Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”Ah, the one you mentioned was particularly beautiful last time?” Scott Rommel pondered, ”It seems my thoughts were correct; Glaysia has indeed arrived.”

”What should I do?” Kamente Tower asked earnestly.

”Fengo really hasn’t noticed anything unusual about you?” Rommel softly replied.

”No, he’s continuously trying to use me to provoke that male assistant’s fury.” Kamente Tower seemed a bit puzzled, ”But that one completely ignores me. What’s he trying to do?”

”Glaysia is the Succubus Queen.” Rommel chuckled.

Kamente Tower pointed at his own nose, slightly surprised: ”What’s that got to do with me?”

”You don’t really think that the eyes of Hell Devils see the same things as human eyes, do you?” Rommel laughed, ”Your nose is very large; that’s the key issue.”

Kamente Tower didn’t quite understand.

”It’s a little joke from another world; you don’t need to get it.” Rommel leaned back in his chair, speaking slowly, ”Generally speaking, being Glaysia’s male pet and still being thrown out of the royal palace to carry out tasks, it usually means... to a certain extent, one falls short of satisfying her desires.

In other words, useless in bed, but still capable otherwise.”

”So, Typhon was mocking him, not suggesting Glaysia would fancy you.”

Kamente Tower suddenly understood and asked half-heartedly, a bit bewildered: ”I’m not quite sure what purpose letting Prutt get this potion into the Tower of Dark Enigma serves?

Though it did cause some chaos in the Tower of Dark Enigma, which mage cares about fellow mages falling for deception and losing themselves?

As long as one knows to be wary, it’s enough.

I see Ruth over there...”

”Ruth’s biggest flaw is coddling his students.” Rommel interrupted coldly, ”If Aislin chooses to watch indifferently, the drama will be much more entertaining.

Although my objective can be considered accomplished, but...

Forget it, Aislin’s issue isn’t the major one.

What’s going on with Gilbert?

You, can Ruth really ensure he hasn’t replaced anyone?”

”The Tower of Dark Enigma has been closely watched by the Sia Tower precisely because of its sensitivity to souls.

This Magic Tower might be the last bit of connection between this world and the Styx.

As long as the Styx exists, misjudgments on souls shouldn’t happen... unless the Styx also makes mistakes.

Such an entity, even if it comes in, can’t play some impersonation game, not even if the Lord of Hell himself comes, right?

Moreover, could any visitors from the Stellar Realm really evade the Heavenly Net laid by the Sia Tower?

These days, it’s not like the past...” Kamente Tower said with a hint of despair, ”Back then, because of me, the visitor from the Stellar Realm who was sent out made the Sia Tower’s blockade of the world much stronger.

Even an ant probably couldn’t sneak in!”

He seemed despondent: ”If only, you had come a bit earlier, it would’ve been better.”

”In that case, I wouldn’t have been looking for you.” Rommel cruelly replied, ”Having your soul controlled hundreds of years ago, you would just be placed somewhere else.

Heh~

Perhaps even in the Defense Tower!”

”That’s still better,” Kamente Tower quickly calmed down, ”The Defense Tower is truly ruthless, not sparing a single traitor, ensuring that everyone engraves the world’s truth into their souls.

The Devil Mages can’t solve this; as long as they approach the Eighth Ring Mage enveloped by this world’s laws, the truth will naturally be exposed.”

Heh~

The Soul Defense Array can be modified in such ways, truly...

Ultimately, whether they willingly betray the Defense Tower or not, they all end up having their souls torn apart and thrown into Hell’s Soul Pool.

Tsk, there’s always hope as long as one is alive.

Alright, you don’t need to look at me like that. I’m just lamenting life’s hardships, not really being foolish.”

Rommel shook his head and suddenly sighed: ”Eh~ Maybe that array was modified by Hainarson.

Gilbert really has impressive talents in array formation, huh~

It’s a pity back then he could only be taken under by the Tower Master, you’re not suited... truly competing with Ruth, he could destroy you.

