Warhammer Divine Throne

PS. Coming up, part of the plot will involve elements from 40K. For readers not familiar with it, please watch patiently, as I will explain this section in simple terms.

The interior of the banquet quieted down, everyone was watching this unexpected turn of events.

The crowd gathered around, but most of them cast unfriendly glances at Julius. No matter what, making a move at a banquet is not something a noble should do; Julius was a bit impulsive.

Only Laine calmly approached the Archbishop of the Ocean Church: ”Your Excellency Odrich, I believe there has been a significant oversight in the Upper House of Marinburg. The Chaos corruption on Baron Edmond has clearly not been cleansed. On the contrary, he is dedicated to spreading his degenerate ideas.”

The Sea God Archbishop had not yet answered when Schultz appeared, and the Duke of Marinburg spoke in an angry voice: ”I said back then that Edmond should be dealt with harshly, but none of you agreed, and now look at the trouble he’s caused!”

The Members of Parliament of the Upper House lamented his misfortune and were angry at his inability to stand firm. Their reason for not punishing Edmond was also because these big merchants more or less held something unclean in their hands; who knew what trouble might entangle them one day?

Old Earl Huron’s favor was one aspect, their ideas of self-preservation were another.

Laine highlighted the key points of Edmond’s remarks, then he addressed everyone at the banquet:

”May I ask all you gentlemen and ladies present, by what means do humans survive on this Continent, by what means do humans prosper? Is it by what this Mr. Edmond claims? Cherishing life? Is it by the self-preservation he preaches? Does applying makeup on his face scare away the Chaos Army?”

No one dared to answer yes, and no one dared to speak up for Edmond.

Because this guy had already touched an absolutely forbidden area, perhaps some of the nobles harbored such thoughts in their hearts, but at this critical juncture, they had to make their stance clear, even more resolute than anyone else.

”Absolutely not!”

”Humankind has come this far through war, courage, and faith.”

”He is a Fallen!”

”Get rid of him!”

The people at the banquet began their denunciation of Edmond, and when Griffin Duke Ivan also inquired of the Marinburg Members of Parliament about this matter, the members of the Upper House knew they had to do something.

”We will give the Empire a satisfactory account. The soul of the Fallen must be thoroughly cleansed in the flames.” Edmond had already been beaten unconscious by Julius’s angry fists, with his nasal bone broken. Thus, the Members of Parliament ”helpfully” made the decision for Edmond, which was that he would be executed by fire, and the title of Baron Huron would be inherited by someone else.

This handling was barely acceptable, so Griffin Duke nodded in agreement.

”Marquis Winford, Your Excellency Julius, while we can understand your feelings, we cannot accept your excessive actions. We hope you can maintain your composure elsewhere.” Likewise, Julius, who made excessive actions, also had to be punished. He was asked to leave the banquet; the Kingdom Knight said nothing and walked straight out.

The hierarchy of titles in the Empire is Baron-Viscount-Count-Duke-Prince-Elector-Emperor, while in Brittania it is Baron-Count-Marquis (Special Grant)-Duke-King. Generally, the first in line to inherit a great noble’s title is considered one rank lower in the title hierarchy. Therefore, both Julius and Surya can be called Marquis.

Except for the hereditarily fixed titles specially granted by dukes and emperors, Ludwig decreed that the titles of military nobles would decrease by generation, so most nobles serve to ensure their status. In Brittania, it is even rarer to hear of a great noble in the Knight Kingdom who cannot ride a horse and wield a cavalry lance.

Seeing this, Laine also left the banquet with Julius, followed by Holy Grail Knight Jules and his sister Surya, the lady knight lifting her long skirt to run out, her high heels making a clattering sound: ”Brother, it’s my fault! Brother, wait for me.”

”Come here! Julius!” Holy Grail Knight Jules was angry, calling Julius over and giving him a severe scolding, while Julius just hung his head and took it silently.

The early spring night was still very cold; the lady knight was very anxious when she saw this, even extremely guilty. She spoke up: ”Your Excellency Jules, it’s all my fault...”

Who knew that Jules and Laine would speak at the same time: ”This is not your issue.”

”???” The two Holy Grail Knights exchanged a glance, then Jules said to Laine: ”You speak to Miss Antre.”

”Ahem~ This is not your issue, Miss Surya.” Laine coughed, adjusted his wording, and then said: ”Julius had good intentions; he didn’t want you polluted by that Fallen, but his method was wrong.”

”Wrong method?” The lady knight looked up at the man in front of her.

”Firstly, he underestimated your judgment. He thought you might be influenced by the degenerate rhetoric of that guy, but in fact, I can see you were not affected by Edmond’s words; Julius was overly impulsive.” Laine frowned, then continued: ”Secondly, he shouldn’t have resorted to violence directly; just in this regard, he violated the teachings of the Lady. It’s just that he was too concerned about you.”
