Surviving The Fourth Calamity

This world is a gigantic cage, and these humans are like birds within it.

Most humans are ignorant and unaware, like sparrows scattered everywhere, unable to see the world above the white clouds, thus they only peck at grains with their heads down.

Though ignorant and unaware, even sparrows have their own joys.

But mages like them, longing for freedom like old eagles, no matter how high they fly or how strong they are, cannot break through the sturdy cage... The stronger a person is, the more painfully they live.

Those who can’t hold on end up like the Defense Tower, exposing their hostility and then going up in flames together.

Those who can hold on, even if they survive, are left in a state of devastation.

The best outcome for a bird in a cage is to be a pet for life... living the life the master wants you to live.

The worst, naturally, is to become a meal for others, or mud beneath their feet.

What flying eagle doesn’t long to break the cage and soar freely?

Therefore, any Archmage who recognizes reality would rarely genuinely want to kneel at the foot of Sia Tower... Ruth and the others never understood why some peers would even give up the essence of being a mage.

Mages can commit all sorts of evils, destroy the heavens and earth, but that’s because they themselves want to, not because they completely submit to another’s will, doing as others wish... Even being a lackey is for one’s own benefit, not for the master’s favor.

The appearance of the Soul Elixir solved part of their doubt.

The potion may have been developed later using native materials, but... surely there was something existing with similar effects.

It’s just too precious to be used on lower-level mages, but those native archmages particularly firm in standing by Sia Tower must have suffered.

Kamente Tower used to be such a character.

However, he suddenly broke free... Ruth and Nicholson, of course, wouldn’t just believe whatever Kamente Tower said.

After so many years, although none of these Magic Towers have found a way out, they’ve quite comprehended the way in... If they want to determine whether someone is genuinely sincere, whether their Mental Sea has been replaced by something else, they have their methods.

Ruth isn’t even surprised that Tower of Dark Enigma was targeted by Sia Tower... although the native archmages didn’t show it clearly, some things can’t be hidden.

For example, every larger Magic Tower has a guy like Kamente Tower, but none of them have become the highest authority in their Magic Tower... to put it bluntly, the control of the Great Magic Circle has never been handed over.

Sia Tower would surely be looking for where the problem lies: and there are only a few genuine soul-type Magic Towers, the most famous being their Tower of Dark Enigma and the Tower of Necromancy.

The Tower of Necromancy is actually the most severely eroded one, but their leader is quite ruthless... one wrong move and turning into self-moving bones makes even those with changed souls unwilling to accept it.

They just tend to lean towards the other side, not turn into idiots.

Even if Sia Tower has higher control over them, they won’t be sent to die for nothing.

No matter how powerful the brainwashing, at the moment of life and death, some will suddenly wake up.

Honestly, in these past hundreds of years, the Tower of Necromancy blocked many disasters for their Tower of Dark Enigma... especially when they were caught by Kamente Tower, offering the so-called Stellar Realm visitor, Sia Tower’s main focus was on the Tower of Necromancy.

But Ruth and the others are also in pain, even though they set a cautionary example for Magic Towers worldwide: they had been on guard against Kamente Tower, yet there were still problems.

Although they were ready to give up the Third Tower, no one expected that he could bypass the Enigma Array and see the presence within the Meteor Summoning directly.

No, it should be said, he was informed of that presence.

The archmages are confident in their methods, they haven’t kept secrets under wraps before for no reason.

So, the Tower of Dark Enigma was caught off guard, they didn’t expect that the net outside the world would have such strong surveillance capabilities.

And from that moment on, these archmages could finally determine one thing: the things that fell may not be under the opponent’s control, but the opponent can surely see some surface-level existences.

So, whatever is inside the meteorite can still be hidden... if, like the Tower of Dark Enigma, you hang onto the stone as it falls, you’d better be quiet.

But, to be honest, because of the massive destructive power brought by the meteorites’ flying speed in the Stellar Realm, for so many years, no one has seen anything alive attached to a falling meteorite!

The Tower of Dark Enigma was really screwed over.

Therefore, even if Ruth is dissatisfied, he couldn’t argue with Kamente Tower when he suddenly became an ally... after all, without him, Sia Tower would have known about this news anyway.

But also, because of his presence here, their Meteor Summoning was noticed.

In the mages’ world, there is never reliance on speculation, Ruth and the others have conducted experiments themselves.

What Magic Tower doesn’t have a hidden ace?

Maybe they won’t all gather together, but they will basically find a sufficiently secretive place, spending heavily to set up a one-time protective array to conduct experiments in turns.

Every mage who went for this experiment was prepared for the worst... If Sia Tower’s control is really that strong, then if they summon a meteorite, it will inevitably fall into the opponent’s hands.

At this time, they can only fight independently, and to avoid being probed into the depths of their souls for secrets, they would have to self-destruct directly, leaving no soul behind.

However, for the mages of this world, dying completely is not necessarily a bad thing, after all, they wouldn’t dare enter the Goddess’s Divine Kingdom.

Ruth doesn’t know how many times other Magic Towers have fussed over it, but he estimates it’s not less than the times of their Tower of Dark Enigma... After all, it’s obvious that they’re being watched, their movements are much smaller.

The experimental results were mixed.

The bad is naturally that Sia Tower can indeed discover someone using Meteor Summoning.

However, there’s also a good side, they can only determine the general area, unable to see the exact location.

All those who conducted this experiment escaped: as long as one wasn’t greedy and left within five minutes, they wouldn’t be caught by the agents sent out by Sia Tower.

This is a considerable difference from the discovery made by the Tower of Dark Enigma.

So, at that time, everyone really... put in a lot of effort to come to the final conclusion: the main purpose of Sia Tower sending these archmages into their Magic Tower was not to create chaos or report small secrets, but to set a fixed point.

As long as there’s a person with this fixed point, the net outside the world can quickly observe what’s happening in the sky above him.

Fortunately, the protective array within the Magic Tower has some effect.

So, the key to this matter is that Sia Tower is bound to send someone here, not Kamente Tower, then someone else.

This trouble of theirs was destined the moment that meteor shower fell.

However, this point is something Ruth can understand, after all, with or without Kamente Tower, his life would remain more or less the same... What he lost was something destined to be lost.

But Nicholson is different.

Nicholson is more thoughtful... although he did give up many students and family members, in fact, the reason he created so much was to hide those he truly cared about.

And the reason he does this is naturally because of those messes made by Kamente Tower, losing the people he wanted to protect.

That is why Nana was able to enter Rolando smoothly, Nicholson wasn’t without intervention.

He truly hates Kamente Tower.
