The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 540: Chapter 540: Irreconcilable, a Choice Must Be Made

Han Xiaorui patted her sister’s head. ”You still shouldn’t have hidden it from me! If I had known sooner, I could have backed you up sooner. Things might not have gotten to the point where even a nanny felt she could walk all over you.”

Han Xiaoqing shook her head. ”Because I always felt that those people weren’t important! The only things that mattered were my studies and Chen Wenxuan.”

”Chen Wenxuan is on the same page as me, and he’s willing to return to our country with me! We want to build up our own nation, not just be another brick in the wall for a foreign one. We share this understanding, so we didn’t want to waste too much energy on such trivial matters.”

”Besides, with the new knowledge and technologies we’ve learned abroad, we’ll be top experts when we go back home. And by combining them with our country’s traditional methods, we can spark new vitality.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Yes, that’s the right way to think about it! I can guarantee you, in ten or twenty years, our country is guaranteed to surpass these other nations.”

Han Xiaoqing agreed wholeheartedly. ”I’ve never doubted that for a second.”

Just then, the phone rang.

Han Xiaoqing answered the phone and replied in German.

After hanging up, Han Xiaoqing said with a smile, ”Sis, my advisor is free tomorrow! I’ll take you all to see him then.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Great! It’s not like we need to prepare anything. We’ll just show up for your Western-style wedding!”

”It’s also a perfect opportunity for me to connect with your advisor tomorrow and invite him to participate in research back in Hua Country. He might be very interested.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaoqing’s eyes lit up. ”Oh, wow, if my advisor goes to Hua Country, maybe I won’t have to put my doctoral studies on hold.”

Han Xiaorui gave a proud smile. ”Of course! My goal in doing this was actually to help you finish your PhD program without a hitch!”

”Also, our Chunlei Kindergarten was completed last year and has already begun enrollment. Through screenings in the Shencheng area, we’ve already admitted 81 children with autism or language development delays.”

”Right now, Expert Wang is leading her students, along with intervention teachers from the maternity and child healthcare hospital, to work there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.”

”Everything is going very smoothly. Conducting interventions in a kindergarten environment is much better than holding classes in a hospital.”

”Plus, the kindergarten also has many typically developing children, who can help engage the children with autism or language development delays.”

When it came to work, Han Xiaoqing forgot all her troubles.

Chen Wenxuan stood outside alone for about twenty minutes and finally made a decision.

Returning to the living room, he saw Han Xiaoqing nestled against her sister, and his heart ached.

He had once sworn that he would never let Han Xiaoqing be wronged.

Now, he had broken his promise!

Luckily, he realized it early. If he’d waited until his family fell apart to come to his senses, it would have been too late.

”Sis, Xiao Jing! I’ve decided! As long as Xiao Jing’s health allows it, we’ll return to Hua Country right after we hold the wedding here.”

”As for Xiao Jing’s studies, you don’t have to worry. Even if she can’t get in-person guidance, she and her advisor can still correspond.”

Han Xiaoqing was stunned. ”Are you sure? You won’t regret it?”

Chen Wenxuan smiled. ”What I regret is not deciding to take you back sooner! I kept thinking I could learn more here, but I ended up ignoring so many problems.”

”Although having these conflicts come to light before the wedding has made things a bit chaotic, it also helped us find a solution.”

”The longer we stay here in Germany, the more numerous and deeper the conflicts with my parents will become. In their eyes, I’m a smart, diligent, and incredibly promising scientist! By staying abroad, I can achieve more!”

”That way, I can bring them glory and bring immense benefits to their business! But they’ve forgotten that even though they’re my parents, the ones who truly raised me were Hua Country and the Hua Country people.”

”The person I love and the people I care about are also in Hua Country, so I have even less reason to stay here! Even though we’ve reunited, the gap is still there. We think about things from completely different perspectives.”

”This has led to irreconcilable conflicts when we try to handle problems. My brother-in-law said something that made a lot of sense: if the conflicts are irreconcilable, then you have to cut the Gordian knot and make a choice.”

”I choose to leave Germany and return to Hua Country. My parents have their own home and other children. I should focus more on my own little family, and my children.”

Han Xiaoqing was so excited and moved she was speechless.

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Seeing as you’ve come to your senses, I’ll save face for your parents before your and Xiao Jing’s wedding. I won’t openly clash with them!”

”But if they dare bully my sister or get uppity in front of her in the future, I won’t show them any courtesy whatsoever. After all, if they’re not going to be dignified, why should I save face for them?”

Chen Wenxuan gave an apologetic smile. ”Sis, that’s your right as her big sister. I understand and support you. Just... don’t take it out on me!”

Han Xiaorui shot Chen Wenxuan a glare. ”That depends on whether you do the right thing or not!”

Grandma Cai had already prepared a table full of food and said with a cheerful laugh, ”Things aren’t that complicated. If you can get along, you get along. If you can’t, you don’t. Come on, nothing in the world is more important than a full stomach.”

Sister Lian brought out the rest of the dishes and placed them on the table.

The aroma made Han Xiaoqing’s eyes light up. ”This is wonderful. I’m so happy I get to eat Sister Cai and Sister Lian’s cooking again.”

”If you like it, eat up,” Granny Cai said with a smile, comforting Han Xiaoqing with the delicious food.

After the meal, everyone’s mood improved greatly, and they were able to discuss the issue calmly.

After Mr. Chen returned from his business trip, he learned that Chen Wenxuan was looking for him and called him.

”Wenxuan, I just got back to my hotel. I can’t head home until tomorrow, but I’ll definitely be able to attend your wedding the day after. By the way, what did you need to see me about?”

Chen Wenxuan thought for a moment, then said, ”Dad, let’s meet tomorrow.”

Mr. Chen was taken aback. ”You’re about to get married. Are you in some kind of trouble?”

Chen Wenxuan mulled it over and finally said, ”There are some things that are hard to explain over the phone. I’d like to talk to you in person.”

On the other end of the line, Mr. Chen had a bad feeling, but he agreed. ”Alright, I can be back tomorrow. Should I meet you at your place?”

Chen Wenxuan thought for a moment. ”Okay, I’ll be waiting.”

”Please give my regards to Xiao Jing and her family,” Mr. Chen said politely.

”I will,” Chen Wenxuan replied. He knew his father was just being polite, but saying it was better than not saying anything at all.

After Mr. Chen hung up, he called his wife.

When Mrs. Chen got her husband’s call, she told him all about her meeting with Han Xiaoqing’s family that day.

After listening, Mr. Chen said, ”This is the son we were separated from for over twenty years. Our guilt towards Wenxuan outweighs our affection for him. I can feel that.”

”Likewise, Wenxuan’s desire to protect his own little family is far greater than his reliance on us, his parents. He’s capable of providing a good life for his family through his own efforts. We shouldn’t interfere with him.”
