”Yes, if all goes well, I will be heading to Brittania to serve as a Lord after the Green Grass Festival.” Laine revealed his future to his Godfather and then, with a hint of shame on his face, said, ”Ivan, I... I am sorry to disappoint your teachings, but I have no other choice.”

The Griffin Duke looked at his godson and suddenly laughed heartily, giving Laine a pat on the shoulder: ”Ha! You rascal, I also know your little scheme. With the Lady of the Lake treating you so well, it’s not surprising that a practical person like you would choose to convert. Moreover, you will have a better future under her. Your decision is understandable. You’ve passed my test, and becoming a Holy Grail Knight is indeed a great honor, at least better than being a White Wolf Knight in Nord.”

”Phew~” Laine let out a sigh of relief, having passed his Godfather’s test.

The Griffin Duke greatly appreciated the Eight Virtues of Chivalry and had once visited Brittania as the Empire’s envoy, forging deep friendships with many Holy Grail Knights. However, he could not stand the Knight Kingdom’s peasant system or the recklessness and arrogance of its young knights.

The Godfather began to instruct his godson: ”But Laine, you must know that Brittania is not like the Empire. After several centuries since its founding, this country has fallen into decline. Since Knight King Taylor, the subsequent two kings, John I and John II, were tyrants. Under their rule, numerous independent farmers went bankrupt and became peasants, and the chivalric spirit that the nobility once upheld gradually disappeared. The past energy that sought justice and virtue is now just used to extract greater profits from the peasants.”

Laine listened respectfully, and Anton also quietly listened to his father’s teachings.

Ivan continued: ”After John II was overthrown by the Lake God Witch and the Dukes, the current Knight King ’Tiger’ Richard can only be considered a good man and decent general. Under his rule, Brittania can perhaps maintain stable governance, but a revival of prosperity is almost impossible. Moreover, Richard is old and lacks ambition.”

”If you become a noble in Brittania, you might face many difficulties. Have you truly thought it through, my godson?”

”My Godfather, perhaps things should be viewed from two perspectives. A kingdom gradually declining and decaying will indeed present many challenges for me, but within it also lies the potential for renewal.” Laine calmly stated, ”When the flames of war spread throughout the Kingdom, great crises will also spur great change and opportunity...”

”And this is what you desire!” Ivan’s eyes slightly widened, and the Griffin Duke tilted his mouth, understanding Laine’s ambition: ”Such grand ambition, you truly are Ivan Ferdinand’s godson!”

In his words, the Griffin Duke reached for the Griffin True Silver Holy Sword at his waist. The massive single-handed sword emitted a pleasant ring in the cold air. The Griffin pattern on the hilt, the angel wings glowed with golden light, the blade was inscribed with various runes, and golden flames danced fiercely along the blade.

”Draw your sword, Laine!”

”Let me see if you truly have the ability to support your vast ambitions!” With the Griffin True Silver Holy Sword in hand, Ivan’s expression gradually turned cold, and the pressure from the Holy Sanctuary Powerhouses emanated fully, causing the two young men to continuously retreat.

”If you cannot withstand this blow, take your ambition with you to the grave!”

Laine nodded, reaching for the Goddess of Revenge behind him, and in his eyes burned a strong fighting spirit.

”As you wish, my Godfather.”

”I also want you to see my growth.”
