Chapter 2036: Chapter 2037: You Ought to Show Respect

The more she thought, the more distressed Huo Qingyi felt.

It was just at this moment that Su Yixing returned, and Huo Qingyi quickly composed herself to prevent Su Yixing from noticing her unease.

Su Yixing sat down at the table: ”It’s all confirmed. We will have a triple wedding with our third and fourth brothers.”

”Mmm.” Huo Qingyi poured a cup of tea for Su Yixing.

Su Yixing accepted the tea and drank it slowly, pondering over the open door when he came in. He asked, ”Did you go out just now? Why was the door open?”

He clearly remembered shutting the door when he left.

Huo Qingyi felt a pang of bitterness in her heart, but showed no change on her face: ”An Baobei came by a moment ago, said she couldn’t sleep and wanted you to play with her. But saw you went to your parents’, so she let it go.”

Su Yixing laughed, ”She really is full of energy. If it were seventh brother, he would’ve fallen asleep immediately.”

Their seventh brother An Yizhi needs at least six hours of sleep each day. Although he was full of energy as a child and managed on very little sleep, he has grown increasingly fond of sleeping as he’s grown older, practically spending most of his day asleep.

Huo Qingyi just continued to pour more tea for Su Yixing, not speaking.

After exchanging a few more words with Huo Qingyi, Su Yixing lay down to sleep, still wrapped around Huo Qingyi.

Though Huo Qingyi closed her eyes and nestled in Su Yixing’s embrace, her mind was a whirl of emotions. She shouldn’t like Su Yixing. She should, like before, regard Su Yixing as her master, obey him, protect him, instead of being as conflicted and bitter as she is now.

...

After another month of tiring travel, on the tenth day of the tenth month, An Jing and the others finally arrived at the Imperial City. An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi were waiting at the Royal Palace gates early in the morning, all very happy.

”Father, Mother, finally you are here!” An Yiqi said cheerfully upon seeing An Jing and Xiao Changyi.

Upon seeing An Yizhi as well, An Jing chuckled, ”Zhier, why didn’t you sleep in today?”

An Yizhi smiled, ”Since Father and Mother are here, no matter how much I wanted to sleep in, I had to get up early. But Mother, you really made us wait. We’ve been here since just after sunrise and now it’s nearly midday before you arrived.”

”We would have arrived earlier, but we discovered a broken wheel on the carriage when leaving the inn this morning, which delayed us,” An Jing explained while transferring to the royal carriage with An Yizhi and the others to enter the Royal Palace.

An Yizhi looked towards Su Yixing and Huo Qingyi, teasing, ”Second brother, so you are already married! It’s fine you tricked me and fifth and sixth brothers, since we’re not in a hurry to marry. But when third brother returns, he’s definitely going to cause a fuss once he finds out you married second sister-in-law long ago.”

Su Yixing was unfazed, ”No matter how much he fusses, he won’t fight me, it’s fine.”

An Yizhi was silent for a moment before speaking to An Jing again, ”Mother, I think our family shouldn’t emphasize age hierarchy too much.”

An Jing chuckled, ”What’s wrong with that? He is your elder brother, you should naturally respect him.”

An Yizhi pursed his lips and said no more.

Meanwhile, An Baobei continued playing and teasing fifth brother An Yiqi.

An Baobei even cheekily teased An Yiqi: ”Fifth brother, since second brother, third brother, and fourth brother are all about to marry, does that mean you’re next?”

An Yiqi joked in return, ”In our family, it’s not necessary to marry in order of age. Who knows, you might get married before sixth and seventh brother.”
