The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 88: Chapter 83: The Strange Bed

Zhou Wang returned to his room to change clothes and saw that Su Yajing did not show any signs of waking up soon. He left a message on WeChat, told Bella something, and then went downstairs for breakfast.

In the executive lounge, Zhou Wang had a quick bite, and then asked Lao Yang to take him to the mall. After picking up the Ferrari, Zhou Wang drove to Cui Lake Yipin.

When Zhou Wang parked the car and went upstairs, he saw Xu Wenqian sitting on the floor by room 703 with her arms around her knees, looking lost in thought.

She was still wearing a black professional suit, but the style differed slightly from the last time. Her bare legs were exposed without stockings.

What made Zhou Wang a bit awkward was that Xu Wenqian didn’t seem to be aware of the exposure issue. From Zhou Wang’s current perspective, it was quite embarrassing indeed.

Hmm?

...

She actually…

“Sorry, the traffic was a bit heavy. Why didn’t you wait inside?”

Zhou Wang averted his gaze and coughed as he spoke.

Upon hearing Zhou Wang’s voice, Xu Wenqian, who was lost in her thoughts, snapped back to reality and quickly stood up.

“I just arrived too and thought I’d wait for you.”

“Your dark circles are heavy. Didn’t you sleep well?”

Zhou Wang looked at Xu Wenqian in surprise.

“Yeah, I had insomnia last night.”

Xu Wenqian forced a smile, unlocked the door with a code, and gestured for Zhou Wang to enter first.

Zhou Wang walked in and, at a glance, subconsciously nodded. He didn’t have time to look at the details, but the house organized by Xu Wenqian felt much more like a “home” than before.

“Mr. Zhou, please take a look at the kitchen first.”

Xu Wenqian led Zhou Wang to the right into the dining room, pointing out the advanced full-height cabinets and began explaining.

“The Western-style cabinets are custom-made with Kiesel’s Bowman hardware pull-out racks… Look here, the storage cabinet uses an intelligent gradual lighting system…”

“The dining area, following a designer friend’s suggestion, features a Cattelan’s Tyon dining table, made of marble ceramic material…”

“And for the main living room, I chose this Minotti’s Lawrence corner sofa…”

“Now let’s look at the study…”

Xu Wenqian led Zhou Wang through the house. With renewed enthusiasm, she returned to her articulate self.

She still didn’t refer to any materials throughout, and her confident demeanor distracted Zhou Wang.

Though Xu Wenqian’s beauty couldn’t surpass Jiang Mo’s or Ding Yi’s, at that moment, she was exceptionally beautiful.

“Lastly, there’s the bedroom you specifically mentioned.”

Upon reaching the master bedroom, Xu Wenqian inexplicably blushed. The main reason was that Zhou Wang hadn’t made any special requests for other furniture, except for this bed in the master bedroom, which was really—

Standing at the master bedroom’s entrance, Zhou Wang glanced over and, seeing the bed, nodded with satisfaction.

“Nice, this is exactly the bed I wanted.”

“Italian luxury furniture brand, GIORGIO’s Vision series, almost half of the one hundred ten thousand you transferred was spent on this bed…”

Xu Wenqian explained softly, still looking a bit puzzled.

At the time, she found seven or eight different brands and types of beds for Zhou Wang to choose from, and he unhesitatingly chose this one, which she thought he would absolutely dislike.

Didn’t Mr. Zhou think that this bed looked so much like a cage?

Generally, no one would want to sleep in such a place, right…

Or is this exactly what he wanted?

Later, Sun Yi had already told her that when Zhou Wang processed the property deed, he indeed registered another woman’s name.

Linking this to previous speculations, Xu Wenqian didn’t dare delve deeper.

“Mr. Zhou, here’s the final settlement sheet. Please take a look.”

After viewing the furniture arrangements, they returned to the living room, and Xu Wenqian handed over the sorted list for Zhou Wang’s approval.

“The total expense, after rounding off, is 1.07 million. There’s still 30,000 left, which I’ll transfer to you.”

Zhou Wang took the sheet and glanced at it casually. He shook his head at her words.

“No need, consider the 30,000 your fee.”

“Mr. Zhou, this…”

“Don’t refuse anymore.”

Zhou Wang put down the sheet, looking straight at her, “I know you must have put a lot of effort into this. Even if I hired an official designer, it wouldn’t cost less than this, right? It’s what you deserve, as long as you don’t mind it’s small.”

Hearing Zhou Wang’s sincere words, Xu Wenqian’s eyes unexplainably reddened.

She indeed put in a lot of effort, sacrificing several days of annual leave and losing count of how many nights she spent researching materials, not to mention the many visits to furniture companies.

Originally, this had always been her working style, and she didn’t feel it was out of the ordinary, but she could feel that Zhou Wang truly noticed her hard work, which oddly made it difficult for her to hold back.

“Thirty thousand is already a lot, so… I won’t be polite. Thank you, Mr. Zhou.”

Xu Wenqian sniffed, revealing a renewed smile.

“Is there nothing else? Then we…”

Having finished the business talk, Zhou Wang stood up to leave.

“Um, Mr. Zhou…”

Xu Wenqian hesitated for a moment but eventually called out to Zhou Wang.

“Is there anything else?”

Zhou Wang was startled and then sat back down.

Yet, Xu Wenqian got stuck again, looking as if there was something hard to say.

She didn’t know what she was thinking, looking to ask Zhou Wang about such a matter.

Clearly, Zhou Wang was actually a few years younger than her, but she really didn’t know who else to ask.

Moreover, although Zhou was young, the occasional presence he exuded strangely gave people a reassuring feeling.

At least, more so than her boyfriend she couldn’t understand anymore…

Seeing Xu Wenqian struggle to speak, Zhou Wang chuckled, “So difficult, you must not be thinking of asking me for a loan, right?”

“Ah, no, not at all!”

Xu Wenqian quickly waved her hand, “It’s… it’s about some personal matters…”

“Take your time, I have time.”

Zhou Wang’s calm tone finally dispelled Xu Wenqian’s last bit of hesitation.

Taking a deep breath, she began, “It’s like this, you should remember I mentioned I have a boyfriend, right?”

“Yes.”

“We’re… actually almost getting married.”

Though Xu Wenqian said this, her face showed more pain than happiness.

“Recently, we’ve argued several times. They were misunderstandings, and we’ve cleared them up, but… Yesterday, when he visited me drunk, I inadvertently saw his phone, and… found some things I didn’t quite understand.”

Saying this, Xu Wenqian looked at Zhou Wang, tentatively asking:

“Because you must have wider knowledge than me, I wanted to ask if you’ve ever heard of a place called the ‘Golden Palace’?”
