The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 513: Chapter 513: Women Help Women

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Of course. If you don’t plan for the future, you’ll soon have troubles at your doorstep. Besides, Aunt Wang is going to do something meaningful, not play mahjong or go on vacation.”

”That being the case, why shouldn’t we help her? I heard from Dad that Aunt Wang is very accomplished in medicine. Who knows? Maybe our family will produce an academician in the field one day. What an honor that would be.”

”Besides, Ye Ling and Ye Chen are older now. They’re at school on weekdays, so they really won’t be much trouble. They’re very sensible, too. Having them here will make the house livelier, and the kids are fond of their two young uncles.”

Ye Feng had thought it would take a lot of convincing to get Han Xiaorui to agree.

He was even mentally prepared for her to say no, so he was surprised when she not only agreed but did so cheerfully.

”No wonder they say you should marry a good woman. My wife is just incredible,” Ye Feng praised.

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”I’m busy with work on weekdays. On the weekends, when Ye Ling and Ye Chen are on break, they can even help me with the children. It’s not right to only think about the potential trouble without considering the benefits.”

Ye Feng nodded. ”Exactly! And there are plenty of benefits.”

Pingping and An’an were almost like other children now, but they were simple-hearted and not as sharp as their peers.

As long as they were well-behaved, children like them would turn out just fine.

’In the future, they’ll have their parents, siblings, and two uncles by their side. No one will dare bully them!’

When Ye Feng told his father that Xiao Rui had agreed, Ye Zheng was deeply moved.

”Good, that’s wonderful. In that case, I’ll have your Aunt Wang submit her application. She’ll have to leave after the New Year. Once winter break is over, I’ll take Ye Ling and Ye Chen to Shencheng to start school.”

”Alright!” Ye Feng agreed. ”I was actually hoping to see Wu Xingjia, but it turns out he wasn’t around. It’s one thing if he stays out of my sight, but if he ever dares to show his face in front of me, we’ll see how I deal with him.”

Ye Zheng smiled. ”Wu Xingjia has never been important. Don’t let an outsider like him disrupt your peace of mind.”

”I know, Dad,” Ye Feng replied. He had come to understand.

’If his two younger brothers become successful and have bright futures, his own four children will have more support down the road.’

When Wang Liwen learned from Ye Zheng that Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng had agreed, she was so excited she couldn’t sleep all night.

Early the next morning, she got up, bought breakfast, and brought it to Han Xiaorui.

Without a word, Wang Liwen dropped off the breakfast and then rode her bicycle to work.

Watching Wang Liwen’s retreating figure, Han Xiaorui was filled with emotion. ’For a woman who wants to build a career, family and children are always the biggest roadblocks.’

’So many talented women have to give up career opportunities for their families and children.’

’And just by offering what little help she could, she might enable Wang Liwen to take her career to the next level.’

Over the next few days, Wang Liwen went out of her way to be kind to Han Xiaorui and the children.

After staying for a few days, it was time for Han Xiaorui to take her leave.

With tears in her eyes, Wang Liwen said, ”Xiao Rui, thank you.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Aunt Wang, don’t mention it. On a personal level, this will be a huge benefit to your career and research. On a grander scale, you’re working hard for the sake of human health and the advancement of medicine.”

”So, go on and don’t worry. Leave your burdens behind, concentrate, and fulfill your duties and your mission. I’ll watch over the two boys for you, I promise I’ll make sure they grow up to be upstanding young men.”

”As for Dad, he wishes he could work twenty-four hours a day right now. Thankfully, his personal doctor is reliable and constantly reminds him to take breaks. He’s giving his all to take the next step in his career.”

”Okay!” Wang Liwen was not only full of vigor, but she also felt a surge of inexhaustible energy.

After staying in Beijing for a week, Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng left with their children.

Over those seven days, the family’s bond had grown even stronger.

Once New Year’s Day passed, it felt like the Spring Festival was just around the corner.

It was also time for Pingping and An’an’s final exams. Their grades were usually decent.

Pingping scored an 82 in Language Arts and a 79 in Math.

An’an scored a 78 in Language Arts and an 83 in Math.

Han Xiaorui was extremely satisfied when she saw their scores. They had both passed.

In a class of forty-five students, Pingping ranked thirty-eighth and An’an thirty-ninth.

Cai Wenjun ranked fortieth.

Teacher Wen said that if they reviewed thoroughly, they could probably score even higher.

But as far as Han Xiaorui was concerned, their results were excellent.

Liang Xiaoyu and Granny Cai were even happier, saying that since the scores came out and were so good, they should celebrate.

After the children received their report cards, it was the parents’ turn for a parent-teacher conference.

As the homeroom teacher, Teacher Wen gave the parents timely feedback on how their children had done that semester.

In Teacher Wen’s eyes, every child was a good child, a good student.

She also learned about the parents’ situations from talking with the students.

Teacher Wen encouraged the parents to reason with their children rather than resorting to spanking.

If there were problems the parents couldn’t solve, she said, they could always communicate with her.

For example, there was a boy in the class who only ate meat and no vegetables. He had even been hospitalized for constipation.

After his parents brought this to her attention, Teacher Wen frequently spoke to the class about the benefits of eating vegetables.

However, the child just let her words go in one ear and out the other. In the end, Teacher Wen made home visits for three days straight just to watch the boy eat his meals.

He not only ate his vegetables, but even the green onions and ginger in the dishes.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the teacher and his parents, the child was no longer a picky eater, and his constipation improved significantly.

The parents listened, impressed by how clearly Teacher Wen understood each student’s situation. She even gave them targeted advice on how to help their children have a productive winter break.

It was this level of meticulous care that enabled the children to make great progress, earning the school and its teachers the deep respect of the parents.

Winter break had finally started, but Teacher Wen, as the homeroom teacher, wasn’t idle. She began making home visits.

It wasn’t just Teacher Wen; the homeroom teachers in other grades did the same.

Take, for example, the two orphans next door, Zhao Chang and Zhao Cheng. Their homeroom teachers gave them special attention.

They not only bought the boys new clothes, but upon learning that Zhao Cheng’s math was a bit weak, one of them used the winter break to tutor him.

Han Xiaorui deeply appreciated the educational atmosphere at Jinshan Bay and used an education fund to give the teachers bonuses.

Although the school in Jinshan Bay was now public, Han Xiaorui had established a Jinshan Bay Education Fund.

The fund could be used not only to repair school buildings but also to purchase new equipment and supplement teacher salaries.

The teachers’ hard work was rewarded, creating a virtuous cycle.

This Spring Festival was destined to be a little warmer than those of years past.

Now that winter break had started, the scenic area was still bustling with tourists.

Some were locals, others were from out of town.

All of Jinshan Bay was flourishing, developing just as Han Xiaorui had planned.

Furthermore, the Jinshan Bay Investment Company finally turned a profit this year. They began distributing the money, paying dividends to the villagers.
