The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1361: Chapter 528: Sky-high Bill

Selecting a room, storing luggage, and after another round of dawdling, the sky had completely darkened.

After discussion, since in the morning, apart from Yu Duo, the other four girls had all come from out of town, and had gotten up very early and traveled all day, everyone unanimously decided to rest in their rooms tonight and go out tomorrow.

So Zhou Wang asked the butler Charles to help arrange dinner.

At nine in the evening, the executive chef from the restaurant accompanied Charles to personally deliver dinner for five in the six-person dining room of the Sky Suite.

The dinner came from Yun Jing, the high-rise restaurant managed by Pengrui Raffles Hotel, a restaurant rated one diamond by the Black Pearl.

Zhou Wang and the others had checked into the suite around six or seven o’clock, but only had dinner at nine because Zhou Wang requested ”some classic Cantonese dishes.” After all, it was the first meal upon landing in Peng City, and even though it was in the room, Zhou Wang certainly wasn’t going to settle for anything less.

And since Zhou Wang made the request, the butler Charles was bound to comply unconditionally, so the restaurant took great care in preparation, which inevitably took a lot of time.

There was no question that even though a one-diamond Black Pearl restaurant like Yun Jing wasn’t considered particularly notable in the whole of Peng City, the specifications of this dinner, with the executive chef personally overseeing it, still turned out to be incredibly high.

”Mr. Zhou, classic Cantonese cuisine is known for its meticulous selection of ingredients, refined craftsmanship, and fresh and light flavors, focusing more on the original taste and seasonality of the food. To start, we have the premier dish from our Cantonese selection for you and the young ladies.”

As Chef Guo stepped aside, the waitress brought down the first dish from the cart, placing a small pot in front of everyone.

”Rich Soup Heaven Nine Fin!”

As Zhou Wang curiously opened the lid, Mr. Guo timely introduced the name of the dish.

The rest, including Su Yajing, were baffled by the name, unsure what it meant, but upon seeing what was in the pot, instinctively found it unappealing.

This food was unrecognizable and seemed not quite appetizing...

At first glance, it looked like a mixture of rich soup and vermicelli, thick and not visually appealing.

Only Zhou Wang raised an eyebrow and gave Chef Guo an ambiguous look: ”Are you sure this is really ’Heaven Nine Fin’?”

Before Mr. Guo could reply, Su Yajing couldn’t help but ask, ”Brother, what is ’Heaven Nine Fin’?”

”It’s what we Huaxia people generally refer to as ’fish fin’.

Zhou Wang explained, ”But fish fins come in many varieties, like Golden Hook Fin, Sea Tiger Fin, Spring Fin, Butterfly Green... Heaven Nine Fin is the most advanced type of fish fin.”

”So this is the legendary fish fin!”

Su Yajing exclaimed and looked at the fin pot with newfound interest, ”I’ve never had it before...”

”I haven’t had it either.”

Shen Yutong didn’t hide her curiosity any longer, ”But... Which fish’s fin is this from? Why is it so big?”

Shen Yutong tried scooping some with a spoon, puzzled.

Yu Duo couldn’t help but snicker and then tugged at Shen Yutong, ”Sister Tongtong, the so-called ’fish fin’ refers to a shark’s fin, not the usual fish you see...”

”Ah, shark?”

Shen Yutong was momentarily stunned, then embarrassedly lowered her head, ”Sorry, I didn’t know...”

Cui Min’er maintained a composed exterior, but inwardly thought, ”What a close call.”

She didn’t know what ’fish fin’ was either; fortunately, Shen Yutong had asked first, otherwise, she would have embarrassed herself.

Shark’s fin... although Cui Min’er still wasn’t certain what this ingredient was, it sounded high-end.

”Oh, we grew up inland, it’s normal not to know about fish fin.”

Yu Duo unconcernedly shrugged, ”Even though I accompanied my parents on business before and had it once, I didn’t know fish fin had so many names.”

Once the girls had stopped talking, Mr. Guo smiled and answered Zhou Wang’s previous question.

”Mr. Zhou, traditional Heaven Nine Fin usually comes from the fins of whale sharks and large sharks, both of which are nationally protected animals. So if you have to inquire deeply, this obviously isn’t genuine Heaven Nine Fin... However, our restaurant has endeavored to substitute with the fins from farmed sharks that are closer in original flavor, and the taste shouldn’t differ much, so you can enjoy with peace of mind.”

Hearing the chef’s nuanced response, Zhou Wang comprehended and showed some interest.

Regardless of which shark’s fin this fish fin came from, it seemed not that important, after all... it was also Zhou Wang’s first time trying fish fin, just a novelty experience.

While the girls were still taking photos, Zhou Wang had already started eating.

Taking a spoonful of fish fin, he savored it briefly, then somewhat awkwardly put down the spoon.

What to say...

There wasn’t any fishy taste, nor the imagined sea food sweetness, maybe a bit, but very faint.

The fish fin not only looked like vermicelli, but also tasted a bit like it, with more chew and a gelatinous texture, slightly elastic but still smooth...

Alright, can’t make up anymore.

If Zhou Wang had to evaluate, he would say this thing almost had no flavor.

Yes, no flavor.

That was Zhou Wang’s most authentic feeling.

He wasn’t sure if it was the restaurant’s cooking method or the nature of fish fin, but anyway, after one bite, he found it hard to continue eating.