The Defense Tower, heh~”

Kamente Tower actually knew a bit about matters pertaining to the Defense Tower... he could even guess that the Stellar Realm visitor discovered by the Defense Tower, who was unwilling to be handed over to the Sia Tower, probably came following his own superior.

The Sia Tower kept saying that the Defense Tower was attempting to destroy the entire world... actually, it wasn’t wrong.

Though Kamente Tower didn’t have detailed information, it was clear that the unknown visitor disclosed too many secrets... secrets potentially sparking a world war.

However, among the top-level Archmages, how many are unaware that their world is perilously close to the edge?

But everyone knows they can’t win.

Moreover, the Sia Tower’s puppet master has chosen for this world to become mage-centric, knowing that even when mages, self-centered creatures, understand that failing to unite would lead to losing their home, their first instinct is to risk others’ lives, not their own!

And each prepares a fallback plan to survive the collapse of the world.

People with fallback plans have diminished destructive power... logically, such mages ought to think about fostering a few altruistic people in the world.

But when such people do appear, the first to fall—could it be the Sia Tower, or just the mage community, who can say?

At that time, the Defense Tower knew that whether they handed over or not, it meant death, so they simply chose to lay the groundwork for other magic towers with their own preparations.

Trying to stand against the Sia Tower, what kind of price must be paid? This was precisely what all these magic towers wanted to know most.

Thus, he was somewhat surprised: ”You, seem to like Gilbert quite a lot?”

”Hmm... I like the wise ones, especially those with clear logic and defined boundaries.” Rommel replied noncommittally.

”What should I do about Prutt?” Kamente Tower had always been unable to comprehend Rommel’s true intentions, just like he still didn’t even know the exact name of his savior after all these years.

Yet, for the life-saving grace of having his soul rescued from the hands of Devils... The more he knew who stood behind the Sia Tower and controlled him, the more Kamente Tower’s awe for Rommel surpassed everything.

He completely didn’t seek to unveil what his benefactor didn’t wish to disclose.

Following Rommel’s orders was enough.

After all these years, he managed to withstand the manipulations of those two cunning individuals in the Tower of Dark Enigma... having neither defied Sia Tower’s orders nor crossed Ruth and Nicholson’s lines, all thanks to Rommel’s wisdom.

Especially during this century of the Tower of Dark Enigma losing its independence due to his actions, Kamente Tower genuinely felt that he hadn’t been killed by Ruth or Nicholson, all thanks to Rommel orchestrating his two acts of foolishness, making those two think they could step on him to execute certain conspiracies.

Tsk, the Sia Tower’s interests were compromised, secrets exposed, what does that have to do with Kamente Tower?

His dilemma was simply how to feign stupidity reasonably.

Thinking about this, Kamente Tower couldn’t help but glance at Rommel... although he didn’t wish to know Rommel’s identity, he was truly curious about how long Rommel must have lived to execute foolishness so seamlessly?

When Rommel looked back at him, Kamente Tower couldn’t help but avert his gaze, cautiously asking: ”Is Prutt actually that foolish?

I recall that when he was promoted, he only sacrificed a bit of stamina and spirit, right?

He’s already a Seventh Circle Mage.

Why would he genuinely believe... anyone in this world would offer benefits far exceeding what he contributed?”

”The scent of the world’s laws is growing increasingly sinister.” Rommel tilted his head, letting out a reluctant sigh, ”The talents of Mage Apprentices are deteriorating; it’s not solely a problem faced by the Tower of Dark Enigma.

The physical condition of mortals, despite mages’ efforts, is growing increasingly sinister... not the kind of darkness found in the Tower of Necromancy.

It’s a malevolent insidiousness.

The change in physical condition makes it difficult for children to genuinely become mages.

If the world continues down this path, humans might evolve completely from soul to flesh into half-demons.

Asmodius’s objective is precisely this.

Only humans transformed into half-demon bodies are the only humans he can confidently control.

Heh~

The Lord of Hell never trusts souls that can’t be controlled.”
