Warhammer Divine Throne

Laine and Surya’s conversation continued, and after thinking for a while, Laine spoke honestly to his wife: ”Surya, I think Brother Julius doesn’t stand much of a chance in this matter, I can only offer all the support I can.”

”Father’s intention is not to see Brother give up so easily; for the sake of the Duke Family’s honor, if Brother simply withdraws, it would appear cowardly. But if he jumps straight into the championship duel, one, his chances are low, and two, it would be a foolhardy move.” Surya was troubled; she was worried for her brother but knew that facing Fidmund, who was a Holy Grail Knight and the first in line for Duke Boldro’s title, Julius had little advantage, rather many disadvantages.

In this Kingdom, the title of Holy Grail Knight is indeed very prominent. Surya knew one important reason Francois was willing to marry off his daughter was because Laine was a Holy Grail Knight. However, regarding Julius, Francois complained to his daughter that not being a Holy Grail Knight doesn’t mean Julius is worse than Fidmund, and Bohemond was cheating.

It was a double standard, but Surya could only chuckle at this recollection. It was a matter of perspective; Holy Grail Knights are human too. Francois, despite possessing the Eight Virtues of Chivalry, was ultimately a father. His daughter’s lifelong affairs were resolved smoothly, yet his son’s affairs troubled him.

”Sometimes a duel can solve problems; life and death are trivial, if dissatisfied, just fight.” Angerong listened briefly and realized the issue was quite complex; the World-Devourer Primarch wasn’t inclined to think too deeply about it. He watched Amelia playing with two Oster Border Collies and recalled some other things, grinning widely: ”Laine, my brother, appearance sometimes matters too. I dare say, the same task, if Fugen, Kiliman, or Saint Gile were to conduct diplomacy, it’d surely be better than if Motarian, Magnus, or Petrabo did. Ah, every time I see Petrabo’s face like that rotten egg, I want to use my axe to peel his face off, every time!”

Laine’s brothers! The female knight’s eyes lit up. She clung to her husband’s arm, refrained from speaking, and listened intently. Amelia also picked up the collie, her large eyes sparkling, eager to know about Laine’s affairs.

Laine’s background was truly mysterious.

”Fugen? I seem to have heard Brother Fugen was married?” Laine had no intention of hiding anything from Surya and Amelia. He asked about something he was curious about.

”Whether Fugen was married, I don’t know.” As usual, Angerong carried his beloved pair of axes, plunging a pitchfork into the ground with force, his large bald head adorned with a straw hat. After recalling, he said uncertainly: ”I’m not sure what the situation was with my brothers back on the home planet, like whether Kiliman ever had a woman when he served as regent of Ultramar. But what I know is, among our brothers, only you and Ruth openly kept women by your sides, though you and Ruth are different.”

”Different?” Laine was quite curious about Angerong’s secrets.

”You and Ruth both like women, but in different ways. You pursue quality, while Ruth sees it as a form of release. I recall he definitely has at least a hundred slays, right?” Angerong recalled the Great Expedition Era with a disdainful expression on his face: ”That barbarian with all the wolf scent of Ruth only knows to have his wolf sons gather around him wherever he goes, like an old man enjoying family bliss. Got the guts to face me one-on-one!”

”Hahahaha.” Laine and Angerong chatted a bit; seeing that the time was about right, he took the initiative to propose taking leave. Angerong didn’t plan to keep them, nodding to show he’d heard.

”Amelia, let’s go. We’re heading somewhere else; if you want to see the dog, come back next time!” Laine waved at Amelia.

”Goodbye, 486! I’ll come see you again next time!” Amelia put down the collie she was holding, saying goodbye to the little dog.

”Woof woof woof~” The Border Collie is a very smart dog. It immediately realized Amelia was bidding farewell, barking several times. Border Collies rarely bark, so this was its way of saying goodbye.

After Laine pulled Amelia up onto the Elf Warhorse, the little maid leaned against Laine’s body, still muttering: ”486 is so cute. Next time if I have the chance, I want to see it again, play with it.”

”So why is it called 486?” Amelia was not incapable of riding a horse; it was just that Laine did this to indicate closeness and also for soothing. Recently, Laine felt his little maid was quite resentful towards him, especially after Teresa was willingly ”incorporated” by Laine.

”486? I heard Mr. Oliver say that President Hadrian spent 486 Gold Marks to buy several purebred Border Collies and transported them from Oster Territory over here, so I named the dog 486.”

”Alright.” Laine casually asked.

”Laine, Surya Sister, where are we going next?” Today was Amelia’s day off. The little maid obviously didn’t plan to return to the winery just yet.

”Next, we’re heading to Alfred’s Justice Chapel.” Laine nodded: ”Alfred has formally advanced to Temple Knight of the Justice Church. We should go congratulate him for becoming a member of the Temple brotherhood.”
