Chapter 2024: Chapter 2025: It’s Not That We Can’t Do Without You

After Wang Wenya and Wang Haomiao had lunch at the Royal Palace, they left, and shortly after, Su Chengyu and Su Muchen arrived.

Seeing Su Chengyu personally come to visit him, An Yiyun felt touched yet guilty: ”Uncle, you already sent someone to inquire about me, there was no need to come personally.” Saying this, he sighed.

Su Chengyu smiled and said, ”I couldn’t rest easy without personally coming to see you.”

An Yiyun smiled wryly: ”If Uncle is worried, my parents would be even more worried if they knew.”

Su Chengyu nodded and sighed as well.

Crown Prince Xiyun, Su Muchen, advised, ”Yiyun, your health is like this, don’t push yourself too hard.” After a pause, he blamed himself, ”If I had known you would push yourself so much, I wouldn’t have supported you to pursue a career in politics back then.”

An Yiyun shook his head and smiled, ”It was my own decision to take this path in politics. If I didn’t insist, no one could persuade me otherwise. It’s just a pity, I won’t be able to assist Uncle anymore or help you, Mu Cheng Bro.”

This meant he wouldn’t be serving as an official anymore.

Su Chengyu and Su Muchen understood this and felt relieved. An Yiyun had been very close to them since childhood, and they didn’t really want him to take up any official position, but he was determined to pursue a career in politics. No amount of persuasion worked, and even if his workload was reduced, he would find other things to occupy himself with and never idle around, which always made them both worried and troubled.

Relieved, Su Muchen smiled and said, ”Although you’re exceptionally talented, Xiyun won’t fall apart without you, so just relax. Father and I will not face any crises without your assistance.”

An Yiyun also knew that Xiyun could manage without him, so he nodded.

Su Chengyu said, ”Right now, don’t think about anything else; just focus on getting well. Regardless of what happens in other countries, our Xiyun has long been in a state of peace and prosperity.”

An Yiyun nodded again, ”Yes.” After a pause, he smiled, ”Then Uncle, I hereby formally resign my position.”

Su Chengyu smiled as well, ”Alright.”

Su Muchen said, ”Since Yiyun won’t be the Prime Minister anymore, Father, who do you intend to appoint as Prime Minister?”

Before Su Chengyu could respond, An Yiyun recommended, ”Wang Jiancheng has been an official for years, with outstanding political achievements, and is a man of integrity admired by all officials. Uncle can appoint him as Prime Minister.”

Su Chengyu chuckled and said, ”I heard from Qi’er that once your health improves, you’ll finalize things with Wenya. Aren’t you worried people will gossip about you recommending your future father-in-law?”

An Yiyun warmly smiled and said, ”Recommending the virtuous without avoiding kinship, isn’t that what you’ve always taught me, Uncle?”

Su Chengyu chuckled again, then said, ”Actually, when Prime Minister Li resigned, if not for your exceptional talent and achievements, I had planned to appoint Wang Youbao as Prime Minister.”

An Yiyun also laughed, ”So, I ended up taking my future father-in-law’s Prime Minister position for so many years.”

Su Muchen then teased, ”Wang Jiancheng is a gentleman with great tolerance and integrity, he’s straightforward and won’t bear a grudge or refuse to let Wenya marry you over this. Rest assured.”

An Yiyun just smiled.

When Su Chengyu returned to the Imperial Palace, he appointed Wang Youbao as Prime Minister, while An Yiyun was conferred the title of Prince.

Thinking that Su Yixing and the others were of the age to be conferred, they were also given the title, and An Jing and Xiao Changyi’s seven sons were suddenly elevated from the status of Princes to Princes of the Realm.
