Berserk God of War

156: Chapter 156: You Are Like a Beast Trapped in a Cage 156: Chapter 156: You Are Like a Beast Trapped in a Cage Within Yunzhou Prefecture, at this moment, in an opulently lavish courtyard, the faint sound of a zither could be heard.

Leng Huo, leading Sikong Jing, arrived at the entrance of the courtyard, “Go in.

The Ninth Princess is waiting for you inside.”

With a nonchalant smile, Sikong Jing stepped forward into the courtyard.

Soon, a pavilion came into view.

Surrounding the pavilion were dozens of palace maids, still as clay statues, while in the center sat a beautifully dressed woman playing the zither—none other than Yan Ruyu.

Sikong Jing stood still, his expression unchanging, as he let the piece play to its end.

Gently clapping, Sikong Jing calmly said, “Yan Ruyu, your zither skill has improved.”

Lifting her head slightly, Yan Ruyu squinted at Sikong Jing, a smile spreading across her face, “Thank you for the compliment, Brother Jing.

How have you been lately?”

As soon as these words fell, Yan Ruyu took on the air of a lofty goddess, looking down upon Sikong Jing.

Below her peerless visage lay contempt, authority, and an undisguised mockery—it was as if she were gazing at a laughable toy, moreover, a discarded and battered one.

“Not bad, quite comfortable and at ease,” Sikong Jing’s tone remained indifferent, his eyes like the still waters of a lifeless lake, not a ripple to be seen.

Yan Ruyu’s seductive smile slightly chilled as her gaze narrowed.

The response she sought from Sikong Jing wasn’t the one he had just given; she wanted to hear his powerless roars, his angry cries of hatred…

Therefore, Yan Ruyu was somewhat disappointed; she did not like the expression Sikong Jing wore now.

“Oh?

Then why, as a mere commoner criminal, do you not kneel when you see this princess?” Yan Ruyu’s voice grew colder.

But Sikong Jing laughed, responding, “You’ve come all this way to Yunzhou City, surely not for such petty reasons?

To use kneeling to humiliate me is a bit too childish, don’t you think?”

He paused, then mockingly added, “Why not subject me to eighteen kinds of torture and make me scream continuously?

Maybe that would satisfy your twisted sense of conquest?”

With each word he spoke, the mockery in Sikong Jing’s eyes deepened.

At their level of status, kneeling and torture were already trivial matters.

Moreover, Sikong Jing had been stripped of his accomplishments as the Invincible God General, among others, and his Dantian was dug out, his meridians shattered…

In comparison with such mental struggles, what was a little torture?

Yan Ruyu certainly understood this principle, but hearing it from Sikong Jing still irked her.

She forced a smirk, “Are you struggling in your death throes?

Leng Huo tells me you and your ugly woman aren’t doing too badly?”

She dropped the demand for him to kneel and lightly raised her eyebrows when mentioning the ugly woman.

Humiliation, layer upon layer!

The initial decision to send a eunuch from Lord of Yunzhou to bestow marriage to the ugliest in Yunzhou was a spur-of-the-moment idea from Yan Ruyu, designed to let Sikong Jing feel the gap between a goddess from the heavens and an ugly woman from the wasteland.

And of course, the aforementioned goddess from the heavens was none other than herself, Yan Ruyu.

“Indeed, not bad.

At least her heart is beautiful,” Sikong Jing replied calmly.

Yan Ruyu’s gaze turned colder still, followed by a scornful laugh, “Brother Jing, do you know?

The calmer you are now, the more it signifies your anger, your unwillingness, the more you want to kill me.”

“But you can’t do it.

Now, you’re just left with a mouth to talk,” she said.

She didn’t believe Sikong Jing was truly at peace; surely his heart must be roaring continuously.

“Right, I certainly do want to kill you,” Sikong Jing answered without hesitation.

“Kikikiki…”

Yan Ruyu let out a triumphant cackle, leaning in to ask, “I’m very curious, what has sustained you to live until now, two months later?

