Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”Hmm, those two are quite something,”

Kira mused as he walked.

Eye exaggerated, ”Just ’quite something’? Your companions are monsters! One whips out Obelisk for no reason, and the other goes even further—he can even fuse Wicked Gods. This is just...”

Kira had expected the three of them to be separated in the domain, so he’d left a spirit card with both Jaden and Kaiba as a lookout. He had more than enough spirits—since that spirit hunter had thrown himself away, Kira had an army of them.

Some spirits had already been returned to their owners via Kaiba Corp, but others were still being tracked, and many more chose to stay with Kira.

Thanks to the spirits, he got updates on his teammates.

”Relax. Just standard procedure,” Kira replied.

Eye: ”...”

Even knowing both were ”cheat characters,” this was over the top.

Kaiba—well, maybe not surprising. He’d quietly holed up and summoned Obelisk. Even Kira was caught off guard.

Not that it was surprising for Kaiba to have Obelisk by now—Obelisk was bound to him in the original story. But Kira had once fought Kaiba in Duel City GX, where Kaiba planned to become Duel King, defeat Orichalcos, and save the world. If Kaiba had Obelisk back then, there’d be no reason to hide it.

So the logical conclusion: Kaiba didn’t have Obelisk at that time. Maybe it was still in development, or maybe seeing Kira pull out Ra inspired him to pursue a god of his own. Either way, Obelisk was probably completed after that tournament.

So even when Kaiba disappeared, he’d been busy.

As for Jaden, even more impressive.

Jaden had now surpassed the original’s level cap. Not only did he reclaim Yubel, but also fully absorbed the Supreme King’s power. And it looked like he didn’t do it by brute force, but by the classic hot-blooded protagonist ”preaching,” moving others to willingly entrust him with everything.

That made the Supreme King’s power even purer, blending perfectly with himself.

Proof? The Super Polymerization he played could fuse even Wicked Gods, and the monster that resulted—Neos Lord—symbolized Jaden’s complete fusion with the Supreme King, transforming Neos into an ”evil soul” state.

In the anime, Jaden was said to master the Supreme King’s power in the end, but the Supreme King’s Evil HEROes vanished, and there was never a fusion like Neos Lord.

”Still, the fusion requirement is just Neos plus any effect monster?” Kira muttered.

So... basically no restriction?

That means Neos can fuse with any effect monster on the field. For some reason, it reminded him of his own Lava Golem...

No, no, it’s just that Jaden’s talent at ”printing cards” is amazing. Nothing to do with me.

Kira stopped, standing in a patch of pitch-black.

At first glance, it seemed no different from the endless darkness before, but Kira sensed he’d reached the deepest part of the domain, near the enemy he was looking for.

A voice seemed to echo from the void:

”Welcome, Duel King, Kira Fujiki.

...Welcome to the paradise of darkness and fear.”

Kira looked ahead. Shadows rose from the ground, shifting into human forms. Each shadow glared at him with hatred, eyes like murderers.

At the front, Kira recognized two figures.

Weevil Underwood and Rex Raptor.

”It’s you! If not for you—” Rex spat, ”If not for you, I wouldn’t be in this state!”

Weevil also shouted, ”Even if I’m swallowed by darkness, even if I become a ghost, I’ll never forget you!”

Kira laughed, ”You’re mistaken. I’ve never even met you, Weevil.”

The following shadows were also those he’d defeated or wronged; all they repeated was, ”You stole my XXX,” ”Demon,” ”I’ll never forgive you,” and so on.

Kira ignored them. ”I’ve seen this before. Honestly, if you think a few curses from losers are the deepest darkness in my heart, then by now, even Zorc the Dark God would take a detour around the darkness inside me.”

He laughed. ”And honestly, you’re not even creative—just the same old lines. When these people insulted me to my face, it was way nastier.”

Wicked God: ”...”

The Wicked God was silent for a moment, then snorted. All the shadows vanished.

Kira felt the ground give way, his body falling into endless void.

The Wicked God’s voice continued, ”Your heart does indeed contain immense darkness, far beyond a normal human. It seems we must dig even deeper.”

Kira’s fall slowed; he didn’t land. This time, he felt as if floating in water, cold darkness brushing past his fingers, a chill invading his core.

”Ha, you are afraid,” the Wicked God’s voice said.

”This is your deepest darkness. The strongest of humans, called the king of dueling, is also afraid.”

”So tell me—what do you fear?”

”Do you fear defeat?”

”Do you fear losing your throne?”

”Are you afraid that even as king, you cannot protect the world?”

”Or... do you fear us?”

As the last word fell, a mighty force exploded.

Limitless pressure filled the space, manifesting three gigantic shadows: the tail-whipping, shrieking Eraser; the bone-armored, ultimate terror Dreadroot; and at the center, black sun-like Avatar.

The pressure of all three Wicked Gods descended as if to crush everything to dust.

Kira looked up, directly facing the three Wicked Gods.

Then, suddenly, he laughed.

Wicked God snapped, ”What’s so funny?”

”Sorry, nothing... But you’re right. I do have darkness inside, and I do feel fear. But not of you.”

Kira smiled faintly.

”If you insist on knowing what I fear... I’ll show you.”

A strange glint flashed in his eyes.

”But brace yourselves—I hope you’re not the ones who end up scared.”
