Chapter 652: Chapter 652: Just Give Them a Beating

Three more months had passed, and with the terrifying speed of Sikong Jing’s progress, it was hard to say to what extent he had developed.

But Hua Lidian firmly believed that at the very least, Sikong Jing was only slightly weaker than Gongyang Ying.

With a cold laugh, Ren Dongmeng continued, ”I really don’t know why you have so much confidence in Sikong Jing, but it doesn’t matter. After all, you are doomed to make a fruitless trip today, while I am destined to reap a great harvest.”

As she spoke, she pointed at Yan Benxing, while still insisting that Sikong Jing would not come.

Hua Lidian was left speechless by her words, indeed uncertain whether Sikong Jing would appear. Now he could only respond with silence.

Meanwhile, Yan Benxing looked towards Gongyang Ren and said, ”Imperial Advisor, please call out Soul Eater for me.”

He was thoroughly enjoying the attention from those around him, having not felt such enjoyment since his defeat to Soul Eater in Wang Hun State. And what was more thrilling was that he couldn’t help but gaze at Gongyang Ying, sensing a great opportunity for himself now.

With his current strength, he was sure he could win her over and take her home!

Gongyang Ren looked back at the arrogant Yan Benxing and saw his presumptuous gaze towards his granddaughter, feeling extremely displeased in his heart.

My granddaughter, the Moon Soul Battle Body, is not something you can covet, is she?

Of course, such words would not be spoken aloud. Taking a deep breath, Gongyang Ren said, ”Aunt Mian, call Soul Eater here.”

The words had already been spoken and could not be taken back, leaving no choice but to have the Soul Eater Leader come out and fight Yan Benxing in a battle to the death.

And so, Aunt Mian flashed to a small corner of the Imperial Advisor Mansion where Sikong Jing was located.

At the same time, in a room on the outskirts of the corner, Sikong Jing furrowed his brows intensely. He could be certain that Mo Ci was waiting for his appearance somewhere around the Imperial Advisor Mansion, and now if he went out to fight Yan Benxing...

It was very likely that he would be discovered prematurely, which might disrupt all his plans.

But with a Golden Body Realm elder by Yan Benxing’s side, it seemed impossible to stay out of the scene...

Musing, Sikong Jing suddenly said, ”Well, then I shall use this battle to lure Mo Ci from the shadows into the open.”

If he wanted to kill Mo Ci and strike her down with thunderous force, he had to lure Mo Ci to appear inside the Imperial Advisor Mansion first. Sikong Jing had already planned to have the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrels manipulate his own aura to draw Mo Ci inside in search of him.

But now, he had to make some changes.

Taking a deep breath, before Aunt Mian arrived, Sikong Jing casually smeared his face with coal ash from the nearby kitchen.

Instantly, his face turned black as char.

Just as he finished and returned to his room, Aunt Mian appeared: ”Soul Eater, Yan Benxing wants to battle you to the death. Come with me!”

Aunt Mian’s attitude towards Sikong Jing was still as brusque as ever.

”Wait a moment, let me wash my face first. I got dirty while searching for something,” Sikong Jing said, pointing at his face covered in coal ash.

Aunt Mian sneered, ”You’re not getting married, so what do you need to look good for? Cut the chatter... and move.”

She didn’t care at all about Sikong Jing’s appearance and immediately swept him up and flashed towards the main hall of the Imperial Advisor Mansion.

And when he appeared, everyone at the venue was stunned. Was this the man called Soul Eater, the one Yan Benxing wanted to kill?

”Could it be that he was burning coal inside the Imperial Advisor Mansion?” someone couldn’t help but ask.

Such an appearance was completely out of place in the luxurious banquet, causing both laughter and disbelief.

But someone else soon spoke up to explain.

”Don’t underestimate him. He is the leader of the Soul Stealers in Wang Hun State, a notorious and terrifying figure. It’s said that Miss Gongyang was held captive by him for many days... cough, cough,”

”Also, in an effort to clear his name, he used Miss Gongyang as a hostage and joined the Imperial Advisor Mansion as a guard.”

