The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 528: Chapter 528: Decoration Company

Han Xiaorui sighed in relief. ”As long as it’s organized by a proper agency, that’s good. Be safe while you’re there. We’ll be waiting for you at home.”

Ye Feng was destined for great things. It was true he was a businessman, but he also shouldered other responsibilities.

This trip wasn’t just about recruiting experts for their semiconductor business, but also about other matters.

In short, it was very complicated.

Han Xiaorui had studied history in her past life, so she knew the general situation.

So she tried to analyze the situation for Ye Feng. ”The Mao Bear has a lot of internal problems and is being suppressed by Western nations. Their current leader is desperate to integrate with the West, but I think it’s a trap. They’ve most likely been duped. But this is an inevitable downfall; even if we deduce that the Mao Bear will collapse and warn them, it won’t change anything.”

Hearing this, Ye Feng’s expression was calm. ”We’ve had similar suspicions, but only a small fraction of people think so. Many believe that the mighty Mao Bear could never collapse.”

”From top to bottom, they all feel that life is hard right now and want to integrate with the West. But neither the United States nor the European countries will accept it. So they’ll dismember it, then snatch up their resources and top companies, and feast on the remains.”

Han Xiaorui was stunned. She hadn’t expected Ye Feng to have such profound insight, which almost perfectly matched what had happened in her past life.

”I think so too. So, when you formulate the relevant policies, you should act according to this understanding to secure the greatest benefits for us.”

Ye Feng nodded. ”Mm, I understand.”

A few days after their conversation, Ye Feng left on his business trip.

It was unclear when he would return.

Xu Yingying was now the company’s vice president and could take over Ye Feng’s work at any time, holding down the fort for a while.

Mr. Xu had completely retired. As long as it wasn’t a major crisis, he no longer got involved.

Someone had to take over, and whether the circumstances were good or bad, it was a chance for the younger generation to gain experience.

Xu Cheng’s collaboration with the power bureau was a perfect match, and both sides were very satisfied.

The power bureau was also very supportive, providing fifty percent of the funds upfront. The final payment would be made after the housing was completed.

This arrangement pleased both Han Xiaorui and Xu Cheng.

They expanded the construction team and began work on two fronts: at the White Crane Immortal Residence and the Power District.

Wu Yao and Liu Xiangnan got engaged. They would be married in two months on May Day.

One day, Liu Xiangnan bought some pastries to give to Wu Yao and stayed for a little while.

He also asked Wu Yao to a movie, but she wasn’t done with her work yet and needed a little more time.

There were some foreign magazines on the table, and Liu Xiangnan picked one up to flip through.

It was a book about foreign furniture.

Liu Xiangnan was so engrossed that he didn’t even notice when Wu Yao came to stand beside him.

Wu Yao asked curiously, ”What’s so interesting about this book?”

Liu Xiangnan smiled. ”Our new home is built, but it just has whitewashed walls and rather old-fashioned furniture. Would you like it if we changed to something like this?”

Wu Yao followed his finger and nodded. ”I love it. It looks so stylish. Foreign design in this area is a bit better than ours in Hua Country.”

Liu Xiangnan thought for a moment, then said, ”Can I have this book? My uncle is a carpenter and works at a furniture factory. I’ll ask him to help me make a few pieces like this.”

Wu Yao’s eyes filled with hope. She really wanted them. ”Won’t that be too much trouble?”

”This is for our new home. How could it be trouble? You’re so wonderful, I have to give you the very best.” Liu Xiangnan’s sweet words flowed freely, making Wu Yao’s heart bloom with joy.

’Sometimes, a man’s appearance really isn’t that important.

His character and personality are also very important.’

Liu Xiangnan took the imported furniture magazine with him.

Liu Xiangnan’s uncle was very capable. He estimated the approximate dimensions of the furniture based on a person’s height.

In less than half a month, he had finished making the furniture Liu Xiangnan wanted.

Once placed in the room, the effect was truly different—it felt fresh and bright.

The sofa and bed were also very modern.

Combined with the crystal lamp Liu Xiangnan managed to buy, it looked even more stylish.

This was exactly the kind of style that was popular in Shencheng right now.

While waiting for the furniture, Liu Xiangnan hadn’t been idle; he had decorated the house according to the designs in the book.

Unexpectedly, the results of the decoration were excellent.

Granny Liu loved to show off. She told everyone how capable her son was and how beautifully he had decorated their home himself.

Hua Country people love a good spectacle, so they came over to take a look.

After one look, people started coming to ask Liu Xiangnan for help.

At first, Liu Xiangnan was patient, but he eventually got annoyed. After all, he had his own job!

Because of all the decorating work for others, Liu Xiangnan no longer had time to go on dates with his fiancée.

Liu Xiangnan explained this to Wu Yao. She felt sorry for him; he seemed to have lost more weight recently.

When Han Xiaorui heard Wu Yao complaining about this to Wu Jiao, she blinked. ”Since Xiangnan knows how to decorate, why doesn’t he start a company that specializes in it?”

Hearing this, Wu Yao was taken aback. ”But he’s doing so well at the ornamental fish farm. Sister Xiao Rui, has Xiangnan been neglecting his real job because of all this decorating?”

Han Xiaorui waved her hand. ”No, Xiangnan is doing great at his job; he hasn’t been neglecting it. He does all that other work after hours.”

Wu Yao breathed a sigh of relief. ”That’s good! I’ll be sure to remind him later not to let other things get in the way of his work!”

The speaker was casual, but the listener took it to heart.

When Wu Yao was on a date with Liu Xiangnan, she mentioned it to him.

Liu Xiangnan’s heart skipped a beat, and he kept her words in mind.

He suddenly realized that as people’s incomes were increasing, they were starting to pursue better and more fashionable things.

Whether it was furniture or interior design, anyone who could afford it would want to make their home nicer.

’That foreign furniture isn’t actually that difficult to make.

For someone like my uncle, who can do intricate carvings, making that kind of minimalist foreign furniture is a piece of cake.

Even the luxurious European-style furniture—my uncle could replicate it perfectly just by looking at it once.

If I started a design company and had my uncle take over the furniture factory, I could really get things going.

My current job is stable, and the salary and bonuses aren’t bad.

But no matter what, I’m still working for someone else. I want to be my own boss, too.

Now that an opportunity like this is right in front of me, I’ll definitely regret it later if I don’t seize it.’

Liu Xiangnan mulled it over and over, then discussed it with Wu Yao. ”Yaoyao, what do you think about me starting a design company? Lots of people have praised the work I did on our new place!”

”With more and more commercial housing being built, people aren’t satisfied with just whitewashed walls and concrete floors anymore. They also want to have wood or tile flooring, a better sense of design, and more stylish furniture.”

Wu Yao was stunned. ”Are you really interested in this? Sister Xiao Rui asked me before if you were going to start a design company. I told her no, that you would focus on your job and not get distracted.”

Liu Xiangnan chuckled. ”I wasn’t before, but now I want to give it a try! If I can make a success of it, I’ll be the boss, and you’ll be the boss’s wife!”
