Surviving The Fourth Calamity

So, Hill had no choice but to strive to find similar materials in Master Gilbert’s materials library, and after slightly clearing some impurities, to make a flying disk with slightly better quality.

Even if it’s ugly, he accepted it, at worst making it matte black, and making the cover slightly flatter... At least make it not look like a pot-lid for braised pork.

But, just because it’s dark wouldn’t mean he has to stuff himself into an iron box... At the very least, it should be Fine Steel.

Fortunately, this world isn’t led to the point that even Spatial Magic can’t be used, and refined steel... this thing is available with Ruth, and shouldn’t be considered particularly rare... it’s barely an acceptable material.

With seven rings, Gilbert can somehow expand a small room of 40 square meters from a large disk with about 10 square meters space.

Thankfully, it’s a circular space.

Hill stared at his large plate... Even if Ruth didn’t bring many people, a part of them would certainly come with family, outskirts mages, and it would take at least a month to reach Sia Tower.

Though he could only squat inside a 15-square-meter suite, Hill could endure it.

Hill left a 12-square-meter guest room, reserving two 8-square-meter small rooms for each of the students, along with a small washroom, which was decent.

Anyway, those two kids would likely prefer staying in the living room, and there’s not much need for Hill to show up.

After pondering for a while, Hill added some metal shelves in those small rooms to fix the clutter: the shelves were directly connected to the flying disk, then used some fine chains and crossed slender metal as fixing devices.

This was the only way he could think of, ensuring the room looked tidier without using any magic.

After all, he also needed to set up some dedicated garbage-cleaning arrays and freshwater usage arrays for the washroom.

Bringing out these essentially depleted the entire capacity of the energy absorption array... Primarily the energy’s most important function was for flying.

Speaking of which, he had to thank the journey to Aesces, as it taught Hill how to use those tiny scraps of energy.

Hill even recalled many past memories, nearly forgotten in the wind... such as how to reasonably use architectural layouts to make small spaces appear larger visually.

Especially in circular spaces... how to set up reasonable embedded cabinets in these winding places, how to utilize headboards and footboards, designing suitable storage spaces, and how to use the mirror mode of metal reflection to visually give a sense of spaciousness.

Hmm...

Luckily, mages only let memories sediment in the Mental Sea, rather than actually forgetting them.

After stumbling upon those long-thought unusable expanding techniques, Hill flexibly arranged that compact flying disk.

Russell and Carpenter stepped out of their rooms once more, seeing the now vacant hall and the airship, which then looked particularly imposing.

This was the most beautiful flying craft they had ever seen!

Although the color was pure black, for some reason, every curve looked very graceful.

Carpenter raised her head and sighed in admiration... perhaps it was because Gilbert came from the nobles and had learned painting in childhood.

She felt she should not give up these artistic hobbies.

Just like how Master Gilbert had once commented on her lack of understanding of the surrounding environment, causing the illusory realms she created to appear unreal... If only she could be like her teacher, even crafting creations with such refined curves, how could anyone think even a blade of grass was a sham!

”Brother Russell, truly, nothing learned is in vain!” She tugged at her brother’s sleeve, ”Our art lessons are quite useful, right?”

Russell seriously looked at his sister... He originally thought Carpenter had seen the real face of their teacher.

But Carpenter hardly spoke nonsense to him and rarely used such pure and innocent eyes to signal something.

Hmm... So, was Carpenter’s sensory nerves numbed by the overwhelming study life?

If their learned art courses had such good effects, Carpenter wouldn’t make even a blade of grass look menacing when transformed.

Russell couldn’t even explain this to her.

Indeed, all she could see was the small grass in the garden and in the Side Tower, all the other plants and even sculptures she saw mainly in the book sketches, making her illusory creations somewhat immature... Hence their teacher always proposed Carpenter look and think more.

However, just like learning spells needed the combination of talents and skills, so did painting.

At most, in painting, having lower talents still meant being able to paint resemblance.

Yet the gap between resembling and vivid life, Carpenter couldn’t see?

Ha~ Speaking of their Hainarson family’s artistic flair, here at Tower of Dark Enigma, it’s just a fleeting discussion, since everyone’s quite practical.

To find someone in the Hainarson who can paint even a curve of this flying craft accurately... it’s difficult... much less make it a strange object perfectly.

Russell nudged Carpenter: ”Let’s go in and take a look~ Since the teacher opened the door of the airship here, naturally we can look around freely.

Right? Teacher.”

Carpenter turned around in surprise and saw Gilbert gently floating in.

”Go on... The two small rooms to the right of the living room are for you two, pick one and tidy up.” Hilbert casually spoke, ”I have already collected my belongings in the Side Tower, including several puppets that can be carried.

The rest are linked to the Main Magic Circle of Tower of Dark Enigma and can only stay here.”

Russell and Carpenter fully understood the meaning behind their teacher’s words: no need to worry about their companion Felis living poorly later.

Hilbert glanced at Carpenter and tossed her a silver storage ring embedded with turquoise: ”Here are our living resources, you will arrange them from now on.

With this storage ring, you can command those puppets, do what you see fit!

This ring can only be used by you, don’t lose it.”

Carpenter’s eyes lit up instantly.

Giving her such a task, even if it seemed like simple daily management, represented a form of acceptance.

Carpenter certainly wouldn’t think her status had soared significantly due to her advancement to mage... Currently, she simply was stronger than an outskirts mage.

Although Gilbert wouldn’t skimp on teaching her in terms of knowledge, if Master Gilbert hadn’t arranged anything for her, it meant she could only access the general resources provided to an Inner Ring Mage by the Magic Tower.

And how far this resource could support her future was quite uncertain.

Certainly, Russell would be willing to help her and even share many resources with her.

However, Carpenter, not knowing if she would change, now still somewhat doesn’t want to rely entirely on her brother’s care.

Though she made numerous wrong choices before, there was one thing Carpenter never thought she mistook: the one she trusts and relies on the most has always been herself.

Nonetheless, no matter her internal struggles, during the time Gilbert walked out of the Meditation Chamber, she could only wait in agony: with so many disturbances out there, Master Gilbert wouldn’t focus on an ordinary student like her.

Luckily, Master Gilbert, no matter how many changes occurred, still had that gentle heart.

Surprisingly, he truly thought, before entering Sia Tower, to give Carpenter a work for peace of mind.

Now arranging the airship daily... in the future naturally managing the daily affairs of the Magic Tower controlled by Gilbert.

Meaning if Gilbert takes students in the future, the legitimate line falls under Russell, normal student factions would be managed by Carpenter.

Even for a time, if Gilbert doesn’t take new students... normally, with Russell yet to have sufficient strength, indeed he wouldn’t enroll.

Yet having or not, it completely isn’t the same thing.

At least now Carpenter, after entering Sia Tower, had clearly defined her position.

Even without subordinates, she was a manager, not an ordinary mage subject to command.

Carpenter contained her excitement, answering with her firmest voice: ”Yes, teacher!

I will certainly complete it excellently!”

Then she unknowingly stepped towards the airship, feeling like walking on clouds... Though she believed she showed composure.
