Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor

Chapter 109: Chapter 107: Wizard Clue, Apex Predator

Personally, Tony didn’t really approve of what Roy was doing.

But since Roy had already made his decision, he wouldn’t try to stop him.

Compared to some so-called family tradition, he cared more about whether Roy was happy.

For a while after, Tony briefly discussed the domain’s development and army training with Roy.

Roy knew why Tony wanted to discuss these matters with him.

But he had absolutely no interest in such things.

Despite his lack of interest, he patiently listened to Tony’s plan and expressed his approval.

After lunch, Roy left the castle and found Xiaobai frolicking in the forest near Ice Wolf Castle.

Upon seeing him, the enormous Xiaobai came bounding toward him like a clingy pet dog.

Without any hesitation, Roy pushed off with his legs, leaped onto Xiaobai’s back, and settled into the saddle.

Untying the reins from the saddle, Roy said to Xiaobai, ”To the Snow Fox Domain.”

Before Xiaobai could respond, he raised his right hand and pointed toward the Snow Fox Domain.

Xiaobai didn’t know where the Snow Fox Domain was.

However, that didn’t stop it from understanding Roy’s command.

The moment Roy lowered his right hand, Xiaobai took off on its powerful limbs, charging toward the Snow Fox Domain.

Xiaobai was much faster than a Warhorse.

But compared to Roy, its Speed was only average.

After crossing the lands of more than a dozen nobles over three or four hours, Snow Fox Castle finally appeared in Roy and Xiaobai’s line of sight.

Before they could enter Snow Fox Castle, Miria, dressed in red Hunter’s Clothing, arrived at the main gate. She stood outside like a wife awaiting her husband’s return, gazing at Roy on Xiaobai’s back.

Neither she nor the soldiers by the gate had ever seen a live Earth Dragon before.

Seeing Xiaobai—nearly twenty meters long, its body covered in black scales like Fine Steel, its mouth full of sharp teeth, and its limbs powerful—charging toward the castle, they all felt an intense pressure.

As they watched, Roy and Xiaobai quickly reached the main gate of Snow Fox Castle.

Once Xiaobai stopped, Roy tied the reins to the saddle, jumped off its back, and walked over to Miria.

Before Miria could speak, he crooked a finger at Xiaobai.

Seeing his gesture, the intelligent Xiaobai immediately lowered its proudly held head.

Roy patted its head and said to Miria, ”Xiaobai will be staying with you from now on. Go on and say hello.”

Miria nodded, raised her right hand, and, copying Roy, patted Xiaobai’s head. ”Hello, Xiaobai,” she said softly.

As soon as she finished speaking, Xiaobai let out a deep, short rumble in response to her greeting.

Miria didn’t understand Xiaobai’s sounds and looked at Roy with a puzzled expression.

”That sound from Xiaobai has different meanings in different situations. Right now, you can understand it as a response to your greeting.”

”When you’re giving it a command, that same sound means something like ’Okay,’ ’Understood,’ or ’Got it.’”

”If it’s eating, it means the food is delicious and that it likes it.”

”It uses the pitch and duration of its sounds to express different things. Once you’ve spent enough time with it, you’ll be able to understand its ’words’.”

Roy explained to Miria.

”Mhm!”

Miria immediately nodded.

Roy turned to Xiaobai and said with a serious expression, ”From now on, you will obey Miria’s commands just as you obey mine. Understand?”

Xiaobai once again let out a deep, short sound.

After giving Xiaobai its instructions, Roy said to Miria, ”Go bring Mao Mao out. Let it get acquainted with Xiaobai, too.”

”Okay!”

Miria replied quickly.

Then, she turned and entered the castle.

Although Mao Mao was no longer confined to the secret room, it would still only listen to Roy and Miria.

As for anyone else, they couldn’t even get close to Mao Mao, let alone discipline it.

Before long, Miria returned to the castle gate with Mao Mao, which was the size of a Warhorse.

When Mao Mao was still hundreds of meters away from the castle, Xiaobai caught its scent.

Likewise, Mao Mao smelled Xiaobai.

Although Earth Dragons and Three-headed Dogs were not natural enemies, they were both apex predators on this continent and were therefore competitors.

When Miria brought Mao Mao to the castle gate, Xiaobai, who had been as docile as a pet dog in front of Roy, immediately revealed the true bearing of an adult Earth Dragon.

ROAR!!!

Xiaobai opened its mouth, bristling with sharp teeth, fixed its eyes on Mao Mao, and let out an imperious roar.

Though much smaller than Xiaobai, the juvenile Mao Mao was not intimidated by the roar.

On the contrary, Xiaobai’s roar awakened its innate ferocity.

As Roy and Miria watched, Mao Mao opened its mouth and let out a howl of its own, refusing to show any weakness.

However, their howling came to an abrupt stop.

Roy materialized his Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff and gave each of them a whack on the head.

And just like that, they shut up.

Once Xiaobai and Mao Mao quieted down, their eight eyes—two large and six small—staring at one another, Roy dispelled his Fighting Qi: Celestial Dragon Staff. He wrapped an arm around Miria’s slender waist and started walking toward the castle’s main keep.

Soon, they reached the study on the second floor of the main keep.

After closing the door to the study, Roy produced the Beast Taming Skill Magic Scroll, handed it to Miria, and said slowly, ”I’ve learned the Beast Taming Skill.”

’You learned it?’

Miria looked at Roy in surprise.

Just as she was about to say something, Roy continued, ”I want to know how the Elvin Clan’s ancestor first obtained this Magic Scroll.”

If anyone other than Roy had asked this question, Miria would have absolutely refused to answer.

But now, she answered without any hesitation. ”According to the records our ancestor left behind, he bought the Beast Taming Skill Magic Scroll from a wandering merchant for over ten Gold Coins while traveling in the Sal Empire.”

The moment Miria finished speaking, Roy frowned.

This wasn’t the first time he had heard about wandering merchants from the Sal Empire.

A year ago, Count Rock Lion had purchased a diary fragment from one such wandering merchant from the Sal Empire, which was how he learned that a Wizard’s legacy was hidden within the Mutated Four-armed Demon Ape.

’Looks like I’ll have to make a trip to the Sal Empire!’

Roy added ”travel to the Sal Empire to find clues about Wizards” to his mental to-do list.

He didn’t know why both the Elvin Clan’s ancestor and Count Rock Lion had bought Wizard-related items from wandering merchants, but one thing was certain: there were far more clues about Wizards in the Sal Empire than in the Laine Kingdom.

Seeing Roy frown, Miria immediately asked, ”Have you had dealings with wandering merchants from the Sal Empire before?”

”No, I’ve only heard about them from others.”

Roy replied.