”And judging by his appearance, he must have been punished by the Imperial Advisor, relegated to the position of a mere servant,”

The explainer originally wanted to say Miss Gongyang had been violated by him, but he forcefully bit back his words. This was the Imperial Advisor Mansion after all.

If he spoke out, he might very well end up a corpse by tomorrow.

And for Soul Eater to have done such a thing to Miss Gongyang, how could he serve as a normal guard at the Imperial Advisor Mansion? Not being killed on the spot was fortunate enough; being punished to burn coal or something was only to be expected.

Following that, someone else explained the identity of Soul Eater before he became a mountain bandit.

That is to say, the cast-off disciple of the Tieshan Sect plus Lu Lingun’s discarded general—everyone, including the common folk of Wang Hun State, was aware of the affair concerning Gongyang Ying, so the many noble youths present were naturally crystal clear about it too.

”Why does Hero Yan, Yan Benxing, insist on killing him at all costs?” asked some who were oblivious to external affairs.

This question was promptly answered, but this time the answer came from Yan Benxing himself.

”He’s a cast-off disciple of the Tieshan Sect who wanted to return and resorted to deceit and trickery to send me to the Tieshan Sect.”

”He almost got me killed by the Tieshan Sect...”

Yan Benxing’s voice was filled with anger, and suddenly everyone understood.

At the same time, everyone thought that Soul Eater was indeed vile to use Miss Gongyang as a hostage and Yan Benxing as a bargaining chip... just to return to places that had once abandoned him.

His methods were cruel and desperate.

What the crowd didn’t know was that what Yan Benxing hated the most was being defeated by Soul Eater, resulting in Gongyang Ying’s rejection, while his Huanteng Mountain Villa was slaughtered mercilessly.

Anyway, Yan Benxing claimed that Soul Eater had used plots and schemes; it was crucial not to lose face, no matter what.

As the whole audience was sighing in amazement, Yan Benxing suddenly let out a sinister laugh.

”Turns out not only did I return, but I also turned misfortune into a blessing and reached the peak of the Daoist Martial Fifth Realm.”

He then coldly glanced at Sikong Jing, ”Soul Eater, I bet you never dreamt of this, right? I was locked up by the Tieshan Sect, but with my extraordinary talent, I uncovered the secret of the Cross Saber Technique at Tieshan Cliff and made a breakthrough.”

”Ha ha, the heavens have not treated me unfairly, allowing me to beat you with my own hands, to kill you!”

Having said that, he drew his saber with a clang, pointing it straight at Sikong Jing.

He was too smug, feeling like the protagonist of the world, thinking he was as good as dead but instead gaining an upgrade. He continued in a sinister tone, ”Soul Eater, why aren’t you being arrogant with me now?”

”Are you too scared to speak?”

”Ha ha, I should really thank you heartily, and to express my gratitude, I will send you to your grave.”

Yan Benxing’s voice grew more and more manic as his aura soared to the skies.

The surrounding guests were increasingly astonished by Yan Benxing’s aura, and at the same time, Elder Wu Zhenzhi of Cross Saber beamed with pride. When they brought Yan Benxing back, they had not expected that he would turn misfortune into fortune.

Now, Yan Benxing had become the Sect Leader’s most valued disciple, with limitless potential for the future!

However, while the two were feeling proud and Sikong Jing gave no response, Gongyang Ren suddenly spoke up, ”Soul Eater, although this is a fight to the death... I forbid you from killing Hero Yan, just give him a good beating.”

Upon hearing this, the entire audience, previously astounded by Yan Benxing’s strength, was stupefied. What did the Imperial Advisor mean by that?

Could it be that the old man thought a bandit leader could defeat Yan Benxing?

Gongyang Ying also paused, secretly amused. It seemed grandfather also greatly disliked the arrogant Yan Benxing. Compared with Soul Eater, for some unknown reason, Gongyang Ying also hoped from the bottom of her heart that Yan Benxing would lose.

Of course, with Soul Eater’s terrifying combat power, Yan Benxing was bound to lose.
