Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

Return of the Mark

Early the next morning, Lola opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was the delicate face of a young girl.

Startled for a moment, Lola felt this face looked rather familiar. After double-checking, she realized that the ”Queen” was currently being held in her arms.

Thinking of what had happened, Lola quickly let go of her hands.

With her hand suddenly withdrawing, Serea was startled awake. After blinking a few times, Serea woke up and, seeing Lola looking at her in shock, she subconsciously said,

”Morning.”

”Q-q-queen!”

Realizing her own loss of composure, Lola hurried to get up and then bowed beside Serea, saying,

”I-I’m sorry, queen. It was my lapse—please punish Lola to vent your anger, Your Majesty.”

As Lola spoke, Serea was instantly rid of any lingering sleepiness. She coughed a couple of times to ease the awkwardness.

”Ahem, it’s... it’s fine. Since you’re awake, hurry and get up. We still have a lot of work to do.”

”Yes, queen. Thank you for your forgiveness, Your Majesty.”

Lola replied, yet faced with such a delicious... ahem, cute little girl, how could Serea bear to actually punish her?

At that moment, Celia and Vina, who had already gotten up and dressed, walked into the tent. Lola quickly got up to get dressed too, and then, with the assistance of Lola and Vina, Serea finished putting on her clothes. When she stepped outside, Dorulu, Doluka, and Camilla—the three ”elf handmaidens”—were already waiting.

After greeting them out of habit, Serea led the group to the camp, which was under construction.

There, under Leklis’s control, the skeletons were industriously clearing the land, while in the distance, thanks to Flosa’s efforts, a quarter of the perimeter wall had already been erected.

”Oh, my lady, have a look—this level ground is no less than a work of art!”

Leklis said enthusiastically. Hearing this, Serea praised him.

”Well done, but it’s not enough yet. Level the entire planned area of the camp.”

”Ah... well, alright...”

With Little Black watching from behind, leklis had no choice but to continue ”working” for Serea.

By now, Aruka had already taken people out hunting, and everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion. Serea thought she should go complete the tasks left unfinished the previous day.

...

Arriving at the designated location for planting the Elf Tree, Serea found that the original Elf Tree seeds had already grown into saplings—twenty in total. Behind the clump of Elf Trees, two large plots of land had been cleared. One of them was already being piled with stones, the site for the future ”Blood Well.”

”We have to get the Blood Well built quickly.”

Serea said, worried that the Blood Spring (corrupted) she had in storage would be depleted and the blood slaves would go berserk.

”With Little Black and the others helping, if we have one more day, the Blood Well will be finished.”

Lola replied. By now, the circular foundation of the Blood Well had already been built, so the project would indeed be done soon.

”That’s good. Next, let’s take a look at the Elf Trees.”

Before the Elf Tree cluster, Serea swept her gaze across the Elf Tree saplings. Seeing this, Lola thought Serea intended to infuse the Elf Trees with the power of nature once again.

”Queen, if you haven’t mastered the power of the ’Queen’s Mark’ yet, please give up on planting the Elf Trees for now.”

Worried that the Queen might faint again from using nature’s power, Lola advised her, but Serea replied,

”It’s alright, because from now on, the Elf Trees will be handled by you, Lola.”

”Huh?”

Lola was confused and asked,

”But I...”

Before she could finish, three green leaf marks appeared on her forehead. Vina, Dorulu, and Doluka were all stunned at the sight.

”Lola, your forehead!”

”My forehead?”

Lola, puzzled, reached up and touched her forehead, immediately feeling that familiar power.

It was the ”Queen’s Mark” of the Darkmoon clan!

”This is the power of the royal bloodline, but why has the ’Queen’s Mark’ returned to me?”

Lola looked at Serea in confusion, and Serea’s face flushed a little.

”Umm... Last night I returned the Queen’s Mark to you through the ’Covenant Ritual’ so...”

Before she finished speaking, Lola suddenly asked in a trembling voice,

”So, Your Majesty, are you going to leave us?”

Seeing Lola’s ”If you say yes, I’ll cry for you now” expression, Serea hurriedly waved her hands.

”No, no, no! The reason I returned the ’Queen’s Mark’ to you is because I now have this.”

As Serea spoke, she gestured to her own forehead, where three blood droplets bloomed like a flower.

The Elf King’s Mark!

”It’s the power of our King, loen!”

Vina recognized it at a glance, and when Lola saw the mark on Serea’s forehead, she covered her mouth, a look of disbelief spreading over her face.

”The explanation is complicated, but in short, you inherited two marks, although you weren’t aware that they had merged. Now that both powers have awakened, I, as the Queen of the Elves, return the ’Queen’s Mark’ to you.”

Serea finished speaking, thus resolving the matter.

Upon hearing Serea’s words, Lola, moved, knelt before her.

”Yes, queen, I will never disappoint your expectations!”

”Hmm, although we now have two members of the elven royal bloodline...”

”No, queen Serea, you are the only queen of our people.”

Lola interrupted Serea, and seeing the firmness in her eyes, Serea said nothing more.

”That’s right, I am the queen of all of you. However, Lola, now that this power is returned to you, so too is the responsibility for Elven affairs.”

”As you command, queen.”

Lola agreed, and looking at the ”Elf King’s Mark” on Serea’s forehead, her face blushed slightly.

If Serea was the only queen of the Darkmoon clan, and Lola herself inherited the ”Queen’s Mark,” then didn’t that mean...

Serea didn’t notice what Lola was thinking. She simply said calmly,

”So, Lola, from now on please handle the Elf Tree and Spring of Life. I’m not very good at those things.”

”Ah... yes, please leave them to me.”

Lola stopped her wild thoughts, and after returning the ”Queen’s Mark,”

Serea completely relaxed.

”Now, let us see just how powerful the true strength of the Elves is!”

As Serea spoke, she walked to the empty plot reserved for building the ”Queen’s Wooden House,” and at the same time, took out the building blueprint she had just acquired.

Elf Tree Blood Elf Hive Unlock (Gold): Unlocking requires 100 blood crystals and a prerequisite item, ”Elf Tree Seed.” (Occupies 2500 square meters of land)

”Lola, do you have any more Elf Tree seeds?”

”Oh, yes, but, queen, what do you need the seed for?”

”You’ll find out in a moment.”

While speaking, Serea took the pouch handed to her by Lola and then took out an Elf Tree seed from it.

Looking at the light green seed in her palm, Serea knew that this tiny seed was the foundation of the Elves’ existence. Now, it was time to witness a miracle.

Burying the Elf Tree seed in the prepared empty ground, Serea prepared to unlock construction.
