Warhammer Divine Throne

When the group arrived at the Kuileu Ancient Tomb Belt, the two hundred knights led by Francois were already waiting.

This is a large, low-lying basin filled with numerous stone buildings. Judging from the patterns and markings on these stone structures, it is undoubtedly the ruins of architecture abandoned by the High Elves. Even after thousands of years, the architecture of the High Elves still exudes enchanting artistry, though most of the buildings and towers have collapsed, and the walls are covered by vines.

Interspersed among the High Elf architectural complex are tombs, a multitude of tombs surrounded by various skulls. Many stone chamber graves are open, filled with cobwebs and dust inside, and their treasures have long been looted by Green Skins and humans.

In this basin alone, there are hundreds of such stone chamber graves. With the winter cold wind blowing, human glory seems to be of the past, and the future of the world consists only of countless corpses and endless desolation.

The entire knight army passed through this ancient tomb belt, wearing full Secret Silver Blue-White Armor, with Holy Grail Cloak draped behind, and the Unicorn Sword hanging from their waist. Francois squinted, his face heavy as he looked at the ancient tomb belt, remaining silent for a long time.

”The creations left by the High Elves, clearly not as durable as those made by Dwarves.” Belgar looked at the expanse of tombs and the decaying sight, feeling disheartened. The King of Eight Peaks reminisced about the fallen Eight Peaks Mountain, where ancestral shrines and temples were also placed.

Belgar never admits weakness, so he had to speak stubbornly.

”Here, it looks like a settlement? Originally humans utilized the town left by the High Elves when they retreated from the Old World, but why did it become a cluster of tombs?” Laine felt the desolation and bleakness of the whole area, and the animals that still held intense hostility toward externalities. Surprisingly, Francois signaled the knights not to attack; he merely sighed and urged the army to pass quickly.

”These animals are not enemies; they are witnesses and guardians of the old Kuileu Duchy. Laine, Surya, Yuri, Jerald, you must have heard, there were once dozens of Brittania people tribes that crossed the Gray Mountain Range to settle in Brittania. However, by the time Arthur established the Knight Kingdom, only fourteen duchies remained, right?” Francois looked at the gloomy sky and said to the crowd.

”I’m willing to hear more.” Surya whispered, she and Julius already knew the whole story. Francois intended to tell the story for Laine, and the lady knight thoughtfully assisted.

”Brittania people crossing the Gray Mountain Range happened over a thousand years ago. In the following two hundred years, small tribes were destroyed or annexed; sixteen Brittania tribes divided the land into sixteen duchies in Brittania. Apart from the Atuo Duchy and Aquitaine Duchy, which were destroyed due to the Vampire incident, before the founding of the country by First Knight King Arthur, there were actually two more duchies, whose histories have now been buried in dust and are scarcely known.”

”Those are the Kuileu Duchy and Granboiler Duchy.”

Francois raised his hand, gesturing toward the entire depression filled with buildings and tombs: ”This is the original site of Kuileu Duchy.”

”...” The crowd was speechless.

”After settling in Brittania for several hundred years, these tribes, known for producing the finest riders in the Old World, engaged in prolonged battles with Green Skins, Beastmen, and the southern Estalian and Tiriel people. Soon, a massive Green Skin invasion occurred about a thousand years ago, plunging all of Brittania into a huge crisis. Green Skins rampaged across Brittania’s lands, destroying everything, burning villages, and decimating anything in sight,” Francois continued, ”At that time, the Kuileu Duchy and Granboiler Duchy both faced the onslaught of the Green Skin tide, concentrating all their knights in resistance, and the outcome... you can see now.”

”At that time, the entirety of Brittania was engulfed in the flames of battle between humans and Green Skins, and Beastmen. However, each duchy fought independently, while the empire beyond the mountains was in decline and refused to provide support to the Brittania people on this side of the mountains. It was then that my ancestors, the Duke of Winford Duchy and the Duke of Borelion Duchy, led an army to offer aid, but only witnessed the annihilation of Kuileu Duchy, prompting the two ancestors to decide ownership of this duchy’s land through Champion Duels,” Francois said with a scholarly smile.

”Obviously, the Duke of Winford won.” The outcome was predictable. Now the land belongs to Winford Duchy, Laine followed his father-in-law’s words: ”And then?”

”Twenty years after the extinction of Kuileu Duchy, the crisis Brittania people faced grew increasingly severe. Green Skins ravaged, Northern Barbarians plundered, Beastmen attacked, and chaos spread throughout Brittania. By then, many duchies were left with only a few isolated cities, greatly reduced in population, and facing enemy attacks, many dukes could only defend these solitary cities, watching Green Skins and Beastmen destroy villages and its people.”

”At that moment, the Duke of Bastogne emerged in Brittania with great renown; he single-handedly killed a gigantic Red Fire Dragon, becoming a famed dragon-slaying Champion Warrior across the kingdom, and his name was...”
