The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 64: Chapter 61: The Skills of a Servant Girl

“I could understand that you’re working, but after you’ve communicated with the client, why would you still need to invite him to dinner?”

Xu Wenqian’s boyfriend, Cheng Zhe, questioned her, suppressing his anger. “And didn’t we agree to have dinner with my uncle and aunt tonight? They’ve already booked the restaurant!”

“What do you even know!”

Xu Wenqian was equally furious.

“Mr. Zhou isn’t just any client, he’s an important client I serve one-on-one. Maintaining a good relationship with him is the basic requirement of my work. We can have dinner with your uncle and aunt anytime, but do you know how hard it is to schedule a meeting with Mr. Zhou? Besides, he hasn’t agreed to anything yet.”

...

“Wenxi, how can you say that?”

Cheng Zhe appeared incredulous. “We’re almost engaged, and you know how good my relationship is with my uncle and aunt. It’s rare for you to have a day off today, and you know how much they’re looking forward to seeing you!”

Hearing her boyfriend say this, a trace of guilt flashed through Xu Wenqian’s heart. She was about to relent, but quickly, following Cheng Zhe’s next question, that trace of guilt disappeared again.

“You’re always busy with work, sometimes not even replying to my messages, yet you’re constantly checking in on this ‘Mr. Zhou,’ saying good morning and good night all the time. Have you considered how I feel?”

“Did you… go through my phone?”

Xu Wenqian looked up, shocked, with disbelief in her eyes.

Cheng Zhe’s gaze flickered, but he still stubbornly replied, “We’ve been together so long, what’s wrong with me looking at your phone? Besides, I wasn’t suspecting anything, I just happened to see it…”

“Enough.”

Xu Wenqian closed her eyes, suddenly feeling incredibly tired and a bit wronged.

She and Cheng Zhe were high school classmates from a small town, and after graduation, they went to the same university. They naturally got together, admired by everyone during their dating period.

Especially recently, after news of their upcoming engagement spread, congratulations flooded in from all family and friends. At that time, Xu Wenqian even thought…

Maybe she and Cheng Zhe could really complete the magnificent transformation from “school uniform” to “wedding dress.”

But today’s quarrel once again laid bare the various problems arising over the past three years since graduation, in a tearing manner before her.

Both of them were just ordinary college graduates, and in today’s world, it was impossible to find any decent work.

Cheng Zhe worked as a network security engineer at a private company. It sounded nice to call him an engineer, but a monthly salary of 3,800 often puzzled Xu Wenqian. Weren’t they saying IT industry salaries were high? Why did it become the bottom level of society for Cheng Zhe?

Cheng Zhe explained that as his experience increased, so would his salary.

But nearly three years had passed, and Xu Wenqian didn’t see much difference between 5,500 and 3,800.

Through her own efforts, Xu Wenqian joined a bank, obtaining a halfway decent job.

Half a year ago, due to her outstanding performance, she was transferred to the marketing department, and Zhou Wang was her first important client since her transfer to client manager.

Zhou Wang had high comprehensive scores within the bank, and her superiors had high expectations of her. It’s no exaggeration to say that providing good service to Zhou Wang would directly impact her performance evaluation and was crucial for her potential promotion to Senior Client Manager.

Therefore, she could hardly accept that while she racked her mind striving for her future, Cheng Zhe was holding her back.

“Wenxi, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have gone through your phone…”

Noticing his girlfriend’s upset expression, Cheng Zhe finally panicked.

“I need to go back to work overtime, let’s postpone looking at the house.”

Xu Wenqian picked up the Coach purse beside her and turned to leave.

“Hey, you two!”

At this point, the real estate agent who had been quietly watching the scene couldn’t help but speak up.

“I need to remind you, this house, even though it’s a resettlement house in this location, is really in demand. If you don’t decide soon, I can’t guarantee you’ll find such a good one at the same price!”

Xu Wenqian paused, looking back at the still unfinished two-bedroom apartment. Thinking of Zhou Wang’s casual tone when mentioning buying a house with 5 million, she suddenly laughed.

As she laughed, tears flowed out.

Then, Xu Wenqian turned and left without looking back.

“Wenxi, Wenxi…”

A flustered Cheng Zhe quickly followed after her.

…

In the afternoon, Zhou Wang received a video call from Su Yajing while taking a break at a coffee bar above the library. He thought for a moment and stepped out onto the rooftop.

“Brother~”

Sure enough, as soon as the call connected, Su Yajing’s coy voice came through.

If someone was next to him, Zhou Wang would have surely died of embarrassment on the spot… Who calls “brother” like that, anyway?

“Am I bothering you?”

Perhaps noticing Zhou Wang’s unnatural expression, Su Yajing quickly asked cautiously.

“No problem, go ahead.”

“Hehe, Brother, look quickly, isn’t this bag super cute?”

Su Yajing moved the phone back a bit, showing Zhou Wang the milkshake white Brinkin bag she was wearing on her shoulder. “I love this color to death, it feels whiter than my skin!”

“Really?” Zhou Wang laughed. “Why do I feel like your white is still creamier?”

“Naughty!”

Su Yajing bit her lip with a smile, tugging at her neckline. “Well… when will Brother come back to drink some milk? All natural!”

“I might be late today.”

Though tempted, Zhou Wang shook his head.

Having wasted a lot of time in the morning, he definitely needed to stay until evening to catch up on his reading progress.

“Ah…”

Su Yajing looked disappointed, wanting to speak but hesitating.

“What’s up?”

“Well, Brother, I might have to go back to school with Tongtong tonight. I have a final exam tomorrow morning, and I’m afraid I might not make it.”

Su Yajing hesitantly mentioned, then quickly added, “But I’ll come to see Brother right after my exam tomorrow, okay?”

Zhou Wang was startled and then remembered that this period was indeed exam time for many universities, only Cai University got an earlier break.

“Are you finishing your exams tomorrow?”

“Not really, our performance major is a little tricky – we have to test all subjects over five days!”

“Five days?” Zhou Wang frowned.

“Brother, don’t be mad. I can actually stay with you tonight and rush to school in the morning…”

Seeing Zhou Wang frown, Su Yajing seemed a bit flustered and quickly added.

“What are you thinking? Why would I get mad over this?”

Zhou Wang shook his head helplessly. “I meant you shouldn’t exhaust yourself. You don’t need to come to me tomorrow; stay at school and focus on your exams.”

Cai University wasn’t in the city center, and it took at least an hour each way. For just a few days, it really wasn’t necessary.

“Really?”

“Mm, just take the chance to recharge a bit. Next time in a showdown, I won’t hold back.”

“Hehe, I’m looking forward to it too… With Brother, I can try out so many things.”

When it came to this topic, Su Yajing seemed even more excited than Zhou Wang.

“You’re so young, where did you learn all this?” Zhou Wang couldn’t resist his curiosity, asking.

“The internet is full of it! I’ve watched a lot of related content before. Honestly, I might be more curious than many boys!”

Su Yajing openly shared her experiences and finally added shyly, “I was just afraid of causing any trouble before, so I didn’t dare go too far. Now, with all my skills, I can finally practice them freely on Brother.”

Little vixen!

Delighted, Zhou Wang chatted with Su Yajing a little longer before cutting off the video hastily.

Zhou Wang had actually eaten quite well last night, so it was just right to spend the next week in quiet contemplation and earn the rewards from the “Golden House.”

After all, having a million-dollar sports car didn’t quite feel right without a billion-dollar mansion!
