Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”ROOOAAAARRR—”

Like thunder from the depths of the cosmos, the entire dark realm seemed to shatter at the roar.

The space was shaken; the Wicked God’s shadow at the core of the realm began to collapse. Its body flickered between solid and ethereal, chunks peeling off and dissolving into black mist. The towering body broke into dust, scattered in the darkness.

”How could this be...”

The Wicked God’s voice sounded as if he could cough up blood from rage.

He was a god! A god who could destroy everything and bring the world to its end!

And yet he’d been forcibly fused by the opponent—can you believe it!?

Can’t win? Just fuse your opponent? How could there be such shameless tactics in the world? The pressure released by this card was so overwhelming, it was nearly on par with their own.

It made no sense, none at all!

As a Wicked God, he’d existed for many years, seen more than any mortal, suffered defeat, been sealed—what hadn’t he endured?

But damn it, being fused? That was a first.

At last, the Wicked God’s shadow shattered completely. The humanoid form that had dueled Jaden dissolved. The Duel Disk, conjured from black mist for the battle, faded as the duel ended, and the cards the Wicked God had used scattered across the ground.

Jaden stepped forward, quickly scanning the deck before frowning slightly.

Yubel asked, ”No Wicked God?”

”Yeah.” Jaden stood up, thinking. ”But from that duel, it felt like I really did defeat him once and for all...”

Yubel said, ”He called himself a god. Some sort of last resort wouldn’t be strange.”

Jaden wondered, ”Was that just another avatar we fought?”

Yubel shook her head. ”No, I believe that was the real Wicked God. Even if he managed to escape somehow, he’s finished. He won’t be able to start another dark duel like before.”

Jaden nodded, not asking more. He stood, then squatted down again, gathering up all the scattered cards.

Yubel: ”...”

She felt that Jaden hadn’t been like this before.

It seemed someone unscrupulous had rubbed off on him...

Jaden placed all the cards into a case, snapped it shut, and patted it. ”Dueling shouldn’t be a power used recklessly. If I just leave these cards here, someday they might hurt others in the hands of evil.

That’s not what the cards would want.”

Yubel suddenly thought, Was this also something someone taught you?

The words themselves were correct, but if it was ”that guy” who said them, Yubel figured he’d probably be considered an ’evildoer’ himself...

And to think, even this was taught to Jaden—just how close had they been while she wasn’t around?

So annoying...

The timeline had shifted. In the original, Yubel was jealous of Jesse, always glued to Jaden and calling him ”brother,” even possessing Jesse to stir up trouble. But now, Jesse had lost most of his role, replaced in Yubel’s heart by a certain unscrupulous Duel King.

”All right, let’s keep moving,” Jaden said. ”I wonder if Kira and President Kaiba have already dealt with the other Wicked Gods?”

His Duel Disk deactivated, and the ”Evil HERO Neos Lord” summoned in battle faded away.

Yubel looked at the just-vanished Evil HERO, a swirl of emotions in her heart.

Neos Lord—born of Neos and the Wicked God, a new form worthy of legend.

But she glanced at the card’s description: the fusion materials didn’t require a Wicked God, only ”any effect monster on the field.”

Well, if it always needed a Wicked God, that’d be a pretty steep summoning cost...

When she first saw Neos Lord, that jet-black armor and red cloak, the image was so at odds—Neos wearing the Supreme King’s gear—that she was deeply moved.

Neos was a power the Supreme King of the previous life never had; it was the soul card of Jaden in this life, the beloved ace of his deck. The birth of this card proved something:

Jaden may be a reincarnation, but he’s no mere revival of a dead man from the past.

The one now is Jaden Yuki, and only Jaden Yuki. A duelist filled with passion for dueling, destined to become legendary.

…

In the deepest darkness of the realm—

A wisp of black mist slipped quietly back inside.

It was just a puff of mist, but somehow, it looked sneakily nervous. As it neared the core, it slowed, hesitating, peeking around as if whispering, ”You can’t see me... You can’t see me...”

But fate had other plans.

A majestic voice echoed in the darkness: ”You’ve returned.”

The black mist froze.

Darkness gathered, forming a massive sphere—a black sun, radiating no light or heat, yet sending chills deep into the soul.

It was The Wicked Avatar.

The returning mist, Eraser, gritted its teeth: ”I...I was careless. Didn’t expect that kid to be so sly, fusing me...”

”Defeat is defeat,” the Avatar said.

Eraser dared not object: ”Y-yes, sir.”

”Enough. In your current sorry state, you’re useless anyway,” the Avatar said. ”Come here.”

The mist turned into a card, shooting up and hovering in the air. There, three cards floated: at the center, ”The Wicked Avatar”; to the left, ”The Wicked Dreadroot”; Eraser took its place on the right.

Dreadroot and Eraser’s true forms were both heavily damaged, unable to fight alone, and could only rely on the eldest brother now.

But the Avatar was the strongest among them.

They still had a chance.

”Fujiki Kira. To reach this point as a mere human...”

Looking at the three Wicked God cards, the Avatar murmured,

”Will you truly be the one to end us?”
