The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Bloodline Suppression

Yang Lili pouted. ”I’m not big either, I’m little too!”

Yang Minmin pulled a piece of chili candy from her pocket and unwrapped it. ”You are little. Your second sister is only a year older than you, but doesn’t she give in to you? Now we have even younger sisters in the house. Shouldn’t we give in to them?”

Yang Lili’s eyes lit up when she got the chili candy. Munching on it, she blinked her big eyes mischievously. ”If you give me chili candy, I’ll give in to those two crybabies.”

Yang Minmin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”They’re not crybabies, they’re your sisters. You’re my sister, and you’re their big sister. We’re all one family, you know?”

Yang Minmin gave a piece of chili candy not only to Yang Lili, but to Yang Shunshun as well.

She pulled out four more from her pocket. ”Pingping, An’an, these two are for you. Ningning and Zhuangzhuang get some too. Nini and Qiqi, you too. Come on, everyone, time for candy.”

The moment they saw the candy, the children rushed over. For them, it was the ultimate temptation.

In an instant, Yang Minmin was surrounded by a crowd of children.

Even the shy Nini and Qiqi came over, chanting along with the others, ”Big sister, candy!”

Yang Minmin sat on the living room sofa, handing out candy, surrounded by her many younger sisters and brothers.

Han Xiaorui was surprised. ”I never thought the greatest hero in getting the kids to get along would be Minmin.”

Wu Cuicui smiled. ”It’s all thanks to Minmin. She’s so sensible. She’s taken on a lot for us. Sometimes when I’m watching the kids, if I say a few words to one, she gets upset, and if I say a few to another, she gets upset too.”

”After a while, they might even think I’m playing favorites, so I just stopped saying anything! But Minmin treats them all the same. She judges the action, not the person, and has these little sisters completely under control! If they don’t listen, she’s not afraid to get physical.”

”She has another good method, too. She’s always buying all sorts of strange and wonderful candies and snacks from outside! Sometimes when she goes out to play, she’ll also buy little toys, which are rare treasures in the eyes of her little brothers and sisters.”

”She hands out candy with one hand and doles out lessons with the other, so all the younger sisters listen to her very well! They think their big sister is amazing! And that girl Minmin enjoys having her sisters flocking around her. It makes the house livelier, too.”

Han Xiaorui nodded with a smile. This was how the unique authority of an older sister was forged.

Like between her and Han Xiaoqing; she had looked after Han Xiaoqing since they were little.

Or Wu Cuicui, who had looked after Wu Lingling.

A younger sister listens to her older sister not because she’s afraid of her, but because she remembers her kindness and is grateful for her sacrifices.

”Did Uncle Yang change the two girls’ names?” Han Xiaorui asked.

Wu Cuicui nodded. ”They just got their household registration done. All the children in the family have names with repeating syllables, and they couldn’t be the exception. Jenny and Angie are their English names. Now that they’re in Hua Country, they need to have Chinese names!”

”Uncle Yang just picked homophones from their English names—Nini and Qiqi! They sound quite nice, and the kids like them too! Thank goodness Uncle Yang went when he did. If he hadn’t, those children would have suffered more abuse.”

Han Xiaorui sighed. ”Yang Jianming is a real piece of work. Uncle Yang is a good man.”

Wu Cuicui sighed. ”I used to think Jianming just went too far, that he couldn’t keep it in his pants. But I never, ever imagined he could be so utterly depraved.”

”One was his wife’s own mother, the other was his wife. If he had wanted to intervene, how could he not have been able to? He just acted like a bystander, ignoring everything, and in the end, it led to tragedy.”

”His wife’s mother died, his wife died, and in the end, he collected a huge insurance payout from both deaths. Who wouldn’t suspect he did it on purpose?”

Han Xiaorui shook her head. ”He was the same way with me back then. There’s a trendy term for it these days: ’cold violence.’ No matter how difficult things got for me, he wouldn’t say a word, nor would he help.”

”Back when Zhang Xiufang used to criticize me and curse at me, he wouldn’t say a single word in my defense. Instead, he seemed to think every family was like that. ’What mother-in-law and daughter-in-law don’t fight?’”

”The reason I didn’t die is thanks to Uncle Yang, and the general atmosphere in our country! After all, if I died, there’d be no one to take care of the two kids, and there was no insurance money to be had.”

Wu Cuicui gritted her teeth. ”God willing, Yang Jianming will die in the United States and never come back to cause trouble. The children I’ve worked so hard to raise are not for him to ruin.”

Han Xiaorui comforted her. ”Custody is with Uncle Yang now, not Yang Jianming. He has no parental obligations, so it won’t be easy for him to influence the children in the future.”

”If Yang Jianming really tries to harm the children, the moment he lays a hand on them, I’ll throw him into the sea to feed the fish. I don’t care if he’s Pingping and An’an’s father, and I don’t care if he’s Uncle Yang’s son. I just won’t let him live.”

Wu Cuicui gritted her teeth. ”Count me in. A bad seed like that doesn’t deserve to be alive.”

Aunt Zhou and another nanny were in charge of the children, while another person was responsible for the cooking.

Even with two more children, Wu Cuicui could manage.

It was a bit tiring, but there was also more laughter.

Uncle Wu and Aunt Wu felt for their daughter, but seeing that the nannies were handling the housework, they knew it wasn’t too strenuous for her.

Now that this responsibility had fallen on her, they couldn’t very well tell their daughter not to raise these children.

Besides, every one of these little girls was so bright and pretty, truly a lovely sight.

The old couple would also come over to help, and they were overjoyed to hear the girls call them ”Grandma” and ”Grandpa.”

The only slight regret was that they were all girls; there wasn’t a boy among them.

Wu Lingling and Yao Ziqian had been lucky enough to have a son, and now she had unintentionally gotten pregnant with a second child. She was already over four months along, and since they couldn’t hide it here, they had fled to Yue Province.

Yao Ziqian couldn’t bear to be apart from his wife, so he closed up his shop and took his wife and child to the countryside in Yue Province.

Having more children than the policy allowed was common there, unlike in Shencheng where the rules were so strict.

Anyway, the worst that could happen was they’d pay a fine after the baby was born.

Yao Ziqian dealt in metaphysics and Wu Lingling was self-employed; neither of them had a public sector job.

Aside from the fine, there wouldn’t be any other repercussions.

And since they had money, they weren’t afraid of the fine.

However, Uncle Wu and Aunt Wu missed their daughter dearly. They wanted to visit her and were just preparing to take the train.

”Cuicui,” said Aunt Wu, ”it’s getting cold now, so take good care of yourself and the children. Your sister is very pregnant, and your dad and I are worried, so we’re going to see her. Jianguo will take us there and come right back.”

Wu Cuicui smiled. ”It’s good for you to go. It’s very warm there in the winter, much warmer than here.”

Aunt Wu said with a note of regret, ”Your sister said the same thing when she called.” Then she smiled. ”We don’t dare take a plane, so we have to take the train, which is a bit slow. It would be nice if we could fly.”

Wu Cuicui comforted her mother, ”Jianguo can accompany you on the train, and then he can just fly when he comes back. It’ll be fine. Don’t worry about things here. Once you’re with Lingling, she’ll have family by her side and will be able to rest easy.”

Just as they were speaking, the driver pulled up to take Yang Jianguo, Aunt Wu, and Uncle Wu to the train station.

Han Xiaorui had originally planned to take her children home for dinner, but Wu Cuicui had already finished cooking.

Besides, the children didn’t want to leave, so they all stayed to eat there.

During the meal, Aunt Zhou pulled Han Xiaorui aside to tell her something specific.
