Pillar of Yita

With so many professions, it’s clear that not everyone aboard the ’Seven Seas Traveler’ can have their own dedicated cabin, so determining which cabins are necessary is an important question.

This is essentially a process of elimination.

Elisa’s Nightingale’s Poison Room can actually be partially replaced by the Alchemy Workshop, as poisons below level three can be completed within the scope of Magic Potion Studies, so it’s the first to be eliminated.

Next is the Prayer Room, which can provide a certain buff to the entire ship and enhance the figurehead’s effect, as well as provide some morale boost to the sailors. However, it’s not essential for everyone.

The Magic Guided Tower, Crow’s Hang, shooting and cannon deck, and Construct Deployment Pod are all essentials for air battles and are not considered by everyone.

In the end, they decided on the Beast Pens, a central activity room with a large organ, and a crystal device.

With the Beast Pens, the Beast Tamer can nurture some special creatures on the ship. For an exploration ship, beasts of burden are indispensable. Moreover, the Beast Pens can also supply some fresh poultry and dairy products, as no one wants to eat bug-infested biscuits and dried meat all the time on the ship.

This is especially true in poorly supplied areas, like the current situation.

As for the large instrument on the ship, it is a necessary guarantee for the poet’s combat power, especially when Tianlan’s level is not high.

Upon hearing that Tianlan was going to have his own organ, his originally melancholic face, due to homesickness and illness, lit up again. Everyone understood that this decision was certainly worthwhile.

After all, an Adventure Group first needs people, and people are often the core of an Adventure Group.

Lastly, the crystal device is actually a large Wind Element radar, a standard on many warships. Fang Hong wanted this simply out of curiosity as he had heard about it for a long time.

So he used his captain’s authority to make the decision—additionally, since it had some utility, neither Atira, the Big Cat People, nor Bakins opposed it.

”Lastly, there’s the issue of sails.”

Today’s discussion went very smoothly, leaving Fang Hong very satisfied.

He looked at the others and posed the last question:

”Do you think the Seven Seas Traveler needs to have wing sails installed?”

The so-called wing sail is indeed the biggest difference between a Floating Ship and an ordinary sailing ship.

Because a Floating Ship doesn’t need to sail on the water surface, its ’sails’ naturally don’t only need to be located above the ship.

Thus, for a Floating Ship, several types of exotic sails have evolved—the ones located on the left and right sides of the ship, resembling wings, are called wing sails. Wing sails can perform certain angle movements, which can increase the ship’s speed when sailing with the wind.

The sails located at the bottom of the ship are called fin sails, generally used to assist in steering and provide longitudinal stability.

There’s also a small wing located at the bow to enhance sailing against the wind.

The tail sail, for lateral stability and enhancing the ability for small-radius turns.

The main horizontal fin-like Fin Sail laid out along the ship’s rail line, like fish scales, is an even more special sail type, typically only appearing on large warships.

Fang Hong’s proposal for wing sails was to improve the ship’s maneuverability, as the ’Seven Seas Traveler’ is too small and not very suitable for long-range voyages. However, wing sails are expensive, and generally, unless it’s a warship, few Floating Ships would consider them.

Of course, when Fang Hong raised this question, it wasn’t without considering their affordability—the sail masts don’t require expensive Magic Oak or Blackwood; sturdy Redwood can suffice. And Lady Kuisu and her logging team would provide a continuous supply of high-quality Redwood, so this need is not a concern at all.

As for the sail materials, Fang Hong already had some ideas.

Enchantment Canvas made by Alchemy is expensive, but natural materials can be used as substitutes. As he knew, not far from the Great Canyon in front of them, in the Panier Red Mountain, live many Silver Mane Giant Spiders.

Their silk, after being treated to remove stickiness, becomes a naturally tough sail cloth material—

Though it’s not as durable as Enchantment Canvas, it has the advantage of being cheap and lightweight, and they can prepare plenty.

Of course, these ’big guys’ are not exactly hospitable.
