The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 515: Chapter 515: First-rate High School and Special Education

Han Xiaorui was in her office when she received a report that someone from the county education bureau wanted to see her.

A look of surprise crossed Han Xiaorui’s face. ’The new year is just around the corner, why would someone from the education bureau be looking for me?’

The teaching quality at both Jinshan Bay Primary School and Jinshan Bay Middle School had improved dramatically.

This was evident from the city-wide final exam results and the high school matriculation rates for the middle school.

In fact, two students from Jinshan Bay School’s graduating ninth-grade class had placed in the top ten across the entire city.

This was an unprecedented achievement, the best results in the school’s history.

Han Xiaorui had rewarded these teachers, encouraging them to continue their excellent work and achieve even greater results.

She thought for a long time but couldn’t think of any major problems at either school.

Han Xiaorui went out to greet him personally. ”Director Wang, hello! What brings you here today? If there was anything, you could have just called, and I would have come to you to hear your instructions.”

Han Xiaorui’s attitude was exceptionally polite, and her posture was very humble.

Seeing Han Xiaorui being so courteous, Director Wang from the education bureau smiled as well.

Han Xiaorui was no longer the housewife she used to be; she was now a renowned entrepreneur in the district and even the city.

Developing Jinshan Bay to its current state in just three or four years was an incredible feat.

Even the neighboring White Crane Village had benefited greatly, developing alongside it.

Other, more distant villages wished they could move their communities right next to Jinshan Bay to get on board its train of development.

”President Han, you’re too kind! You’re a very busy person now, a famous entrepreneur in our district. Thank you for your support of education!”

”The district originally only had one high school. With the economic development, the number of migrant workers has increased, and so has our student population.”

”To address this situation, the district is preparing to build a second high school. The first one is over by the old street. We originally wanted to site the second high school in Jinshan Bay, but there’s no spare land here. So, we’re thinking of building it in White Crane Village.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui was slightly taken aback. ”That’s wonderful news. Investing in education is always the right thing to do. It’s true that there’s no spare land here in Jinshan Bay. As long as White Crane Village is willing, I certainly hope the Jinshan Bay high school can be built quickly.”

Vice Director Wang smiled when he heard this. ”Some people insisted on calling it ’Second High,’ but our director said that since there’s already a primary and middle school here, this high school should be called Jinshan Bay High School to create a unified system.”

Since Han Xiaorui placed great importance on the Jinshan Bay area, she would naturally offer financial sponsorship.

Han Xiaorui smiled at his words. ”Thank you, Director Wang and the district leaders, for your support of our Jinshan Bay! As for building this Jinshan Bay High School, our Jinshan Bay Education Fund will also give you its full support.”

”If we’re going to build it, then we should build it well! With the district’s policy focused on economic development, I imagine it must be difficult to build a first-rate high school. We are willing to work with the education bureau to create an excellent one.”

When Director Wang heard Han Xiaorui say this, his eyes lit up.

This was the very purpose of his visit. He hadn’t expected Han Xiaorui to agree before he even had to ask.

It was clear that Han Xiaorui truly valued education, just as everyone had said.

An entrepreneur who placed great importance on education, one who had led an entire village to prosperity, was exactly what they needed.

As government officials during the economic reform and opening-up, they were feeling their way forward in everything.

In recent years of development, more and more people had become wealthy, but not many truly used their wealth to give back to society.

Now, Han Xiaorui’s actions, embodying the principle that those who get rich first should help others to do the same, brought great comfort to the leaders.

”On behalf of the students of Shencheng, I thank you, President Han,” Vice Director Wang said with a grateful smile. His mission for the day was successfully accomplished.

By next year, the district would have a first-rate high school.

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Director Wang, don’t be so formal. When we’ve earned so much money, we must give back to society and contribute to the nation. Investing in education is the most meaningful thing we can do.”

”I have another matter to discuss, also related to education. Many of us focus on primary school, middle school, high school, and even university, but we don’t pay much attention to early childhood. There’s even less focus on special needs children with developmental delays or autism.”

Hearing this, Vice Director Wang’s expression turned serious. He asked, ”I’m aware that your two daughters and another young student named Cai Wenjun have been receiving special education intervention.”

”The fact that they now have complete language skills and can attend school with other children is a remarkable achievement.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Yes. Over the past three years, my family, the teachers, and the doctors who provided my daughters’ intervention therapy and education have all put in a tremendous amount of effort.”

”If my two daughters hadn’t received proper, science-based intervention therapy, they might have become what people call ’little fools’ or ’autistic patients.’”

”They would have never been able to become ordinary people and would have likely become a burden on society. My family is well-off, so we could always have supported them. But for an ordinary family, this would be an extremely heavy burden with severe consequences.”

Director Wang sat up straight and listened intently. ”In that case, President Han, what do you suggest?”

Han Xiaorui replied, ”I once had an in-depth conversation with Expert Wang from the maternal and child health hospital. My two daughters and Cai Wenjun benefited from a two-pronged approach of attending kindergarten while also receiving intervention courses, which is why the results were so good. Now they attend school normally, just like any other student.”

”The children who only receive rehabilitation at the hospital also make progress, but even the best of them don’t achieve the same results as my daughters and Cai Wenjun. Therefore, I want to fund the construction of a Chunlei Kindergarten, specifically for children aged three to six with autism or language development delays, so they can attend kindergarten and receive rehabilitation training at the same time.”

”If their symptoms are mild and they don’t have violent tendencies, they can be sent directly to a regular kindergarten to attend school with typically developing children, allowing them to learn how to integrate.”

Hearing this, Director Wang was deeply shaken. ”The costs and complexities involved in this would far exceed those of building a high school.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. She was very serious about this matter and would do her utmost to see it through.

”It may be complicated, but someone has to do it! My sister’s boyfriend is currently studying in Germany. She visits him there every summer vacation and studies at related institutions.”

”Our country’s research and education in this area have fallen behind. No matter how poor we are, we can’t neglect education; no matter how hard things get, we can’t let our children suffer. I’m a mother. I don’t have such lofty ambitions. I just want to do the things I can see need doing, and that I’m able to do, and do them well!”
