The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1376: Chapter 534: Favor and Authority_2

Perhaps it was also based on such a first impression that later led Huang Duming to unconsciously slack off, so when he was handling various affairs for Zhou Wang in Beidou, he couldn’t keep the tension...

After reflecting overnight, Huang Duming had realized that yesterday’s incident was just a trigger, and that what Zhou Wang was really dissatisfied with were some of his actions in Beidou.

Feeling frustrated in his heart, Huang Duming saw that Zhou Wang still remained silent, so he took a deep breath and continued:

”Mr. Zhou, after much consideration, I still want to request that you transfer me out of Beidou. I think I need to spend a few more years in more grassroots positions within the group. With my current abilities, presiding over affairs in Beidou is actually a bit forced...”

”Oh?”

Zhou Wang paused in his tea-making for the first time and spoke, ”Do you really think that way?”

”Sincerely.”

”Any position is fine?”

”Any position is fine.”

”Even if I make you a security guard, you’re willing?”

Zhou Wang said with a half-smile.

”As long as Mr. Zhou thinks I’m suitable, being a security guard is fine.”

Huang Duming gritted his teeth and nodded.

Zhou Wang neither agreed nor disagreed. After tapping his fingers on the table for a few moments, he suddenly asked, ”When you were in Beidou, did you ever receive expensive gifts from others?”

”No.”

Huang Duming was startled and quickly bowed and replied, ”When I was in Beidou, indeed many people offered me gifts, but I basically found ways to return them... There was only one time when President Qiu Zeyu casually gave me two cartons of cigarettes for internal use. Considering President Qiu’s relationship with you, I accepted them. Other than that, I’ve never accepted any form of gifts... Those two cartons of cigarettes are still at my home, untouched. If you don’t believe me, Mr. Zhou...”

Zhou Wang raised his hand to stop the anxious Huang Duming from arguing further.

”Let’s maintain the status quo for now. Currently, no one knows the matters in Beidou better than you, so you have to stay in this position, but I will dock your bonus for three months. Any objections?”

”No... Thank you for your forgiveness, Mr. Zhou. Rest assured, I won’t betray your trust again.”

At this point, a heavy burden was finally lifted from Huang Duming’s heart, knowing that he had temporarily passed this stage. Only then did he notice how much sweat had seeped through his back in this short period of time.

”But you also need to be prepared. I might transfer you to Hang City later to be in charge of the Wuyou Media business module.”

At this moment, Zhou Wang added lightly.

Inwardly, Huang Duming became restless again because Zhou Wang’s words undoubtedly conveyed a ”retain to observe future performance” message. It was as if telling him not to think that his past would no longer matter, and everything still depended on his future performance.

Just as Huang Duming was feeling a bit dejected, Zhou Wang suddenly gestured, ”Sit.”

Following the instruction, Huang Duming sat across from Zhou Wang. It was only then, with the help of the shifted morning light, that he clearly saw Zhou Wang’s face.

Zhou Wang’s expression was calm, showing no joy or anger, just pushing a freshly brewed cup of tea towards him.

”Try it, it’s Yingdehong tea from Guangfu. It’s said that it used to be the imperial tea of the British Royal Family.”

”Ah!”

Huang Duming responded quickly, carefully lifting the tea cup and taking a sip, immediately praising, ”Indeed, it’s good, seems to have a sweet potato fragrance...”

”I remember you’re from Xiang Province, right?”

Zhou Wang suddenly asked at this point.

”Yes.”

Hastily putting down the tea cup, Huang Duming sat up straight again.

”You still have a younger sister at home, right?”

”Yes, she just entered high school this year...”

”How is her academic performance?”

”She’s doing alright, considered outstanding in our hometown, but definitely can’t compare to top students in big cities...”

For a moment, Huang Duming was unsure if Zhou Wang was chatting or had some purpose, making him cautious.

”The conditions in your hometown aren’t very good, right?”

”It’s relatively average. Our home is in a county town near Zhangjiajie called Sangzhi, considered quite poor. Because of this, I wasn’t keen on going back after graduation. Otherwise, passing a civil service exam at home wouldn’t have been too difficult...”

Huang Duming said with a wry smile.

Zhou Wang tapped on the teapot a few times, then suddenly smiled and said, ”Send your sister to Magic City for schooling. You should know that I have a decent school over there, and I have already spoken with Lin Ran. You can contact her directly, and as for the procedures, you don’t need to worry.”

Of course, Huang Duming was aware of Zhou Wang’s renowned Pinghe School in Magic City, one of the top private high schools in the country. He was about to stand up in astonishment and gratitude.

”Mr. Zhou, this, how can I...”

”Don’t rush; I haven’t finished.”

Zhou Wang gestured again for Huang Duming to sit down.

”Additionally, the group recently planned to select a batch of welfare housing exclusively for internal employees in Beidou, Magic City, Hang City, and Ming City, with no rent required. You are on the first list as well. Later, find Lin Ran to also finalize this matter. From the information they provided, the housing in Beidou seems to be quite good, at least a two-bedroom apartment...”

”Mr. Zhou, this...”

Huang Duming found himself at a loss for words.

”Moreover, in the future, if you or any of your close family members, like your parents, sister, or partner, suffer from a major illness, as long as you’re employed at Wangzhou Group, you can get treatment costs reimbursed according to the position, without conflicting with medical insurance...”
