Extraordinary Realm from Persuasion System

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: What’s going on? Is there a famine at Shi University?

It was a proven fact: if you wanted to shut up a blabbermouth, the best method was to out-talk them.

Zhang Beixing had realized this and put it into practice. Looking at the now silent and pensive policeman, Zhang Beixing smirked.

Hmph! Rookie! Before, I only kept quiet because I wasn’t used to the police station environment. Now that I’ve adapted, you think you can still out-talk me? You really think all those intense online flame wars from my past life were for nothing? When I throw out zingers like these, how are you supposed to respond? You can’t!

Feeling quite smug, Zhang Beixing didn’t press his advantage and further badger the chatty policeman. After all, as the old saying goes, ”When will the cycle of retribution ever end?”

I’m magnanimous, one hundred percent magnanimous. It absolutely wasn’t because I realized that after I suggested the policeman switch jobs, all the veteran officers turned their death glares on me, and *that* was why I didn’t dare say more! Absolutely not!

Just as Zhang Beixing was idly waiting at the police station for someone to come get him—

「At the school.」

Teacher Liu hung up the phone from the Shishi Police Station, feeling somewhat dumbfounded. He was Liu Yi, a thirteenth-generation disciple of the Yanjing Yue Family Martial Arts Gymnasium and a subject teacher at Shi University. The Shishi police had just called, saying a security guard was in custody and asking him to come bail the person out.

But what does that have to do with me? If a security guard got into trouble and was taken into custody, shouldn’t they be contacting the security department? Why look for me?

Liu Yi muttered, utterly puzzled. Since he had no classes that morning, he’d arrived a bit late. He hadn’t expected to walk into such a situation the moment he arrived at school; it was truly exasperating.

Filled with confusion, he opened his phone, intending to ask his colleagues what was happening, only to find that some teachers in the group chat were already discussing the matter.

”Did you guys hear? This morning at nine, a group of people came to one of the public classrooms and started a fight.”

”It’s not just hearsay; I was the teacher for that public lecture. When I found out, my heart was in my throat. Those people were simply too outrageous! (Angry)”

”Indeed! Luckily, a security guard who was passing by intervened. He single-handedly subdued all those ruffians! I never expected our school’s security team to have someone like that. (Like) (Rose) (Rose)”

”Our school truly has hidden talents! Thanks to this security guy, the impact and losses from this incident were minimized. But it seems the police took him away afterward. I wonder how he’s doing now? (Curious)”

”Don’t worry, he’ll be fine. That security guard acted to maintain order at our school. Considering how many opponents he faced, logically and emotionally, he shouldn’t be blamed. At most, out of humanitarian concern, they’ll have him pay some medical fees. The school will definitely reimburse those, since he acted to maintain order on campus.”

”...”

Reading these chat messages, Liu Yi roughly understood the situation. He couldn’t help but feel a flicker of curiosity about this security guard. Could there be other masters hidden in the school?

Soon after, he left the teaching building, preparing to go to the police station to pick up the person and see for himself.

On the way, he ran into the Head of the Security Department, Director Wang. They had a decent relationship, so they greeted each other. When he learned that Director Wang was also going to the police station to pick someone up, Liu Yi became even more curious. After a detailed chat, he discovered they were both there for the same person.

Amusing.

Then they drove off together.

On the way, Director Wang, the Head of the Security Department, couldn’t stop praising him. ”I heard about it from the captain. That Xiao Zhang is really a great talent! Teacher Liu, I’ve been working at our school for so many years, and I’ve never seen a security guard as dedicated as him. Even after such a major incident, he was still thinking about his patrol duties. That kind of dedication is truly rare!”

”Yes,” Liu Yi sighed in agreement. ”I heard he took on five of them by himself today and subdued them all. Director Wang, this man must be exceptionally outstanding in your security department!”

Shi University really is a place full of hidden dragons and crouching tigers. Who would have thought that such an individual was hidden away in the inconspicuous security department?

Hearing Liu Yi’s words, Director Wang’s expression stiffened for a moment, but he quickly composed himself.

Director Wang shook his head and smiled. ”Teacher Liu, to be honest, I only learned about Xiao Zhang today myself.”

”Oh? You only found out about him today?” Liu Yi frowned. ”Why is that?”

”Because he’s new. I heard from the security captain that Xiao Zhang has been constantly patrolling ever since he arrived. If it weren’t for today’s incident, neither I nor even the captain would have known we had such a capable and responsible young man on our security team. But it won’t be like this in the future. After this incident, Xiao Zhang has become somewhat famous at our school. I’ve already decided: once I get him back, I’ll report this to the manager and recommend him for a promotion, a raise, and a bonus. From now on, he’ll be the role model for our security department!”

”Haha, that’s excellent, Director Wang! You must hold on to such a talent. Our future safety depends on all of you!”

”Not at all, not at all! It’s all part of our duty!”

After chatting all the way, it wasn’t long before the two arrived at the police station.

They found a parking spot and parked the car.

Liu Yi and Director Wang got out and hurried into the station. They found the officer on duty and explained the purpose of their visit.

The officer on duty then led them to the cafeteria.

The reason was simple: Zhang Beixing, while waiting to be picked up, could no longer endure his hunger. So, he’d asked the officers if he could get something to eat first.

From the moment he’d woken up that morning, Zhang Beixing hadn’t rested for a second—first practicing his forms, then getting into a fight, and finally being brought to the police station. His expenditure of stamina and energy had been immense. But until then, his nerves had been stretched so taut that he hadn’t really registered it. Now that the interrogation was over and he knew he was in the clear, his mind relaxed, and the hunger he’d suppressed for so long instantly flooded his senses.

He was so famished, he felt he could have taken a bite out of the chatty officer.

The officers could naturally see Zhang Beixing wasn’t in a good state. Besides, Zhang Beixing had been quite cooperative, turning himself in and also having done a good deed. They had a decent impression of him, so they made a small exception for Zhang Beixing, taking him to the police station’s cafeteria to eat.

SLUUUURP.

He downed a large bowl of millet porridge in one go, followed by an entire basket of steamed dumplings. Only then did Zhang Beixing let out a long breath, feeling like he’d finally come back to life.

The chatty policeman watching him was dumbfounded by the sight. He glanced at the already empty bowl, then at the vacant steamer basket. If he remembered correctly, those items had been served just a minute ago.

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, it was all gone!

Turning to look at Zhang Beixing again, the policeman saw the young man had already devoured half an egg-filled pancake in a few quick bites.

The chatty policeman gasped, exclaiming in astonishment, ”Brother, is Shi University experiencing a famine or something? How many days has it been since you last had a proper meal?”
