The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 532: Chapter 532: First, Secure Investment

It was precisely because of this that the country’s emerging semiconductor industry had managed to secure the space it needed to survive.

Ye Feng could finally breathe a sigh of relief!

Seeing Ye Feng fall asleep on the sofa, exhausted, Han Xiaorui quietly walked over.

She draped a thin blanket over him and studied his face.

She could faintly make out a few white hairs at his temples, and a few new fine lines had appeared at the corners of his handsome eyes.

’Time truly spares no one.’

Han Xiaorui made a soup for Ye Feng, infusing it with a little of her Water Ability.

While it couldn’t make him young again or grant him immortality, it could help clear his fatigue and keep him in good condition.

At lunch, Han Xiaorui served Ye Feng a large bowl of chicken soup.

”You’ve been working so hard lately, you need to replenish your strength. These mushrooms were sent over by your old comrades! Chicken soup with wild mushrooms is the most nourishing.”

”Thanks!” Of course, Ye Feng wouldn’t refuse his wife’s kindness.

He had been working hard and was truly exhausted these past few days.

After a sip of the delicious chicken soup, a feeling of comfort washed over Ye Feng.

”Are the plane tickets booked?” Ye Feng asked.

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”They’re booked. You’ll take Ye Ling back to Beijing yourself tomorrow. The college entrance exam is just a month away.”

”Since he’s taking the exam in Beijing, it’s best for him to go and get acclimated. We wouldn’t want him to struggle with the climate and have it affect his scores.”

Ye Ling looked up. ”Sister-in-law, you’re underestimating me, aren’t you? I grew up there. How could I not be used to the climate?”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Still, it’s better to be careful. Aunt Wang is back from Africa now. She had a very tough two and a half years there.”

”She’s on leave now, so she can take good care of you and support you through the exam. You can just focus on studying. And as for Ye Chen, you can tell Aunt Wang not to worry. Once our term-end exams are over, I’ll bring them all to Beijing.”

Ye Ling smiled. ”Thanks, Sister-in-law!”

Han Xiaorui waved her hand. ”Don’t mention it. Just focus on your exam. Even if certain people come looking for you, just treat them as strangers. This is a huge moment in your life, so you can’t afford any distractions.”

”You just need to know what’s important and what isn’t. Everything else is secondary.”

Ye Ling nodded. ”I know. Last time, big brother and my dad took care of that Wu person. They’ve kept their heads down for the past two years and haven’t dared to show their faces around me.”

”As for the future, I’m grown up now. I have my own sense of right and wrong, I can tell the difference, and I’m emotionally stable.”

Han Xiaorui was very pleased. ”That’s the spirit! Also, when you’re in college, try not to reveal your family background. You can say your family is in business, but don’t mention what our dad does.”

Ye Ling nodded. ”I know. I won’t bring any trouble to the family.”

Han Xiaorui shook her head. ”It’s not that we’re worried about you causing trouble, it’s that we’re afraid you won’t make genuine friends. The friendships you forge over four years of college are precious. You should treat people with sincerity and help each other out. That way, people won’t care about family background and will judge you on your character and abilities. You’ll be able to find like-minded friends.”

Ye Ling completely agreed. ”I’m majoring in liberal arts, and I want to go into politics in the future. I’ll need more than just ability; I’ll definitely need a network.”

”Sister-in-law, when I get into politics, can you invest wherever I’m assigned? I’ll have political achievements to my name then!”

Hearing this, Ye Feng immediately shut him down. ”You haven’t even gotten into college yet and you’re already thinking about your political career? Isn’t that a bit premature?”

”If you really do go into politics, Father will still be around, and I’ll keep an eye on things for you. I’ll definitely help where I can, but where I can’t, you shouldn’t try to force it.”

Ye Ling was satisfied with that answer. ”Thanks, big brother!”

Ye Feng was heading to Beijing anyway to meet with his father; there were some things they needed to discuss.

Wang Liwen had spent two and a half years on an aid mission in Africa, and her research had achieved a major breakthrough.

After returning home, she submitted her findings and published her paper. Her institution gave her time off to rest.

For those two and a half years, Wang Liwen had been diligent and conscientious, not daring to waste a single second.

She carried her family’s hopes and her own tireless pursuit of her medical career.

Coupled with her exceptional abilities, her results were outstanding.

Now that she was on leave, her son was coming back just in time.

With the college entrance exam a month away, Wang Liwen was focused on supporting her son and taking care of him.

Wang Liwen prepared a lot of things for Ye Feng to take with him.

”Thank you and Xiao Rui so much for everything these past two years. Once Ye Ling is done with his exams, I’ll go thank Xiao Rui in person.”

Ye Feng smiled. ”Xiao Rui was just saying she’s planning to bring the kids here for their school holidays. It won’t be too late to thank her then!”

Wang Liwen’s face lit up. ”Great! It’s just over a month away, which isn’t long at all. I’ll get everything ready so the children can have a wonderful summer vacation here.”

While Wang Liwen was packing, Ye Zheng and Ye Feng were chatting in the study.

”Dad, congratulations,” Ye Feng said with a smile.

With no outsiders present, a hint of pride appeared in Ye Zheng’s eyes. ”I’ve finally made some progress. My efforts these past two years weren’t in vain. You and Xiao Rui have also done exceptionally well in your respective fields.”

”Especially in the chip industry and with the lithography machine. If your side hadn’t produced results and earned the military’s approval, I wouldn’t have been able to persuade the state to invest.”

Ye Feng felt a shiver of lingering fear. ”I never expected the influence of those compradors to be so great back then. Thankfully, we persevered. We can already mass-produce low-to-mid-range chips. As for high-end chips, the cost is a little high, but not excessively so.”

”Most of these high-end chips are for military orders; some domestic manufacturers don’t need them. However, we’re already actively cultivating the surrounding ecosystem and supply chain.”

Ye Zheng nodded. ”Be bold, don’t be afraid. Even if it’s not profitable now, it will be in the future! Very profitable! Because if foreign chips keep their prices this low, they’ll lose even more money.”

Ye Feng agreed completely. ”Yes, Father. I’ve already heard through some channels that they’re preparing to raise their chip prices.”

”Once they raise their prices, we can raise ours slightly as well. That will increase our profit margins and help fund future research and development.”

Ye Zheng nodded. ”You handle it as you see fit. The higher the price, the more you earn, and the less the state will have to invest.”

After discussing Ye Feng’s work, Ye Zheng brought up the real estate company Han Xiaorui had invested in.

”With the current economic development, there’s an increase in migrant workers moving to the cities, and local residents also have a high demand for housing. As a result, the real estate sector is set for rapid future growth.”

”The real estate project in White Crane Village introduced many initiatives for the first time in the country. A lot of people think it’s a bad idea, that taking out a mortgage to buy a house is too risky.”

”But for those with stable collateral or income, getting a mortgage allows them to move into a house first and pay it off slowly. It is a viable model.”

Because this policy was only implemented on a small scale, it was considered a pilot program.

After the results were submitted, it became a key topic of discussion as a potential direction for Shencheng’s future development.
