Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Felis was genuinely surprised this time: ”Prutt? What can he do?”

”You realize you’re talking about a Seventh Circle Mage, right?” Russell asked with interest. ”You never used to disdain authority like this.”

”Authority my ass!” Felis said firmly, ”He’s just a fool!

I can’t see how he could get any benefits from this!

Kamente Tower has a million reasons not to get dragged down by him and could just kick him out... huh?

Don’t tell me, you suspect this has nothing to do with the Tower Master?”

”When you had trouble... in the Tower of Dark Enigma, even the biggest fool wouldn’t believe Rolando’s wife would want to hurt you,” Russell shook his head. ”This was done so crudely, and Prutt’s people showed up too brazenly.

Of course, back then I thought, maybe Kamente Tower had some other purpose... after all, someone like Prutt, if you lose him, you lose him.

Nicholson’s side already suffered quite a loss, and on Master Rute’s side, they usually wouldn’t extend their hand down to the lower levels, and someone like Prutt isn’t worth treasuring in any faction.

I don’t know much about those matters in the Tower of Dark Enigma, but I do understand one thing... Even if those two Tower Masters have their own thoughts, if Kamente Tower were a place where schemes were so easily seen through, they would never have formed the current factional struggles.

Even with backing, it wouldn’t work.

No matter how solid the support is, it can’t withstand someone seeking their own demise.”

Felis asked puzzled: ”So?”

”But although Prutt is a bit dense, he’s not so stupid as to not understand his own situation.” Russell tapped on the big ice block in front of him again. ”At this time, with his mind, the first reaction would definitely be to find the person instructing him for help!

Of course, Rolando surely will be dealt with, since he truly instructed you to come to us... most importantly, as long as you haven’t shown up, and the Hainarson hasn’t removed you from the roster, they can still ask him for you.

Ha~ Even if he knows we have you hidden, what’s he going to do?

Archmage Ruth has returned, and even Aislin wouldn’t dare to come to our Magic Tower now.

You must realize, right?

What truly threatens Prutt, is Aislin.

Since she couldn’t pull rank on our teacher, she naturally needs to find a scapegoat, Rolando isn’t fit, recent activities have been a bit unusual.

Yet he hasn’t gone to Kamente Tower’s Magic Tower for help, and even when he returned, nothing happened, now even after there’s a stir around Archmage Ruth, still nothing.

And then, the most amazing thing is, that archmage isn’t showing any signs, as if this thing never happened.”

He suddenly tilted his head, tapping out a rhythm on the big ice block... Because Felis was always melting and freezing, the internal structure of the ice wasn’t very balanced and stable, tapping it was like a muffled stone drum... then under Felis’s death stare, he awkwardly withdrew his hand.

With an awkward ’hehe’ laugh and speaking quickly, Russell tried to divert Felis’s attention: ”We all know the Tower of Dark Enigma’s breath can’t be caught.

Sia Tower has caused us so much trouble here, yet not a single archmage has stepped up to stop it, that’s the main reason.

But Archmages still need manpower.

Now this chaos is them quietly selecting, and those mages who understand have been expressing their presence before the one they want to choose.

But most people can’t understand, utterly clueless about this world, they naturally choose to abandon following the Tower of Dark Enigma, wanting to wait and see at Sia Tower... maybe they’ll be appreciated by someone with a discerning eye, even if they can’t rise instantly, at least their treatment won’t be worse than Rolando’s kind, right?

So, before then, they must improve their strength or gain enough resources... isn’t it because of these thoughts that the Hainarson Clan is causing trouble?

Only our teacher is well prepared, and although Archmage Ruth has his own considerations, on the surface, it’s all friendly.

Forget it, let’s not talk about it for now... anyway, you understand in your heart, this current chaos is actually something tacitly allowed from inside out, top to bottom.

Everyone is just looking for their own position.

