Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

Preparing to Migrate

”Vampire?”

Serea felt somewhat surprised.

System: The special individual among blood slaves is called a ’vampire’. Vampires possess much greater strength than blood slaves, and their physical recovery is extremely strong. They are no longer reliant on the Blood Spring (corruption), and can even help blood slaves break free from the control of the Blood Spring (corruption). Once a vampire is born, it is recommended that the host reinforce their control over them.

”Tsk tsk, a natural-born independent and traitor, huh?”

Thinking of this, the paranoid Serea decided that no matter how powerful Camilla became, she must stay by her side, and unless absolutely necessary, she would never allow her to command her blood slaves.

Noticing Serea looking at her, Camilla appeared rather timid. She hugged her priest’s staff in front of her, attempting to use the slender staff to hide herself.

”Q... Queen, hello.”

”Mm, you’ll stay here from now on. Although there is some element of force, I’m sorry—for my own safety and that of my tribespeople, you can only remain here.”

”Yes...yes, queen.”

Camilla did not dare argue.

So, with that settled, the others...

”Huh? Where’s Lord Little Black?”

Dorulu looked around, but the expected skeleton was nowhere to be seen.

”Little Black is usually responsible for patrolling outside, so unless something happens, Na usually won’t appear inside the camp.”

”Huh?”

Doluka let out an odd cry, then showed a disappointed expression.

”I thought that becoming the Queen’s handmaiden would mean seeing Lord Undead every day...”

”Tsk tsk.”

Serea smacked her lips. Seeing this, Doluka quickly rebuked.

”Dorulu, don’t be rude.”

”Mm.”

Serea suddenly felt that this group of maids seemed unexpectedly troublesome...

But whether they were troublesome or not, as long as the maids looked good, who would really expect them to actually serve her?

Comforting herself this way, Serea walked out of the wooden house. Overlooking the entire Elf village from above, she took in the current full view of the Elf village.

The previous battle had damaged many houses, so there were very few livable homes left. Luckily, Aruka and the others brought tents with them, but even so, the camp’s area was still too small.

”Queen, as the tribe has grown, the space in the camp is no longer enough.”

”Yes, I know, so I need to consider this.”

Serea said as she looked over the war-torn camp. Besides the lack of space, she had another concern.

War!

Since yesterday, Serea had been pondering one thing: if humans continued to advance, it was only a matter of time before they were discovered. Moreover, the incident of attacking the Empire’s troops would be hard to keep secret.

Thinking of this, Serea asked,

”That human mage from yesterday?”

Serea asked Vina.

”That mage named Flosa has already drunk the Blood Spring and has been transformed into a blood slave, so I asked Captain Eighty to take him to familiarize himself with his new duties.”

”Duties? I’m quite curious.”

”I’ll go call him for you.”

”No need, take me there instead. I want to see what kind of work it is.”

”Then, queen, please follow me.”

With that, Vina led Serea down from the wooden house. After passing a few Elf Trees, they arrived at the main gate.

At this moment, eighty was leading several Skeleton Heavy Warriors and a few humans, standing by a broken section of the wooden palisade.

Then, with a swing of Eighty’s hammer—

Bang!

That broken section of the wooden palisade was knocked a few meters away, creating a gap. Eighty stepped aside, then Flosa began to chant magic.

”O earth elementals, guardians of the land, heed my command!”

Rock Wall!

The stones and earth on the ground began to rise, and then at the gap in the wall, a section of earth and stone rose up to match the height of the surrounding wooden palisade.

”!!!”

Watching the earth and stone wall form instantly, Serea couldn’t help but estimate—for the same section of wooden palisade, even with the Skeleton Warrior’s help, it had taken a whole hour to build, but Flosa managed with just one spell, and it was an even sturdier stone wall.

Although the stone wall was a bit uneven, with some finishing touches, it could definitely serve as a real defensive wall.

”Is this the ’work’ you mentioned?”

”Yes, queen. With him here, any walls destroyed by humans can quickly be repaired.”

Vina explained, and Flosa and the others also noticed Serea’s arrival.

”Queen.”

”Queen of the Elves, greetings.”

Both Eighty and Flosa greeted Serea, along with one more human.

”Hello, queen...”

Maro wasn’t sure how to address Serea, so followed the others and called her Queen.

”It’s you. Why are you here?”

”Uh... Lady Vina asked me to watch the gate here. She said if any humans came, I could handle it.”

”Oh? You’re on gate duty?”

”Yes.”

Looking at Maro, already transformed into a blood slave, Serea remembered na had been a noble of the Holy Dragon Empire.

”Then guard the gate well.”

”At your command, queen.”

Maro replied. Although na very much wanted to return to the Holy Dragon Empire, sadly, Na was now controlled by the Blood Spring (corruption), and couldn’t leave.

However, maro held no resentment, since without Serea, Na and na’s companions would have perished in Addis’ ancient tomb. Being alive now was already immense luck.

Back to the main topic, seeing Flosa use magic to construct walls, Serea felt she had found a treasure.

”How many of these walls can you build in a day?”

”If I have mana recovery potions, I can keep building.”

”I see. Then the construction of the tribe’s walls from now on will be your responsibility.”

”Yes, queen.”

Flosa agreed. Although it felt like a waste for a genius mage like him to do a bricklayer’s work, he stayed on to atone for his past sins against the Elves, and was happy to help them rebuild their home.

”But for now, just do easy repairs to these walls. No need to go overboard—after all, we don’t even know if they’ll be put to use yet.”

Serea said, and hearing this, Lola seemed to realize something.

”Queen, do you mean...”

”Because of the constant human advance, we might have to leave. I don’t need to keep this a secret from you.”

Serea said, and Lola asked,

”Then I’ll have the tribespeople prepare to migrate.”

”Uh... You’re so willing to accept this? This village was built through such hardship. Aren’t you saddened to just abandon it?”

Serea voiced her doubts. Lola answered naturally,

”Not really, because we also migrated here step by step, and along the way, we built many similar villages, but for various reasons, we abandoned them all.”

As she spoke, a trace of sadness flickered in Lola’s eyes.

Seeing this, Serea basically understood—the so-called ’various reasons’ were just like today. While the Darkmoon Elf clan was accustomed to a life of ’migration’, it was only because of the environment. After all, this was the eastern continent...

”I see, then let’s move a little farther away. This will be the last time.”

Saying this, Serea turned to look at the rows of Elf Trees in the Elf village.

It was no longer safe here, for according to news from Little Black, the destruction of the scouting party hadn’t slowed the humans at all. Instead, they had started mobilizing their main army.

To avoid a bigger conflict, since Serea had recovered the supplies, she felt it was time to move on.
