Pillar of Yita

”Ambassador, I can assure you that for our division, this was merely a normal trial mission, not a deliberate attempt to participate in the resurrection of the Evil God. We were simply deceived by others. As you must understand, Invokers by nature are explorers. In our quest to investigate this world, we inevitably come into contact with some negative elements, but this does not mean we are in violation of the ’Stargate Declaration’—”

No sooner had the person in charge of the BBK League sat down and begun his explanation than the ambassador shook his head, interrupting him, and asked, ”Let’s set that aside for now. Can you get in touch with your people?”

The person in charge shook his head, ”I’m sorry, Ambassador. The instigator used some kind of power to interfere with their communications. We are also victims. Our division has lost quite a few members, all of whom are the future elite of the Guild, and some didn’t even fall to the enemy. I’m certain that that conflict had nothing to do with dark forces.”

He finished speaking and felt the hall become quieter; many turned their heads to look at him, their brows furrowed and their eyes even held a touch of disdain. But the person in charge sat on the sofa, indifferent, his expression unchanged—business guilds are under the jurisdiction of the Super Competitive League and have no ties with the military. He knew he only had to answer truthfully and give no cause for complaint, but as for the interests that needed to be fought for, he would not yield an inch.

Ambassador Liao remained calm and composed, ”Can you think of any other way?”

”I’m afraid not, Mr. Ambassador.”

He wanted to say more, but the ambassador raised his hand to stop him, saying, ”If it’s of no help, then let’s wait for the outcome of this incident before discussing further.”

The person in charge furrowed his brow, thinking of the many tasks he had to attend to, but since the Stargate Port was under military control, leaving an impression of non-cooperation would not bode well for the Guild’s subsequent defense. He had to sit patiently.

He found the current event somewhat contemptible, but to pass the time, he looked over at the large screen nearby. He had heard what Fang Hong had said earlier, and couldn’t help but snicker inwardly at the thought of a mere lost soul daring to challenge a subsidiary guild of BBK with the military backing them.

The Jiefulite Red Cloak Team played the villains in this incident, an undeniable fact that could potentially damage their reputation. Yet, fortunately, the damage was reparable—the person in charge thought it better to teach the youngster a lesson, also showing the military that working with Free Summoners was futile and that the state could only rely on the Guild Alliance.

He knew that due to the Murky Domain and a string of failures in recent times, some strange voices had emerged within the military. These voices, albeit soft, were not a good sign.

Wearing a slight smirk at the corner of his lips, he watched the youth on the screen who looked exhausted but still made grand statements. He even looked on with a touch of anticipation for the next scene, eager for the young members to display the caliber of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team and effortlessly vanquish their opponent.

Since things had come to this, better to show how well trained the future generation of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team was. This might become a significant factor when considering BBK League’s future contribution to the strength of the China Competition Region during the defense.

But nothing happened.

The members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team neither formed up nor coordinated with one another, and before they could take action, a gold light shot into the crowd. Fortunately, the quick-eyed Ranger of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team shouted, ”Don’t hide, it’s just a Clockwork Fairy!”

Don’t hide, it’s just a Clockwork Fairy—

King’s Square fell silent, then moments later erupted into wild laughter.

Those from Jiefulite had probably never anticipated their shout would create waves of mirth thousands of miles away, providing the only moment of near hysterical laughter amidst the anxiety that had preceded it.

”Hahaha, are these guys in red clothes idiots?”

”Even those monsters earlier wouldn’t approach, yet they still don’t hide. Do they think they are tougher?”

But of course, members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team, with an average level of only 15, could not possibly be tougher than Dragon’s Claw minions averaging levels 17 or 18. Sadly, they failed to realize this.

The Jiefulite members heeded their comrade’s call and reacted promptly, thinking it a ruse by their enemy, and promptly stood their ground, raising their guard against a possible surprise attack from another direction.

A ’pfft’ was heard; someone in the emergency command center couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the scene, despite the seriousness of the situation.

Even Ambassador Liao’s face bore a faint smile at the reaction of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team, shaking his head—whether it was a sympathetic shake for their ignorance of danger or a helpless smile over the quality of the next generation of the China Competition Region was uncertain.

”What’s so funny?”

The BBK League’s person in charge was still puzzled but had already begun to feel an ominous premonition. He looked around at others, and suddenly, a flash caught his eye.

The sudden intense, all-encompassing white light nearly swallowed everything in his vision—

The theoretical center explosion damage of a Fire Giant was enough to instantly kill any non-elite Monster below Level 30, and it was even more so for Natives and Chosen.
