Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2034: Chapter 2035: Conveniently Staggered

”But after thinking it over, we’re still not comfortable with you being alone, so we’ve decided to build a house next to your Aunt Jing’s place. Your dad and I will live there and can see you often.”

”Last time your Aunt Jing wrote about this too, suggesting we build a house nearby. When we’re old and can’t travel easily, we can talk together often.”

”Since you’ve decided to marry Qinger next January, your dad needs to send people over to start building the house soon.”

Before Gong Le and An Yiqing could say anything, Ye Zhi spoke again: ”Your Aunt Jing and the others must be going to the Imperial City to prepare for your wedding. Just while they’re away, we can build the house without disturbing Aunt Jing, Uncle Yi, Aunt Yao, and everyone. It’s the best of both worlds.”

”Your aunt is there too; everyone will be together, creating a lively atmosphere.”

”As for living under the same roof, let’s forget that. Your dad and I understand your sentiment, and since we’re building a house next to yours, it’s practically like being under the same roof.”

Ye Zhi continued, and Gong Juechen smiled and asked An Yiqing, ”When will your parents go to the Imperial City to prepare for the wedding? I need to send people to build the house, especially your dad, who doesn’t like noise. It’s perfect to do it while he’s away.”

An Yiqing was very happy to see that both Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen had no objections to the wedding next January 28th. Upon hearing Gong Juechen’s question, he replied, ”My fourth brother is also getting married with me, it’s a double happiness, so there’s a lot to do. My parents and older brother should be on their way to the Imperial City.”

Gong Juechen said, ”Then, I’ll send people to build the house soon. After you and Lele are married, we will move there too, so you won’t have to travel back and forth. You just need to visit your parents and you’ll see us.”

An Yiqing smiled: ”It’s certainly the best thing possible.”

Gong Juechen muttered quietly, ”Originally, I wanted to keep Lele for another two years and even asked Star to promise not to marry for two more years. Who knew your parents won’t care for birth order at all.”

An Yiqing paused, then burst out laughing, saying, ”No wonder when I urged my second brother to marry earlier, he wouldn’t. We pushed him until he agreed to two years. So those two years came from you!”

Gong Juechen looked at Gong Le and sighed with some sadness: ”It’s just hard to let go of my daughter...”

Gong Le immediately teared up, stood up, and embraced Gong Juechen, choking out, ”Dad.”

Ye Zhi’s eyes were also slightly red.

They only have this precious one, and she’s going to be married next January. Fortunately, they’ll still be able to see each other often, otherwise she and her husband would definitely feel empty, as if something was missing.

After a while, Ye Zhi curiously asked with a smile, ”Is Yun Er also getting married? To which family’s girl?”

Gong Le immediately laughed, ”It’s that Sister Wenya who always covers her laughter with a handkerchief!”

An Yiqing smiled helplessly but still said, ”Luckily, I’m the third in line, so it’s okay if you’re a bit impolite to Wenya. After all, you’ll be her third sister-in-law in the future.”

Gong Le, still holding her father Gong Juechen, laughed brightly saying, ”Anyway, I feel she’s just too uptight. I could never act like her, and I believe I’m happier than she is.”

Ye Zhi lightly tapped Gong Le’s head with a smile: ”Which eye of yours sees Wenya as unhappy? She’s the standard of a noble lady and has been educated by Prime Minister Li, who is a Wen Qu Star. Even when she’s happy inside, she expresses it subtly, unlike you, who shows everything on your face.”
