth opening to speak, but he heard the voice on the other end go off first, irritated, ”Hey, is this ’Shishi High-Quality Single Man’? What the hell did you buy? It’s freaking heavy! Hurry up and come down to pick it up!”

”Yeah, on my way, bro! Sorry about that, I’m coming down right now!”

After being berated, the once grandiose Zhang Beixing instantly turned into the humble Zhang Beixing. He responded and then hurried downstairs, jogging all the way to the school’s package pick-up station.

There, he saw the delivery guy smoking, circling a large package and muttering curses. When Zhang Beixing got closer and stared eagerly at the package, the delivery guy realized the actual recipient had arrived.

After comparing their respective heights and builds, the delivery guy’s previously absent manners suddenly reappeared. He put out his cigarette, looked at Zhang Beixing, and said in a polite and gentle tone, ”You’re ’Shishi High-Quality Single Man,’ right? This is your package. What did you buy? This thing is seriously heavy! Wow!”

Zhang Beixing smiled upon hearing this and waved his hand, ”It’s nothing much, just a weighted training suit. Only 50 jin.”
