Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Give her a slap on the butt, see if she still throws a tantrum

Seeing Chen Rourou like that, Zhang Beixing admitted that there was indeed a moment when he was moved.

But luckily, he usually ”kept it slanted,” and since it wasn’t very bright outside, even if he was moved, a lift of his leg and a pat in his pocket could conceal the trajectory.

Zhang Beixing cleared his throat and said, ”Enough with the crap that everything you did was just to get my attention. You were the one looking for trouble yesterday, you were the one who lost your cool, and you were the one who called for the fight. Now you’re saying it’s all a misunderstanding—do you think I would believe that if it were me?”

”Forget all the nonsense, just tell me straight—how do you want to handle today’s matter?”

Looking at Zhang Beixing’s fierce and relentless demeanor, the onlookers felt their hopes shatter.

It was like their teeth were being crushed.

This little rascal is really impervious to reason!

”Damn it, I can’t take it anymore! Zhang Beixing, don’t push it too far. That’s Chen Rourou! Her confessing to you like that is already quite something. What more do you want?”

”That’s right! I’m warning you not to go too far. What kind of man relentlessly presses his advantage when he’s in the right? Setting aside the facts, don’t you bear any fault in this at all?”

”Exactly! Chen Rourou’s already being so humble. What more do you want from her? For her to kneel and beg you to be her boyfriend?”

”Don’t bow your head, the crown will fall; don’t cry, the bad guys will laugh! Goddess, it’s not like Zhang Beixing is the only man in this world. Leave him, and you can find someone better!”

”...”

Once one person started, in just a moment, about a dozen people emerged from the woods.

This group was denouncing Zhang Beixing, as if he were some heinous criminal.

Clearly, these were all the school beauty’s loyal lapdogs.

Seeing them, Zhang Beixing was stunned for a moment. Then he came back to his senses, looked at Chen Rourou with a hint of fierceness on his face, and said, ”Are these your people too? All that talk just now, was it to stall until they arrived?”

So that’s why Chen Rourou suddenly confessed to me,

he thought. So that was her plan! Alright! I thought we were on the same page, but you’re playing games with me, huh!Zhang Beixing’s face darkened.

He clenched his fists, his knuckles making CRACKING sounds.

I’m going to teach this deceitful Chen Rourou a lesson, he decided. Make her bleed a river today!

Seeing him like this, panic surged in Chen Rourou’s heart, and she quickly said, ”No, no, no, I didn’t—I mean, don’t misunderstand me, I don’t know them!”

”Don’t know them? If you don’t know them, how come they’re here?”

”Well... this... Beixing,” she said cautiously, ”is there a possibility that they’re here to witness my confession?”

After speaking, Chen Rourou lowered her head, watching Zhang Beixing out of the corner of her eye to see his reaction.

Hearing her words, the corner of Zhang Beixing’s mouth twitched.

Her words are pure nonsense, his impulse told him. I should go over and smack her on the butt a couple of times, see if she dares to act crazy again.

Zhang Beixing rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.

I can’t understand how a perfectly good arranged fight could turn into this, he thought.

Then, after pondering for a moment, Zhang Beixing looked at the cowardly Chen Rourou and said, ”So now, you refuse to fight no matter what and insist on confessing to me, right?”

”Yes.”

Chen Rourou lowered her head, feebly responding. After responding, she added, ”And please, Beixing, accept my confession.”

At her words, the boys erupted into a cacophony of wails and howls.

These boys really couldn’t understand it.

What charm does this Zhang Beixing have to make Chen Rourou so devoted to him? Is it just because he’s pretentious?

I didn’t want it to be this way either, Zhang Beixing thought, but Chen Rourou is just too cowardly. If only she had been slightly tougher. Then, we wouldn’t be here hashing out a confession; we’d be going straight for each other’s throats. I would have absolutely beaten her butt to a pulp!

”Let’s put the confession aside for now,” Zhang Beixing said. ”I have something more important to ask you. Do you remember why we agreed to meet here for a fight?”

”This, I remember...”

”Good, as long as you remember. Come on, tell me: which is more powerful, Martial Arts or Karate?”

”Martial Arts! Martial Arts are the most powerful, the world’s number one! Karate is nothing!” Chen Rourou blurted out without a second thought.

Hearing this response, Zhang Beixing’s expression softened considerably. He couldn’t be bothered to entangle himself with Chen Rourou any longer.

”Don’t let me see your username ’I Don’t Like Coriander’ online again! And when you get back, change it to ’Karate is Garbage’!”

With that, Zhang Beixing waved his hand, signaling for them to leave.

At this sight, Chen Rourou was inwardly ecstatic, but on the surface, she still pretended to be reluctant to leave, just in case Zhang Beixing suddenly changed his mind.

She took her best friend’s hand and, while slowly backing away, said with feigned longing, ”So, Beixing, you’re still unwilling to accept my confession?”

”This... I understand, but I absolutely won’t give up.”

”I’ll go back and wait for your reply.”

After saying these words, Chen Rourou had already retreated five meters away and saw that Zhang Beixing really hadn’t tried to stop her.

”Goodbye, Beixing.”

Chen Rourou and her two best friends exchanged a knowing glance, having reached some sort of consensus. Then, the very next second, they turned around in unison and left without looking back.

Seeing this scene, the onlookers hidden in the shadows pulled out their phones to capture the moment and posted about it on the school forum.

The accompanying articles read:

Posts like these were sent out.

Almost instantly, they made the already buzzing forum even livelier.

People clicked in one after another, discussing the event and speculating why Zhang Beixing would reject her.

As for Zhang Beixing, he was clueless about all this.

After Chen Rourou left, he simply picked up the weights from the ground, called over Zheng Jituo and his two companions, and prepared to leave.

On the way, Zheng Jituo and his companions looked at Zhang Beixing, hesitating to speak several times, but ultimately, they didn’t say a word.

It wasn’t until Zhang Beixing reached the dormitory building that someone recognized him and immediately exclaimed, ”Holy shit, Zhang Beixing! That’s the guy who rejected school beauty Chen Rourou’s confession—the Hollow Prince!”

When these words came out, the people around were momentarily stunned. Then, they turned to look, and upon confirming it was indeed him, they all stopped and curiously sized him up.

Feeling the many glances cast his way, Zhang Beixing was a bit befuddled. It hasn’t even been that long, how do so many people already know?

He then looked at the skinny man who had first recognized him and saw that the man had walked up to him.

Seeing this, Zhang Beixing raised an eyebrow and said, ”What’s up?”

”Yes, of course, there’s something!” The man nodded eagerly. ”Let me introduce myself. I’m a sophomore from the Journalism Department at Shi University. My last name is Zhao; you can just call me Xiao Zhao. I’ve been following your story all day, and I never thought I’d bump into you here. Beixing, can I ask you a question?”

Journalism Department? One question? Hearing this, Zhang Beixing also became interested. Well, it won’t take too much time, he thought, so he nodded and said, ”Go ahead, ask.”

”Alright, actually my question is quite simple. I mainly want to know, Beixing, what are your thoughts on school beauty Chen Rourou’s confession? How are you considering it?”

When these words were spoken, not just the others, but even Zheng Jituo and company pricked up their ears, their faces full of curiosity.

Everyone’s gaze was fixed on Zhang Beixing.

He was seen pondering for a moment before speaking, ”...”