Meaning... in this situation, no archmage, especially a Tower Master, would easily abandon someone working for them!

Even if they were a fool, it’s impossible.

Do you understand?

The fool isn’t important, the crowd watching the fool is what’s indispensable.”

Felis silently widened his eyes: ”Huh? Are you saying I suffered in vain?”

If it weren’t for Kamente Tower behind, who the heck would fear Rolando!

The Hainarson Clan can even dismiss that thing!

Prutt... as foolish as Prutt might be, he wouldn’t dare support Rolando in front of everyone and directly storm the Hainarson Clan!

Though the High-level Mages on Master Rute’s side don’t care much about meddling, they are actually very willing to display their power... they seem quiet because nobody dares provoke them to act.

Anyway, the world has always been like this, the loudest barking dog isn’t always the one that bites the most.

But at that time, Rolando clearly showed his reliance... and Prutt indeed returned from Kamente Tower.

Already unstable, the Hainarson Clan would never provoke a bothersome archmage over an illegitimate child like him, even if just possible, naturally, they sent him out promptly.

But if only they knew it was just Prutt behind, then... given Ulrich’s character, he’d find a way to hold on for a few more days, or directly seek out the Ruth Camp Mage staying in Dark Enigma Town.

A Seventh Circle Mage indeed holds a high status, strong power, but individually speaking, Prutt doesn’t have the capital to threaten the survival of the entire Hainarson Clan.

He’d only create some trouble for the clan, with the unity the Hainarson Clan has generally displayed, even if unwilling, they’d try to hold on... only talk about it if they can’t hold on any longer.

So, Felis suddenly raised an eyebrow at the guy still digging the ice block outside himself... if it were Russell... forget it, thinking about these things is pointless.

Fate loves to toy with, is always the miserable, from the day of birth, destined to be entangled in sins.

”There’s no helping it.” Russell shook his head with lowered eyes, ”Even Aislin believed this matter was Kamente Tower’s orders.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have done things so poorly.

After all, she didn’t even recognize who the real enemy was... and after being exposed, people would mock her.

In Kamente Tower’s Magic Tower, wasn’t there always a student he trusts most, a Seventh Circle Mage?

That side must have been watching with delight during this time.

However, letting Aislin lose such great face, Prutt and Rolando... especially Rolando, probably will not meet a good end.”

”Sia Tower that side...” Felis was naturally not interested in what Rolando would suffer, as that trace of kinship had completely severed after Rolando tacitly agreed to Prutt’s side’s attack on him... actually, even before that, it could be said there was absolutely none, just in outsiders’ eyes, Rolando still treated him fairly.

”They just want to stir up chaos in the Tower of Dark Enigma, once the goal is reached they wouldn’t pay attention anymore, right?” Russell blinked, ”Would they actually care whether traitors from other people’s factions could survive to reach their own turf?

Anyway, rewards must have been given in advance a lot, whether they can grab the final portion is up to whether these people have the fate to do so!”

Then he looked at Felis seriously and asked: ”How long can you maintain a clear consciousness each day?”

”Hmm?” Felis was a bit confused, ”It’s been much better these days, the waves in the mental sea have notably started to recede, only needing to reinforce a bit daily.

I’ve started learning other shaping spells.

Since awakening my frozen talent, it seems like I can achieve mastery through a stream!”

Except for desperately, apprentices cannot engage in prolonged meditation, as it easily leads to spiritual power exhaustion.

Russell seriously looked at him for a couple of seconds: ”You should know, even if you could become an official mage, you wouldn’t be able to enter the Tower of Dark Enigma.

Moreover, before Prutt’s duo completely fail, you also can only hide your existence.

After all, you belong to their faction, even if our teacher comes out, it’s impossible...”

”I know.”

”The Hainarson Clan hasn’t erased your name from the family roster.”

”What do you mean?” Felis suddenly realized, ”The family doesn’t plan to follow the herd?”

”Hmm.”
