Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Cleaning Up the Matchmaking Corner

”I...” The older woman stammered, hesitating.

The crowd of older men and women around her didn’t hold back, immediately jumping to the worst-case scenarios.

”She wasn’t scammed into marriage, was she?”

”Was she trying to marry a rich tycoon, only to find out he was a fake?”

”I bet she got knocked up and had to get married.”

”It says she has no children. How can you guess she was pregnant? Are you an idiot?”

”So you believe whatever she writes? If she wrote she was your grandma, would that make her your grandma? In that case, your great-grandma is right here. Hurry up and kowtow.”

[Hahaha, the old-timers are even fighting amongst themselves while enjoying the drama.]

[The older woman’s expression just changed. She’s about to break and tell the truth.]

[I have a feeling she really did fail to land a tycoon.]

[A woman with her qualifications doesn’t need to be a gold digger, right? Besides, if he was a fake, she would’ve called the police ages ago.]

”Ma’am, how about this?” Zhang Zhe suggested an idea. ”I’ll take a guess as to why your daughter had a flash marriage. If I’m right, you blink.”

”If I’m wrong, you don’t blink.”

”That won’t work,” the older woman finally spoke up. ”If you keep guessing wrong and I have to keep my eyes open, they’ll dry out completely!”

”Let’s just give it a try first.”

”My guess is, your daughter had a long-term boyfriend before she got married, right? For one reason or another, he broke up with her right as they were planning the wedding. He might have even turned around and married another woman right away.”

”To prove she could still get married, your daughter just grabbed a random guy from a matchmaking agency, or maybe some lonely guy from her office who was always after her. As long as he was willing to marry her, she was willing to get married.”

”Am I right?”

”But a flash marriage is rarely a happy one, right? She came to her senses, realized her mistake, wasn’t satisfied with her new husband, and got a divorce just as quickly.”

”Right?”

”...” The older woman didn’t say a word, but she was blinking furiously.

”It’s really such a cliché plot?” Teacher Wang whispered in disbelief from the side.

This older woman was a well-known figure at their matchmaking agency. She had previously purchased a Gold membership and was personally handled by the owner himself.

The owner had complained about her, saying she was extremely picky. She had apparently gone through almost every eligible bachelor in their database before finally choosing a local businessman to be set up with her daughter.

One week after the meeting, the two of them got married with lightning speed.

The owner was on top of the world at the time, boasting that he’d ’still got it.’ He even made a point of passing out the wedding candy sent by the groom to all the agency’s employees.

The result? They divorced just three days later. Three days.

Thankfully, they hadn’t held a wedding ceremony, or the owner would have been roasted alive by critics.

If that had been the end of it, it would have been fine. But nobody expected that just one week later, the older woman showed up at their door again, demanding that the agency either give her a refund or continue providing its services...

Teacher Wang looked at the woman in front of her and thought, ’So that’s all it was? Not very juicy. And here my colleagues at the agency were guessing all sorts of wild scenarios.’

In reality, the more clichéd a story is, the more often it happens in real life, which only increases the probability of it being the case.

Zhang Zhe had based his analysis on the woman’s profession and education. Many well-qualified, older single women hadn’t been single from the start; they’d had relationships before.

For many of them, marriage negotiations had fallen through. Despite being in a relationship for years, it all came down to a price tag in the end. The man had to let go, and that’s how the woman ended up on the matchmaking market.

This one just happened to have had one flash marriage.

”Ma’am, does your daughter still want to get married?”

”Of course she does! What do you think I’m doing here, just shooting the breeze with you?” The older woman laughed. ”Ask any of these folks around us. I practically live at this matchmaking corner.”

”But the requirements you’ve listed show a complete lack of sincerity.”

”You can let all the parents here take a look. Besides the height requirement, who *doesn’t* meet the rest of your conditions?”

”Matchmaker, she wrote it like that on purpose,” a woman who knew the inside story chimed in. ”These days, if a divorced person lists even slightly high standards, absolutely no one will call.”

”That’s right! Even people looking for their first marriage are having trouble.”

”Her requirements didn’t used to be like this. She’s already lowered them several times.”

Teacher Wang also whispered a reminder from the side, confirming to Zhang Zhe that the older woman hadn’t been like this before.

”My daughter was the one who changed the requirements,” the older woman explained. ”She said she could get married off quickly this way.”

”Then you’ve really pushed her to this point.”

”Listing requirements like these is like you’ve just given up completely.” Zhang Zhe shook his head and asked the woman, ”Is she your biological daughter? Do you absolutely have to marry her off?”

”Of course she’s our biological daughter! What are you talking about?”

”If she doesn’t get married, what will she do when her father and I are gone and she’s left all alone in this world?”

[Then just take her with you when you go.]

[Why don’t you two old folks put in some effort and start a new account to keep her company?]

[With her qualifications, she could consider just having a kid without the dad.]

[If you keep forcing her to find someone, what if she ends up with a man of poor character? She’ll just have to get divorced all over again.]

”Then go home and have a proper talk with her.” Zhang Zhe pushed the profile card forward slightly. ”Have an in-depth conversation with your daughter.”

”Ask her if she truly wants to get married.”

”If she likes them young and handsome, find a live-in son-in-law with a good moral character. If you’re afraid a live-in son-in-law will try to take the entire family inheritance, then find someone stable and dependable. Have her colleagues help with introductions.”

”The requirements you set during matchmaking are for filtering. Height, education, marital history, age—each one is like a separate filter. When you can’t find anyone with all the filters turned on, that’s when you need to start turning one of them off.”

”Ma’am, take another look at the requirements you’ve listed.”

”A residential complex has more requirements for hiring a security guard. This is just absurd.”

’I only list ’female’ as a requirement when I’m trolling,’ Zhang Zhe thought. ’Who trolls when they’re genuinely looking for a spouse?’

”Let me say one last thing. When you set the requirements this low, any man who sees her profile will just assume there’s something wrong with your daughter. Something *very* wrong.”

”No one is going to think they’ve struck gold.”

”That’s true,” an older man nearby said, offering his own experience. ”My younger brother told me that with requirements like your daughter’s, she must be desperate because she can’t find anyone to marry.”

[She really can’t get married off.]

[Is Brother Zhang here to whip the matchmaking corner into shape?]

[I gotta say, this mother is really desperate to marry her daughter off. She’s practically willing to pay a dowry.]

”Alright then, I’ll go home and ask my daughter again.” The older woman stared at Zhang Zhe as if he had something fascinating on his face. ”Sir, what’s your name? I’m a top-tier VIP at your agency. Can I come find you in a few days?”

”I...” Before Zhang Zhe could speak, Teacher Wang cut in, ”Ma’am, you should let our boss handle your case. He said that for a client like you, he must be the one to personally assist you.”

”Fine,” the older woman said, nodding as she stood up.

An older man behind her immediately rushed over to grab the empty seat. Everyone thought Zhang Zhe’s words made sense, and his consultation desk had suddenly become a hot commodity.

Of course, the main reason was that it was free.

The parents worrying about their children’s marriages here were pretty bored; they had practically become NPCs.

The man had just sat down and hadn’t even had a chance to speak when suddenly, a young man climbed a nearby tree and shouted to the crowd:

”Attention, everyone!”

”I have an announcement to make!”

”I’m here looking for a wife!”