Is it the thought that one day you might be vindicated?”

For anyone else, faced with the inability to take revenge and the agonizing pain that tears at the heart, the only path left might be suicide.

Even Yan Ruyu thought there was a decent chance Sikong Jing might take his own life.

But he didn’t show it, even feigning calmness, which made Yan Ruyu very curious indeed.

However, Sikong Jing did not answer, his face only bearing a faint smile.

“I understand now, you’re placing your hopes on the brothers from the battlefield, aren’t you?

Thinking they might have a chance to save you?”

Yan Ruyu suddenly guessed a possibility and said, “But what then?

You see, I’ve locked their True Qi, shackled them, and even slandered them as criminals of war.

Do you think they would have a chance?”

“Leng Huo told me that they even knelt for you and even killed the Heir of Prince Zhenyun, Yan Ao, with shock, but they can’t kill me, can they?”

“So powerless, so painful, what are you going to do about it?”

As she spoke, Yan Ruyu stared at Sikong Jing with seemingly innocent eyes.

Then she burst into laughter, holding her stomach, “Hehehe, you can no longer hide it.

I see the ultimate pain in your eyes…”

Finally seeing Sikong Jing lose control of his emotions, Yan Ruyu couldn’t be happier.

But Sikong Jing just wore a cold smile.

He didn’t feel ashamed because of the pain; he could die and endure endless humiliation, but his brothers could not!

Feeling pained for his brothers’ fate, was that something to be ashamed of?

At least Sikong Jing didn’t think so, even after merging with the Blood of Ten Thousand Beasts, he was still human.

A human of flesh and blood.

“Let’s go, accompany me to a place for a stroll.”

After laughing, Yan Ruyu was in a much better mood and began to reach for Sikong Jing’s hand.

But she quickly pulled back.

“I almost forgot, I can’t touch your hand now.

You might not know, but I have a man now.

And I’ve been thinking of cutting off your palms.

Otherwise, I would always feel I’m being unfair to my man.”

Sikong Jing remained expressionless; how could he not be aware that the two from the Shadow Sect had been killed by him?

And this matter had been covered up by Sui Yu.

With that, Yan Ruyu and Sikong Jing left the courtyard and headed to the nearby Martial Arts Arena outside Yunzhou Prefecture, where Sikong Jing could also hear roaring sounds exploding one after another…

Upon entering, they saw terrifying demon beasts caged inside.

In Sikong Jing’s eyes, a cold light suddenly flashed.

There were thousands of demon beasts, all existing within the Transcendent Realm.

At that moment, the True Qi he had been hiding by special means was almost impossible to control.

The Beast Blood within him was nearly drawn out.

However, he forcefully suppressed it with his will.

He could not expose himself now, or more than just one life would be lost.

“Brother Jing, there are so many demon beasts; I’m a bit scared.”

At that moment, Yan Ruyu deliberately voiced her trembling fear, but she immediately slapped a nearby beast with her palm.

With a thud, the demon beast was smashed into meat paste and died.

Having dealt with it, Yan Ruyu then feigned fear again, lightly tapping her chest, “It’s a bit scary, but they are all caged.

I can kill them as I wish, but I won’t do so lightly…”

“Because they are playthings that bring me joy and pleasure.”

Narrowing her eyes with a smile, Yan Ruyu looked at Sikong Jing again, “Eh, they’re quite similar to Brother Jing, aren’t they?”

Beasts in cages, playthings…

this was the predicament of Sikong Jing.

Seeing that Sikong Jing was still relatively calm, Yan Ruyu felt slightly disappointed and asked, “Do you want to know why I brought so many demon beast toys to Yunzhou?”

Of course, Sikong Jing had no idea what she was up to.

“Because a grand plaything needs lesser ones to set it off.”

“Thousands of Transcendent Demon Beasts require a lot of food.

They can eat many people, like a million criminals of war.”
