Berserk God of War

Chapter 688: Chapter 688: Brother, Take Ling’er Home

Upon hearing this, Sikong Ling’s eyes shone clear and bright as she forced herself to stay spirited.

She said to Lin Zhong, ”Brother, Ling’er is so tired. If it’s really you, can you take Ling’er away from here?”

Her eyes slowly dimmed, losing their original color but filled with unparalleled expectations.

The next moment, a hoarse voice rose from Lin Zhong.

”I am not your brother.”

”The Great Elder didn’t lie to you. Your brother has died at the hands of Wang Qing, but I knew your brother. He asked me to live on using his name, to take care of you in his place.”

”He also said your master Mo Ci is not a good person and asked me to kill her.”

Sikong Jing was still frantically assimilating the meridians of the Absolute Night Wolf King, but his voice quivered as he focused on his sister.

He had no other choice but to resort to this flimsy excuse.

”Brother, you always loved to trick me...”

”When we were young, you always lied to me saying that dad and mom would return tomorrow. I would wait in bed, tossing and turning until daybreak, but dad and mom never came back.”

”Then, brother, you said that dad and mom would come back the next day, and then the next day. Do you think Ling’er is foolish?”

This was Sikong Ling’s response to Sikong Jing’s words; she now completely believed that the man in Lin Zhong was her brother.

Because that tone of deceiving her hadn’t changed.

Sikong Jing trembled all over. This had been the excuse he used to deceive his sister ever since their parents vanished; he feared making his sister sad.

Now what was he to do? His sister had completely broken down!

Suddenly, Sikong Ling jolted sharply, crying out, ”Brother, hurry and go... Lian Kegu wants to kill you. It’s enough for Ling’er to know you’re still alive. Wait until you’re safe and then come back here to take Ling’er home.”

The words that followed from Sikong Ling were extremely weak; she was on the brink of death, her blood oozing out from beneath her skin.

However, the next instant, Lian Kegu’s sinister voice said, ”Sikong Jing, if you dare to leave, I guarantee you won’t find even a trace of your sister’s body, not even the slightest residue...”

”Lian Kegu, you...” Sikong Ling was both angry and anxious, but she no longer had the strength to curse, only managing to spurt out a mouthful of blood.

Lian Kegu merely shrugged; he didn’t believe Sikong Jing would just leave.

Indeed... Rustle, rustle, rustle.

Finally, the sound of footsteps crushing fallen leaves softly arose as Sikong Jing stepped out from Lin Zhong.

At this point, he had no choice but to come out.

He obviously couldn’t leave, and he still held onto one last hope—the tears of the Absolute Night Wolf King!

As long as the tears of the Absolute Night Wolf King could work, protecting his sister’s heart meridian, there was still hope.

”Sikong Jing...”

Suddenly, Mo Sang threw down Sikong Ling and stared intently at Sikong Jing with deep-seated hatred.

Now, Sikong Ling was truly beyond saving, utterly destroyed. All she wanted was to kill Sikong Jing.

”So, you are Sikong Jing.”

Lian Kegu slowly began to speak and then pointed to Mo Sang, saying, ”Don’t worry, I’ll block this old hag from Wangyou Sect for you, letting you and your sister have your final farewell...”

”You didn’t even let me say goodbye to my daughter, yet I, Lian Kegu, am more compassionate than you, haha!”

As laughter erupted, Lian Kegu wasted no more words and instantly struck at Mo Sang.

Indeed, he wanted to relish the sight of Sikong Jing and Wang Ge’s catastrophic farewell; the pleasure was incomparable.

Boom, boom, boom... Two Reverse Soul Realm experts had begun battling directly.

Sikong Jing, his expression cold and detached, ignored them and took steps toward Sikong Ling.

Propping herself up, Sikong Ling stared at Sikong Jing and sweetly smiled, ”Brother, so this is what you look like grown up. You’re much more handsome than what I’ve drawn, and even more handsome than the man Wang Qing found.”

”I was so foolish. Wang Qing always said that the dead man was a fake brother, but I just wouldn’t believe it. I’ve been so foolish.”

Tears filled both of Sikong Jing’s eyes. Without a word, he walked over and hugged his sister tightly.

His whole body began to tremble violently, and his teeth chattered loudly.

He was scared. He was terrified...

He feared that the Absolute Night Wolf King’s tears wouldn’t work, afraid that his sister would die in his arms just like nine years ago.

Back then, Sikong Jing had finally joined the Great Shang Army and earned enough money to buy medicine for his sister, only to return home to find her cold body and the doctors powerless.

Now, he had finally killed Mo Ci, and the new ”Supreme Forget Love Technique” was about to be released.

But the scene before him was so similar to that of nine years ago.

Because he had incorporated more of the Absolute Night Wolf’s meridians, meridians of the new cultivation method were now continuously taking shape within Sikong Jing’s body, as if lines were being drawn one after another.

It was almost set to complete the prelude, but it was too late.

”But brother, why don’t you leave? It’s so dangerous here.”

Seeing her brother unable to speak, Sikong Ling added, ”Ling’er is dying, but you can’t die, brother. You still have your wife.”

She still remembered what the human-shaped monster had said; she had a sister-in-law, and her brother was already married.

”Ling’er, brother will not die, and neither will you.”

”This time brother will definitely save you, I will definitely take you back home, you have to believe in brother.”

Sikong Jing’s hoarse voice finally came out, now laced with a thick Demon Intent.

Instantaneously, the fierce beasts in the Ten Thousand Beasts Heavenly Prison shouted: ”Don’t give up, don’t become demonized!”

Sikong Jing was on the verge of becoming demonized, and they were scared.

Unfortunately, Sikong Jing ignored them. Forcibly incorporating more of the Absolute Night Wolf’s meridians had already pushed him to the brink of demonization; given his sister’s current state, how could he possibly control it?

”Of course I believe in you, brother, but life and death are predestined. If anything unexpected happens, don’t be too sad, brother.”

”I’m so happy to see you again, brother. Seeing you alive is enough for Ling’er... By the way, brother, could you take me to meet your wife? And then can we all go back home together?”

”Maybe dad and mom have already cooked a meal and are waiting for us at home.”

At this moment, Sikong Ling spoke again, her voice now as faint as a mosquito’s.

Before Sikong Jing could respond, Sikong Ling whispered again, ”Brother, Ling’er will sleep for a bit. Remember to wake me up when we get home... Please don’t die, Ling’er can’t bear to go through that heart-wrenching fear again.”

As her words softly fell, Sikong Ling gazed at Sikong Jing’s face and slowly leaned against his broad chest, drifting into a deep sleep.

Sikong Jing held his sister tightly, his body trembling madly, tears falling incessantly...

Just at that moment, the last line of the new ”Supreme Forget Love Technique” meridians was drawn, completing the cycle.

But it was no longer of any use; his sister, whose meridians were completely ruined and incapable of cultivation, couldn’t use it.

Sikong Jing didn’t care about the new meridians forming. Instead, he channeled his True Qi into Sikong Ling’s body, trembling with fear as he did so, now depending solely on the tears of the Absolute Night Wolf King.

If his sister really died again, Sikong Jing didn’t know how he would face it, he dared not think about it.

Now, he just wanted to protect his sister’s last breath and prevent her slow, weakening breaths from vanishing completely.
