The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1397: Chapter 544: Awakening

Mu Li had something she hadn’t told Zhou Wang.

It was that her aunt, who single-handedly established the Tianque Group, had passed away from cancer two months ago.

The biggest support for the Tianque Group had always come from her aunt’s management. After her aunt’s passing, there was no longer much reason for the opposition to continue supporting the Tianque Group.

Mu Li went to Beidou to try to maintain this relationship, but unfortunately, she failed.

Considering her aunt had accompanied him for many years, the opposition pointed Mu Li toward a final bright path...

This is also why Mu Li saw Zhou Wang as her only hope.

She didn’t believe that someone of his status would talk nonsense.

After her aunt passed away, the Tianque Group, now valued at nearly ten billion, seemed prosperous, but there were endless hidden perils behind the scenes.

Mu Li knew very well that previously her aunt held everything in check, but now many demons and monsters gradually emerged, some seeking to completely bring down the Tianque Group over past grievances, while others viewed it as a lucrative piece of meat, such as...

The financial tycoon groups from Hong Kong Island and Ao Island.

These people had always been major clients of the Tianque Group. They were well aware of the business operations of Tianque. When her aunt’s health started declining, they had expressed their desire to buy shares, which had already raised Mu Li’s vigilance back then.

The Hong Kong Island Consortium had a publicly known trait.

That is ”exclusivity.”

Looking over all the high-quality assets they controlled, they were almost an internal celebration of the capital from Hong Kong Island. Mu Li was too aware that once you let the wolf into the house, forget about maintaining the Mu Family’s position in the Tianque Group, in the end she might even be completely ousted herself.

This was also why she would rather sacrifice some interests and invite Zhou Wang to support the Tianque Group.

She had no better choice.

But now, Wang Chengyun brazenly told her that he had invited those capital representatives from the Hong Kong Island families, and even gave them some kind of prior promise.

How could Mu Li not be frightened?

”What promise?”

Mu Li asked hurriedly, startled and furious.

”It’s nothing significant, just that we are willing to sell part of the group’s equity in principle, in exchange for legitimate operating rights in several industries on Hong Kong Island and Ao Island...”

”’We’?”

Mu Li sneered, ”When did I ever say I agreed with this?”

After speaking, Mu Li suddenly sensed something amiss because she just realized that Xiong Min and Ma Jun were behaving too calmly, as if they had known about this for a long time.

And meeting Mu Li’s gaze, the two of them somewhat unnaturally avoided eye contact.

”You both knew about this already?”

Mu Li felt an anger of betrayal, especially with Xiong Min, the third-largest shareholder, who used to be like siblings to her aunt, a beloved family and friend, brought to prominence step by step by Mu Li’s aunt...

No need to mention Ma Jun, who was merely a street vendor living a precarious life before he met her aunt.

Clearly, they had all benefited from her aunt’s kindness, yet they remained silent at such a time.

”Not only do they know, but they also agreed.”

Wang Chengyun sneered as he spoke on their behalf:

”President Mu, the Tianque Group is not dictated only by you. Although you are the largest shareholder, you don’t hold absolute control. I didn’t want things to get ugly, so I gave you a little leeway, but you brought out this agreement without a word, showing that you have no regard for us. In that case, it seems we don’t need to respect you either.”

”Xiao Li, you also know their methods. If we agree now, we might still secure some benefits, but if it escalates to a hostile takeover, we won’t be able to contend with them...”

Xiong Min looked evasive, but kept her resolve as she spoke.

”Do you know what it means to let the wolf into the house?”

Mu Li rarely lost her composure, angrily saying, ”Do you truly believe that sacrificing some shares will satisfy those people? Go find out for yourselves, how many of the projects they participate in are not under their control?”

Mu Li continued to argue fiercely for a few more sentences. Seeing that they remained indifferent, seemingly having accepted the reality, she finally left in exasperation.

On her way out, Mu Li kept taking deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down.

But the agitated feeling kept pounding at her heart.

On the surface, Wang Chengyun had only given the people from Hong Kong Island a verbal promise and hadn’t signed any formal agreement, as long as Mu Li hadn’t nodded in agreement, seemingly everything could be invalidated.

However, Mu Li understood very well that once Wang Chengyun made such a promise, it was tantamount to giving them a reason to act whenever they wished.

If the outcome wasn’t what they expected, they would immediately resort to all kinds of thunderous tactics, forcing the Tianque Group to submit, even directly devouring Tianque Group’s equity...

Who made the Tianque Group’s own actions less than clean?

After losing the backing of those at the top, Mu Li couldn’t imagine what resistance the Tianque Group could put up against the suppression from the Hong Kong Island Consortium.

Burdened with heavy concerns, Mu Li stopped walking and found herself at the door of the master suite on the top deck.

Acting purely on instinct, she had returned there.

However, this aligned with Mu Li’s underlying thoughts; she needed to have a good discussion with Zhou Wang, even if she couldn’t finalize anything, at the very least she had to get an indication of Zhou Wang’s stance.
