Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Russell watched Carpenter excitedly, almost colliding with the airship door, and shook his head helplessly: ”Really... please forgive him, Carpenter, he is, uh, just too happy.”

Hilbert was uninterested, simply asking lightly, ”You seem to have something to say?”

Otherwise, Russell would have just apologized and gone to console Carpenter, instead of standing rooted at Hill’s feet.

”Teacher, this, the airship is a bit too beautiful, don’t you think?

The way to Sia Tower has quite a bit of wind and sand, such a delicate thing might get a little ruined?”

Hill was dazed for a few seconds, then looked at him in surprise: ”You’re talking about this black platter?”

Russell’s mouth twitched... the disdain in his teacher’s words nearly soared straight up to the Sun!

But he could only suppress the throbbing veins on his forehead, solemnly speaking: ”That elegant form, even in world-famous paintings, you only see a little bit of that by chance.

And this airship... almost every line screams perfection.”

Hill was so startled by such dreadful yet incredible praise that he nearly ’huh?’ out loud.

But he understood his student a bit... Russell was a very hardworking student with a well-planned life.

So even if he couldn’t meditate for long as an apprentice, he read quite a lot of books and learned quite a few so-called noble skills.

Painting was naturally among them... and the world-famous paintings he could see, although replicas, were not lacking.

Russell’s words were well understood... if he didn’t want to reveal his identity, it’d be best to use a file on this black platter.

Turn this airship from a finished product into a defective one.

Otherwise, it’s like directly telling others: Gilbert has been replaced.

Neither the Hainarson Family nor the Tower of Dark Enigma could nurture someone with Hill’s sense of aesthetics and turn it into reality.

When he thought about having to lower his living standards to such a level... Hill couldn’t help but puff up his cheeks a bit, his pushed out lips slightly tilting to one side.

Russell quickly lowered his head... and internally overturned all his past speculations about his teacher.

Just from that moment, he couldn’t believe this person was an adult.

So, which deity’s child is this?

No, his teacher is clearly a mage... so, Russell thought confusedly, humans from other worlds, do they have a longer lifespan?

Oh, and there’s also the possibility of not being human, right?

He vaguely remembered seeing some interesting mythical stories in those old books at the Tower of Dark Enigma: there would always be some eternally young beings appearing in them.

But those similar beings in the books, they seemed never to appear as good guys, and in the books he’s read, the best descriptions related to them seemed a bit over the top in terms of pranks.

And after those pranks ended many lives, they’d just say a ’didn’t expect it’, stepping away amidst the carnage.

In the fairy tales they’ve read, encountering these eternally young yet immensely powerful beings was never a good thing.

As for mages... no matter how powerful, if they live long enough, even with a youthful face, the marks of time will be etched in their eyes and demeanor.

Moreover, three hundred years is a threshold.

Just like Gilbert, if he could live to 300, he’d appear more mature, not as he does now, frozen with a face around thirty.

Even ordinary people wouldn’t mistake a mage when they see one.

But those beings in the stories aren’t like that... they’re the true forever-young ones.

Yet Russell completely didn’t feel his teacher was the same breed as those beings.

Actually both mages and nobles secretly speculated about such beings: naughty children from the Divine Kingdom.

About their world, the goddess truly being kind and great, they never doubted... it’s simply impossible.

Even if it was the case before, after suffering through so many harsh years, it wouldn’t be.

The world has become so filthy, can the incarnation of the world still be truly good?

No matter how beautifully they spoke their praises, deep inside they understood... only those too poor and with no time to think would not ponder.

But their praises to the goddess would just be empty babble.

So, those so-called fairy tales were always tacitly understood as rumor.

Everyone understood what they were saying.

So, in other worlds, there are true eternals like their teacher too... their family’s teacher obviously cannot be a flower that struggled out of the mud, but only the most splendid blooming one among flowers.

Russell suddenly felt a bit envious.

Though he wasn’t to the point of loathing his own world... after all, without this world, he wouldn’t exist, Russell wasn’t too foolish to miss that point... but envy was unavoidable.

Though his life wasn’t bad, he still yearned for a better one.

-----------------

Of course, Hill didn’t notice he was excessively exposed, he was just in a painful dilemma:

If he didn’t want to be exposed the moment he stepped outside, he had to remodel this airship.

But Hill absolutely didn’t believe he could last against Draculus without being exposed... so, this airship, would very likely become a reason for endless ridicule.

The most important thing is, Draculus would definitely consult Fran about his thoughts on it.

Even though everyone knew this was just Hill’s makeshift solution... but, Draculus doesn’t have to be human, and he never wanted to be.

Hill silently settled on top of the flying saucer, stepping on it and sinking into contemplation: So, if he wanted not to become a laughingstock to Draculus, he must make efforts to grasp something against that guy?

After all, compared to those harmless little jokes, he’d surely choose serious matters.

Tsk~

Originally not wanting to pay too much attention to what Draculus was up to, Hill made up his mind... at the very least, he had to figure out how Draculus came to this world, and particularly who brought him in.

Though that one would indeed care about Teraxil’s survival, he was definitely not one to take risks voluntarily... the danger of this world was clear to anyone outside the universe.

Hill would never believe Draculus would choose to jump in on his own.

He must have been set up, or even randomly jumped in while being pursued.

Hill still hadn’t figured out what happened with that visitor from the Stellar Realm that the Tower of Dark Enigma once offered to the goddess!

Sia Tower might have an answer... especially since Hill always felt that because the Tower of Dark Enigma offered that realms visitor, it suddenly seemed to be brushed by the skirt of the Goddess of Misfortune, becoming somewhat unnatural.

If the Tower of Dark Enigma was truly rejected by some unknown existence because of this... then they shouldn’t even be able to use a spell like summoning meteors.

Yet they could, but the number of summoned meteors was insufficient.

Unless some Earth Elemental God was squatting outside the universe, specifically blocking them halfway, otherwise, that’s seriously hard to accomplish.

However, from what Hill knew about elemental creatures, they would rather use their time and energy to play ball games than waste it on beings that didn’t matter to them.

Including elemental creatures of the Evil Faction.

So, this matter, actually, Hill had always been a bit curious... just upon discovering about Draculus, he quietly suppressed this curiosity.

Draculus’s mind was denser and finer than Rose’s Spider Magic Net... hmm, and dirtier... a fellow that, only not looking or thinking about, avoided being noticed by him.

Yet at this moment, Hill made up his mind: if he must inevitably lose a bit of face before that old guy, then he had to also grasp Draculus’s weaknesses.

Only then can he make that mouth that doesn’t understand what it means to be human shut up obediently!

Hill angrily clenched his fist, pulling out a large chisel made of fine iron... he didn’t expect that, one day, he would actually choose to scribble on his own work!

The only consolation was: fortunately, this thing was round.

Then, Draculus himself was also an Alchemist Master.

The aesthetic shock Hill suffered, that old fellow who lived for thousands of years, would only feel even more uncomfortable.

Even if he went to other worlds before, it was the same: devils had slightly skewed aesthetics, but they still had aesthetics.

Unlike this bizarre world, the saucer wasn’t even as good as something a dwarven miner casually hammered out!

Sigh!
