Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2042: Chapter 2043: You Actually...

He handed a piece of water chestnut cake to Qi Linglong, and An Yilin didn’t say a word, just continued to walk forward.

Qi Linglong was momentarily stunned, but soon, happily cradling the water chestnut cake, she nibbled at it with great care, hopping along playfully behind An Yilin, absolutely delighted.

Seeing the person behind hopping along, An Yilin couldn’t help but say, ”If you keep this up and trip, dropping your food on the ground, you’ll have nothing to eat.”

Qi Linglong immediately stopped hopping.

Wang Wenya observed everything silently, but hid a smile behind her handkerchief.

In front of the Prime Minister’s residence, two carriages were waiting. An Yilin arranged for Wang Wenya to have a carriage to herself, while he shared one with Qi Linglong.

An Yilin’s carriage led, with Wang Wenya’s following behind.

The interior of the carriage was spacious, with cushions and pillows for comfort.

An Yilin, with a fractured left arm, sat leaning back, the pain making him quite uncomfortable, and a cold sweat beaded on his forehead.

Glancing at Qi Linglong, who was focused solely on the water chestnut cake, clearly indifferent to his fractured arm, An Yilin found it both amusing and exasperating.

Qi Linglong ate in small bites, in a manner that suggested she cherished it, seemingly afraid it would be gone too soon. To An Yilin, her eating habits seemed fine for now.

But then...

Seeing oil stains on Qi Linglong’s mouth from the chicken leg, An Yilin frowned and, unable to stand it, took out a brocade handkerchief to wipe her mouth.

Seeing a hand stretch out, Qi Linglong instinctively leaned back, stopping her consumption of the water chestnut cake, and looked at An Yilin with a bewildered expression.

An Yilin’s face turned stern instantly: ”Come here.”

Fearing An Yilin as the Prince and seeing him appear angry, Qi Linglong quickly swallowed the cake and moved a little closer to him.

Only then could An Yilin wipe the oil off Qi Linglong’s mouth, complaining as he did, ”I told you to clean your hands and mouth earlier. Look at your mouth, it’s still oily.”

Qi Linglong stiffened all over, feeling An Yilin’s actions were too intimate, something she had only seen her father do for her mother.

An Yilin continued, ”I like cleanliness, so if you are to follow me like a servant, you must keep yourself clean, understand?”

Qi Linglong blinked and, after a pause, nodded: ”Understood.”

As soon as An Yilin finished wiping her mouth, he reclined back against the cushion. Seeing Qi Linglong resume eating her water chestnut cake, entirely focused on it once more, An Yilin couldn’t help but feel irritated. Leaning over, he snatched the water chestnut cake from her hand.

”My water chestnut cake...” Qi Linglong wanted to grab it back but didn’t dare, simply looking at the cake in An Yilin’s right hand with a pitiful, yearning expression.

An Yilin was amused by her: ”Is food all you care about?”

”Yes,” Qi Linglong nodded sincerely. Her eyes firmly fixed on the cake, she never even glanced at An Yilin.

An Yilin found it both exasperating and amusing: ”Going forward, you’ll be my servant, yet you care only about food and not me?”

Qi Linglong kept staring at the cake, swallowing hungrily.

Seeing this, An Yilin indignantly hid the cake behind him, laughing through his anger as he loudly asked, ”Are you even listening to me?”
