Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

’This should be a good punishment!’

...

...

「Aboard the Kenzan Frolov, outside the theater.」

Huberto was hunched over, his gorgeous, intricate armor caked in viscous pus and crimson flesh. The sacred golden radiance that symbolized Dawn—much like the half-gold, half-black greatsword in his hand—was tainted, half its brilliance stained with deep, dark patterns that slowly corroded his body.

’Fallen...’

A bitter expression Huberto couldn’t hide surfaced at the thought.

He, a Judgment Knight of the Dawn Church, had been lured and bewitched into corruption. He had betrayed Dawn and lost his long-held faith.

’If I cannot obtain Dawn’s forgiveness, then I...’

’Heretic, you are blaspheming against Dawn—’

At this thought, Huberto gripped the sword’s hilt with both hands and raised it high, his expression resolute and solemn. ’Even if I die, I will never let you succeed!’

”My Lord Dawn, your devout follower, Huberto Watson, prays to your greatness. Bestow upon me your blessing...”

The next moment, he inverted the golden greatsword and plunged it downward.

SHHNK!

With a dull, grinding sound, the greatsword sank deep into his chest, and blood sprayed out.

’Self-mutilation? A sacrifice?’

Wei’en was stunned. ’This turn of events is completely unexpected!’

”Lord of Judgment...”

Pavla watched his movements in a daze. ’How could this be?’

She looked at Huberto, who was trying to summon Dawn’s favor with his faith, then at the severed limbs scattered behind him amid a mist of blood and flesh. A bewildered look flashed across her face.

’Everyone... they’re all dead...’

”Dawn!”

Just then, Huberto roared again. The black-gold greatsword in his chest was dyed red with his blood, but he seemed oblivious, his gaze locked on the horizon, staring at the pillar of light that extended from his body up into the sky.

’A sacrifice!’

Wei’en’s brows furrowed. This time, he didn’t wait as he had before. He summoned his sniper rifle and fired several shots directly at the Judgment Knight.

’I have to stop him!’

[You have hit Huberto Watson with a sniper rifle, triggering Blast Rune and the Death Trait: Senescence. Instant-Kill Progress: 31,344/40,000. Evaluation: He has already surrendered his body, soul, origin, and all of his faith. Special Rewards: Survival Points +20, Marksmanship +3, Resilience Level +1, Spirit Level +1.]

’Less than ten thousand left to reach forty thousand. Not much more.’

’Activate Feat: Rapid Fire!’

Wei’en’s hands moved in a blur, loading bullets and pulling the trigger in a rapid sequence, riddling Huberto’s body.

Empowered by the Rapid Rune, each bullet slammed into the Judgment Knight, piercing his heavy armor. They triggered the Blast Rune, blowing away chunks of his flesh and inflicting him with the Death Trait.

In a single second, he fired twenty rounds. The progress bar rose by over six hundred, but he was still a long way from triggering the Instant-Kill Trait.

”Ghost!”

Without needing further orders, Ghost immediately cast the Shadow Entanglement Spell.

It was the only spell in their arsenal with the Death Trait, which would help him trigger the Instant-Kill Trait faster and slay the Judgment Knight.

”Deep, Roko, the gate!”

An Array materialized. Countless twisted arms shot out from a black vortex, reaching for the Judgment Knight. But the pillar of light around his body seemed to be the bane of these Undead Creatures. The instant an arm touched the light, it recoiled as if shocked, leaving behind only a shrill wail that suggested it had been grievously wounded.

[Your Shadow Entanglement (Death God) is too low-level. It cannot damage Huberto Watson or trigger the Death Trait.]

Wei’en frowned. ’The spell’s level is too low?’

’This isn’t working. If I can’t kill the sacrificial offering, then I’ll kill...’

’Huh?’

’Who was I going to kill again?’

Wei’en’s firing faltered, and he froze in place. ’What’s happening?’

’There are only two people on the deck. One is the Judgment Knight, and the other is that... that—’

Wei’en’s head snapped toward the female Priest kneeling on the deck not far away, her face stained with tears. He scrutinized her face and body, not missing a single detail.

Golden hair, a Golden Robe, an exquisite face, a stunning figure.

’Kill... her. No, not her...’

As the thought arose, the faces of Kali, Tina, and Lisi flashed through his mind one by one, replacing the woman he intended to kill.

’Something’s wrong!’

Wei’en realized what was wrong—he couldn’t even form a single malicious thought about the woman before him!

Thoughts of killing, of death, even the profane thought of tearing off her Golden Robe—none of them could fully form in his mind!

”What... is going on?”

[You have entered the Spring of Dawn Faith. Because your Origin exceeds 1,000, you are immune to its erosion and corruption. Evaluation: Ah, that’s Dawn’s Authority of Kindness. Don’t think about it, don’t look at it. A disgusting authority... Special Rewards: Survival Points +40, Origin +1, Spirit Level +4, Resilience Level +4.]

’Authority of Kindness?’

’An authority that prevents anyone from having malicious thoughts about her?!’

As Wei’en processed the system message in his mind, it all clicked. No wonder that while he was slaughtering his way through those Holy Professionals, he had instinctively turned to kill in other directions whenever he got close to that woman.

So,

’does that mean I have to just stand here and watch the sacrifice succeed? Watch Dawn bestow its blessing?’

”You—”

RUMBLE!

A low rumble echoed from the depths of the sky.

The sound snapped Wei’en back to his senses, and he quickly resumed firing at Huberto.

’This is no time for doubt. If I can’t kill the woman protected by the Authority of Kindness, then I just have to finish off the Judgment Knight and destroy this ritual!’

Just then, Huberto’s body began to sway, as if it were being controlled by some unseen force.
