The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 506: Chapter 506: Mixed Doubles

Ye Ling picked up the phone and called home. ”Mom, Dad, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have run away!”

”WAHHHH...” Wang Liwen covered her mouth and continued to weep, crying too hard to speak.

In the end, it was Ye Zheng who took the phone. ”Ye Ling, I don’t want to say anything else, just this one thing. As long as you still see me as your dad in your heart, I will always be your father.”

”I don’t care what outsiders say! If you don’t see me as your father in your heart, then I’m not. It all depends on you, not on irrelevant strangers.”

Ye Ling’s voice was choked with emotion. ”Dad, I, Ye Ling, only have one father, and you’ll always be my dad! I could never accept a man who once hurt my mother!”

”It doesn’t matter how rich that man is or how nice he is to me. None of that is important. You are my only family!”

Ye Zheng smiled and nodded. ”That’s the right way to think! Your final exams are coming up soon. Finish your meal at your big brother’s place and get back here! You’ve got some nerve! Running away from home without a word! Just wait till you get back, see if I don’t give you a thrashing!”

Hearing this from the other end of the line, Ye Ling wasn’t angry at all. Instead, he chuckled. ”Dad, I messed up. You can hit me or yell at me all you want! Big Bro already kicked me a few times and knocked some sense into me!”

On the other end, Ye Zheng laughed. ”If your big brother is beating you, then you take it! Who told you to mess up? You’re so young, yet you dared to take a train all the way to Shencheng by yourself. Weren’t you afraid of being kidnapped?”

Ye Ling muttered under his breath, ”I’m not a girl. Who would kidnap me?”

Overhearing this, Ye Feng landed another kick on him and cursed, ”You’re right, you wouldn’t be as valuable as a young girl sold off to be a wife for some old bachelor in the mountains! But a half-grown brat like you could be thrown into an illegal coal mine and dig up plenty of coal!”

”AHH!” Ye Ling grimaced in pain. ”Big Bro, I know I was wrong! I’ll never run away from home again!”

When Wang Liwen heard her son getting hit over the phone, she gritted her teeth. ”Ye Feng, good job! You should kick him a few more times!”

Thinking about how she hadn’t been able to eat or sleep for the past two days, Wang Liwen was in agony.

’How did I give birth to such an idiot?’

Fortunately, both Ye Zheng and Ye Feng treated Ye Ling the same as always. Nothing had changed.

Just then, Ye Chen shouted, ”Bro, you’re so disloyal! How could you go to Shencheng without taking me with you?”

Hearing this, Wang Liwen angrily slapped him. ”What are you getting excited about! Final exams are almost here, where do you think you’re going? You two little brats listen to me: if you don’t do well on your finals, your dad won’t even have to lift a finger. I’ll knock you out with the sole of my shoe myself!”

Ye Chen let out a pained cry and quickly fled to his room, not wanting to provoke the tigress.

Ye Ling said with a laugh, ”Mom, don’t worry, I’ll definitely do well on my exams! I’m going to make you proud!”

”Proud, my foot! I’ll be thanking my lucky stars if you just stay safe and sound!” Wang Liwen scolded. ”Pass the phone to your big brother and sister-in-law!”

Ye Ling nodded. ”My sister-in-law isn’t awake yet, but my big brother is right here!”

Ye Ling handed the phone to Ye Feng. ”Big Bro, my mom wants to talk to you!”

Ye Feng took the phone. ”Aunt Wang, don’t worry. I’ll personally bring Ye Ling back home.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Liwen was grateful. ”Thank you, Ye Feng.”

In the past, she had been a bit wary of Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui, but this time, she completely let go of her prejudices.

She and Ye Zheng were family, and that included her stepson, Ye Feng.

Seeing Wu Xingjia again had made Wang Liwen realize just how happy she had been all these years, and she cherished this family deeply.

’I won’t let anyone destroy it!’

”Aunt Wang, there’s no need to be so formal. We’re all family,” Ye Feng replied. ”You and Dad must have been worried sick and not gotten much rest these past two days because of this kid. Ye Ling is fine now. I’ve already given him a beating and knocked that muddled head of his straight.”

Wang Liwen laughed. ”Hit him. Hit him hard.”

”As long as you’re not mad that I hit Ye Ling,” Ye Feng said with a chuckle, worried his stepmother might hold a grudge.

Wang Liwen quickly replied, ”You’re his big brother. He messed up, so you should hit him hard. Give him a few hits for me, too. Ye Feng, I also want to thank you for helping Ye Ling in time when he made a mistake.”

Ye Feng smiled. ”He’s my little brother. Of course I have to beat him when he messes up.”

After a few more pleasantries, Ye Feng hung up the phone.

Han Xiaorui heard the commotion outside and came downstairs in her pajamas, yawning. ”What... what’s going on with you all?”

Ye Ling ducked behind his big brother. ’My sister-in-law has a fiery temper,’ he thought, ’She’s probably even fiercer than my brother.’

Ye Feng briefly explained the situation, emphasizing how Ye Ling had taken the train from Beijing to Shencheng all by himself.

He had even reached their home but didn’t knock, just stood outside the door for a long time.

Han Xiaorui’s eyebrows shot up in anger. She looked around for a handy tool to use as a weapon but found nothing.

She rushed over and grabbed Ye Ling’s ear, twisting it. ”Do you know you were wrong? Does it hurt?”

Although Ye Ling tried to dodge, his sister-in-law was faster, and she got a firm grip on his ear.

Ye Ling grimaced in pain. ”Sister-in-law, it hurts, it hurts... It really hurts... I know I was wrong, Sister-in-law, my dearest sister-in-law!”

How could Han Xiaorui let Ye Ling off so easily?

She twisted his ear and hit him while he dodged all over the place.

Even though he was yelling that it hurt, Ye Ling felt a sense of relief in his heart.

’Only your closest family would discipline you like this. My sister-in-law doesn’t see me as an outsider.’

Pingping and An’an were woken up by the noise. Rubbing their eyes, they came out in their pajamas and saw their mom hitting their Second Uncle downstairs.

”Mommy, don’t hit Second Uncle.” Pingping and An’an were instantly wide awake and hurried downstairs.

Pingping hugged her mom’s waist while An’an pulled at her mom’s hand. ”Mommy, don’t hit Second Uncle.”

Even though they didn’t know why their mom was hitting him, they still didn’t want her to.

For the past few years, Ye Ling and Ye Chen would come to Shencheng for summer and winter breaks.

They not only brought gifts for Pingping and An’an but also took them out to play everywhere.

In their hearts, their Second and Third Uncles were the best.

Seeing how much his two nieces cared for him, Ye Ling felt incredibly smug and happy.

”Sister-in-law, stop hitting me. I really know I was wrong.” It wasn’t that Ye Ling was afraid of the pain; he was just embarrassed to be beaten in front of his nieces.

Han Xiaorui let go. ”Aren’t you going to wash your face, brush your teeth, and eat breakfast? Are you waiting for me to feed you?”

”Okay, okay, I’ll go brush my teeth right now.” Ye Ling quickly agreed and dashed into the guest room in a couple of bounds to find his toiletries.

After washing up, he came to the dining room.

Pingping and An’an placed all the delicious food in front of Ye Ling. ”Second Uncle, this is an oyster omelet. It’s so yummy!”

”Second Uncle, this rice porridge is cooked really well. Mommy just said that after we eat, she’s taking us shopping.”

”Second Uncle, Mom and Dad said they bought plane tickets for tomorrow. We’re going to Beijing tomorrow! Second Uncle, you’re always bragging about how fun Beijing is, so you have to take me to play.”
