The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 78: Chapter 74 Oppa Says No

Since the reward depended on the level of surprise Su Yajing felt, this so-called “confession” couldn’t be just casual.

It needed to align with Su Yajing’s personality, so she’d feel maximum surprise.

Zhou Wang hadn’t quite figured it out yet, but he thought it was always good to start with some preparations.

Thinking about it, Zhou Wang picked up the phone and made a call.

…

When Zhou Wang got back to the Cartier counter, four girls were already seated in the lounge area, trying on a bracelet just like the one worn by BLACKPINK member Jin Zhixiu.

...

Isn’t this just a bent long nail?

Zhou Wang glanced at the bracelet clasped around Cui Min’er’s fair wrist and couldn’t help but mentally comment.

The key was that there wasn’t just one bracelet of this style on the table… This seemed to be a classic series from Cartier.

Zhou Wang really couldn’t understand the inspiration sources of these high-end brand designers, but it seemed like not only Cui Min’er liked it a lot, Su Yajing and Shen Yutong also had their eyes shining. Only Yu Duo had an expression of complete disinterest.

“Ladies, currently the small rose gold diamond-encrusted JUSTE UN CLOU is the only piece in stock. If you miss it, who knows when it will be back in stock again; you do understand this is our popular item…”

Seeing Cui Min’er’s interest, the female sales assistant took the chance to push the sale.

“How much is it?”

Cui Min’er asked.

“The current price for the diamond-encrusted version is 38,800. If you purchase now, I can throw in some extra gifts for you.”

“Please wrap it up for me first. I’ll make a call.”

Cui Min’er gracefully took off the bracelet. While the sales assistant, whose smile had grown a bit more enthusiastic, was busy packing, Cui Min’er also took out her phone, found an app called “Kakaotalk,” and made a video call.

(Note insert: “Kakaotalk” is Korea’s most popular chatting app, similar to WeChat and QQ in China.)

“She’s calling her fiancé for money!” Su Yajing snuggled up to Zhou Wang and whispered in his ear.

Du Du!

However, Cui Min’er’s video call was quickly hung up with busy tones clearly coming from her phone.

“Min’er, why won’t your boyfriend answer your call?”

Yu Duo curiously asked, “Didn’t you tell him in advance?”

“I told him I was going shopping today; he must be busy… uh, he replied, saying he’s inspecting the family business, and he’ll call me back in a while.”

Seeing the message, Cui Min’er quickly returned to a relaxed posture and even emphasized the words “family business,” glancing sideways at Zhou Wang and Su Yajing.

Zhou Wang noticed her little gesture and couldn’t help but find it amusing.

Although Su Yajing hadn’t been explicit, after some interactions, Zhou Wang could tell she and Cui Min’er were actually competing covertly.

Bringing Zhou Wang to this group activity with her dorm mates today, Su Yajing was definitely planning to show off a little.

Cui Min’er caught Zhou Wang’s amused smile and thought he was mocking her. She couldn’t help saying, “Zhou Wang, Yajing also really likes this bracelet.”

“Really?” Zhou Wang looked at Su Yajing.

“It’s pretty good, but unfortunately, there’s only this one rose gold diamond-encrusted piece in stock, so I’ll have to leave it for Min’er.”

Su Yajing nodded, saying with a slight regret.

“The diamond-encrusted ones are sold out, but the cheaper standard ones are still available.”

To Cui Min’er, Su Yajing’s explanation seemed like an excuse for Zhou Wang, so she just smiled and said.

“Ugh, the standard one is so plain, I don’t like it at all!”

Su Yajing said with a grin, pointing to another sample on the table.

“If I really were to buy one, it should be that platinum bracelet full of diamonds, but it’s too expensive to afford.”

Zhou Wang followed her finger to see a bracelet similar in style to the one Cui Min’er chose, from the same series. However, anyone could tell at a glance that they were not in the same league.

“How much is this one?”

Zhou Wang casually asked.

“Sir, this is the most expensive bracelet in the JUSTE UN CLOU series, encrusted with a total of 624 round brilliant-cut diamonds. The current price is 665,000.”

The female sales assistant waiting for Cui Min’er’s payment hurriedly replied.

However, the sales assistant was a bit disappointed that after hearing the price, Zhou Wang just said “Oh” without further discussion.

But the sales assistant didn’t really expect Zhou Wang to buy it. After all, this price wasn’t something an average person could bear, so she didn’t show any odd expressions on her face.

Only Cui Min’er showed a slight disdainful smile. Not even considering buying the standard one, what was the point of asking about the most expensive platinum version?

Not even her well-off fiancé would buy something this expensive for her. The nearly 40,000 bracelet Cui Min’er chose had already been carefully selected by her as something within the range she believed her fiancé could accept.

Ring ring ring…

At this moment, Cui Min’er’s phone rang; she glanced at the screen and hurriedly smiled as she answered the video call.

“자기 (darling), 수고했어…”

With Cui Min’er’s greeting, a man’s voice came from the other end of the call, sounding rather gentle.

Of course, Zhou Wang couldn’t understand a word of their conversation, nor could Shen Yutong and Su Yajing. Only Yu Duo sat next to them, listening eagerly.

“To better communicate with Min’er, I taught myself Korean!”

Facing Zhou Wang’s curious look, Yu Duo puffed up her almost nonexistent little chest and softly said with some pride.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, the whole world knows you’re the best!”

Shen Yutong rolled her eyes at her, also whispering, “Now hurry and translate!”

“Well, they’re exchanging greetings… greetings done, Min’er’s talking about the bracelet, her Woo-bin oppa is asking about the price… uh?”

Yu Duo stumbled a bit with her real-time commentary, and the three noticed that Cui Min’er’s smile had turned stiff.

“What happened, what happened?”

Eager for gossip, Su Yajing urged, “Duoduo, say something!”

“It seems her oppa thinks it’s too expensive and there’s no need to spend money on such accessories…” Yu Duo’s voice got even smaller.

As Su Yajing and Shen Yutong showed various expressions, Cui Min’er urgently said something, while the man’s voice on the other end grew impatient.

“…이렇게하자!”

The man said something one last time, then hung up.

Facing their gossiping looks, Yu Duo quietly said, “Oppa said Min’er’s expenses are over budget this month, and he can only transfer her one million Korean Won for some clothes.”

“How much is one million Korean Won?” Zhou Wang, intrigued by the number, couldn’t help asking.

Su Yajing lightly coughed and whispered, “About 5,000 RMB…”
