Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

At the command of the Wicked God, his massive hand waved, and a pitch-black, gigantic wok instantly appeared on the field.

The terrifying, domineering The Wicked Eraser, with a body as massive as a small mountain, immediately dropped into the dark wok. Flames rose rapidly beneath it, and the Wicked God’s body began to quickly dissipate inside the pot, turning into wisps of black smoke that overflowed, accompanied by the sizzling and crackling of roasting, and even, oddly enough, a faintly appetizing aroma.

”The ’The Wicked Eraser’ had 3000 attack points when used as a tribute,” said the Avatar. ”So, I recover 3000 Life Points.”

[Wicked God, LP 1000 → LP 4000]

”And at this instant, ’The Wicked Eraser’’s effect activates as well!” the Avatar shouted. ”When Eraser is sent to the graveyard, all other cards on the field are also sent to the graveyard!”

Thus, the just-fried Eraser once again erupted with his ultimate darkness of world-ending annihilation. The pitch-black mire, as if to swallow everything, rapidly spread toward Kira’s field, sweeping in the set cards in his back row.

That darkness then continued toward the Winged Dragon of Ra. The Winged Dragon roared furiously, its body bursting with dazzling golden light, but even such blinding brilliance ultimately failed to dispel the darkness. The boundless black swallowed the Winged Dragon, dragging it into the abyss, vanishing without a trace.

Thanks to the boost from ”Divine Evolution,” Eraser temporarily attained a level on par with the Winged Dragon of Ra, making its ”End of All Things” ability effective against the Winged Dragon.

Just before fading, one could vaguely see that Kira’s set card in the back row was the trap card ”Trap Hole,” which can destroy any monster with over 1000 attack points when summoned.

However, Trap Hole only works on normal summons. This turn, the opponent summoned several ”Darklord” monsters with over 1000 attack points, but they were all special summons, so Trap Hole couldn’t trigger. As for the Eraser, although it was a normal summon, everyone knows that traps are ineffective against gods, so there was no point in wasting it.

”A trap of this level is meaningless in a battle of gods,” said the Wicked God. ”Finally, I activate the spell card ’Card of Heaven and Earth’! In a turn where I performed a tribute summon, I draw two cards from my deck! However, if cards can be set, at least one must be set.”

The Wicked God drew cards, glanced at them quickly, and set both cards in his back row.

”I set two cards. Turn end.”

Jaden said, ”There’s really no breathing room in this duel — even the gods are being pushed.”

Yubel replied, ”After all, the opponent is three Wicked Gods. It’s only natural for it to be tough. And your friend doesn’t look like he’s in great shape either.”

”No.”

Jaden shook his head, then smiled suddenly.

”Kira will be fine.”

Yubel looked at him in surprise. ”You have that much confidence in him? The opponent couldn’t even be defeated by the gods.”

Jaden shook his head again, laughing: ”It’s not about the gods. Whether the Divine Beasts are here or not doesn’t matter. From the very start, the one I trusted was Kira.

I’ve said it before… he’s the strongest.”

Yubel’s expression turned complicated, her face a little odd, but she didn’t say anything more.

”My turn. Draw.”

The moment he drew the next card, Kira felt as if he sensed a pulse of power from within the card.

It wasn’t just power — there was also a trace of will. In that instant of drawing, he seemed to return to the scene in his dream.

The retired Duel King smiled gently at him.

But that vision was fleeting, like an illusion. When he looked again, Kira found himself still on the field, holding the card he just drew. As he expected, it was exactly the card entrusted to him in his dream.

Why did Yugi Muto entrust him with this card?

Did it mean Yugi had let go of everything — fame, glory, and the responsibilities that came with the title — and handed them all over to the new inheritor of the Duel King’s name?

Kira had wondered: At the very start of the GX story, Jaden ”coincidentally” met Yugi, who gave him the Spirit card. And at the story’s end, when Jaden was about to graduate, Yugi appeared to arrange for him to duel his past self, helping Jaden recover something important lost on his path of growth, allowing for his final transformation.

The story was told from Jaden’s perspective, but was he truly the only duelist noticed and helped by Yugi?

Or perhaps, during the entire GX story, Yugi had been traveling around, discovering and nurturing talented duelists?

But these were just guesses, unimportant to Kira.

”Continuous Spell — Shining Sarcophagus!”

A shining golden chest appeared on the field, hovering sacredly in midair, radiating intense golden brilliance.

The moment this exquisite, dazzling golden chest appeared, Kaiba’s expression instantly changed.

This chest, this power is…

Yugi!

Indeed, to this day, Yugi Muto — not the Pharaoh, but Yugi himself — had long since been added to Kaiba’s ”hit list.”

Kaiba had once looked down on Yugi, seeing him merely as the vessel for his rival, nothing more.

But things are different now. Yugi Muto proved with his own strength that he was worthy of the title ”King,” showing that even without the Pharaoh, he was the strongest duelist of the era. Kaiba acknowledged it.

Now, that guy’s power had appeared in Kira’s hands!

Even the Wicked God recognized it, shrieking, ”The Pharaoh’s vessel… damn it!”

The Pharaoh’s Divine Beasts, and the vessel’s power — just what is with this human Duel King!?

And as the golden chest appeared, even the entire field — the entire space — began to react.

Orbs of light began to gather, countless points of light appearing in the darkness around. The lit-up darkness converged toward the golden chest, wave after wave like shooting stars, flying into the chest.

Jaden: ”What are those?”

Yubel hesitated, then said in a deep voice, ”Guardian Spirits!”

Jaden looked at her, puzzled.

”They are the spirits guarding this sealed land, suppressing the power of the Wicked Gods,” Yubel explained. ”And it seems they are connected to that golden chest.”

This surprised Kira as well.

He could sense it too. The guardian spirits were, after the golden chest appeared, drawn to it like magnets, pouring into the chest, and possibly entering his deck.

Is this why Yugi entrusted the golden chest to him?

Or maybe sealing the Wicked Gods here was also related to Yugi.

It’s possible. After all, it was the Pharaoh who defeated the three Wicked Gods — so it’s not out of the question that he and Yugi also participated in their destruction and sealing.

Kira looked up.

”The effect of Shining Sarcophagus: Once per turn, I can add a card with ’Shining Sarcophagus’ in its name from my deck to my hand!”
