Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Gilbert, clad in a black robe, walked slowly into the conference room.

The Tower of Dark Enigma is essentially formed by clusters of various side towers surrounding three main towers arranged in a triangular distribution, along with some small settlement areas creating a large region.

Ruth, of course, occupied one of the main towers, his 9-story tall Magic Tower, which had a rather nice name: Night’s Mist.

Nicholson resided in the Hazy Moon.

The name of the tower at Kamente Tower is also quite interesting, called Mystery of Darkness.

Indeed, the tower at Kamente Tower, in the eyes of many, is considered the most powerful of the three towers.

But Hill, after careful observation, could be sure that Night’s Mist is actually the real origin for the name of the Tower of Dark Enigma.

Whether Kamente Tower is aware of this Hill couldn’t determine, after all, the means in this world used to confuse the hearts and eyes of people were still hard to hide from Hill’s eyes.

Therefore, he could always bypass those things on the surface and see the most real flow of mana.

But without Hill’s naturally gifted eyes, one would need an intimate familiarity with the Magic Arrays, seeing a single line one could trace back to the final source.

This level of an Alchemist requires a lot of resources and even more time... now in this world, it’s estimated no one can achieve this.

Unless a powerful Array Master secretly entered.

But... what kind of Array Master would, after seeing the terrifying blockade outside the world, still plunge in here?

Is there anyone more favored by Fate than Hill, getting directly on the express delivery of the East Wind?

After all, everyone else is basically on a real delivery vehicle, not instant rockets.

Honestly, except for someone like Hill whose breath is integrated with Teraxil, fate and his luck would appear in a world impacting Teraxil, otherwise, others... Even if it’s an archmage born of Teraxil, being sent directly here by fate would really be unknown how much they’ve sinned.

The Power of Destiny tossing around a Mage who controls the Power of Laws, that’s... how many debts must one owe to be burdened with such a big task!

Just like if Toril’s Weave really had problems, and if All Gods weren’t around, the first to suffer would surely be those Arcane Electors.

Hmm, then their aura must closely resemble a devil’s to escape Asmodier’s sense.

Tsk tsk~

Ah... the more he thought, the more a name seemed ready to leap from his lips.

Hill pursed his lips, he actually had been thinking of someone during this time, and really suspected it was him.

After all, Fran seemed to have said once, that guy seemed to have collided with a devil after coming out... Fran heard some related news while traveling.

If he were entangled and fighting with a devil while falling into this world, then, he would truly be hard to discover.

If he went to Hell, it’s estimated the devil wouldn’t be able to identify what race this fellow was in a rush.

Draculus.

If Hill initially felt his suspicion was somewhat baseless, recently, he really began to suspect more, only unwilling to admit it himself.

Where did this mucky entanglement come from, to actually encounter him here!

But during this period, as he gradually expanded his control range underground... and even approached the main tower area, Hill noticed something amiss with the Mystery of Darkness.

Clearly the true main tower is Ruth’s Night’s Mist, the other two were echoing his existence: that if the Tower of Dark Enigma faced an irresistible attack, the Great Magic Formation would sacrifice the other two towers’ defenses, concentrating the last bit of energy on Night’s Mist Tower.

Moreover, Hill deduced that the several major energy points could at the very least be mutually destructive with the enemy, the control nodes all resided in Night’s Mist.

But, the Mystery of Darkness during this period is almost living up to its name, full of mysteries.

Although the outer side of the tower seemed unchanged from the past, from the underground looking upward, Hill really felt dizzy with the runes.

Clearly when Hill just entered, this tower hadn’t given him such a dangerous impression... back then in Hill’s judgment, this tower’s threat level couldn’t compare to Ruth’s Night’s Mist.

But once the Standard Runes became visible, the tower grew increasingly dangerous.

Until during this period when most individuals turned their attention due to the Prutt incident, it reached a level of danger even Hill could feel.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have taken risks beneath the ground of the three prime towers.

Naturally, normally speaking, even if Asmodier himself stood far away, he couldn’t easily discover Hill merged with the earth.

Hill, upon seeing this Magic Tower full of powerful arrays, completely gave up on some ethereal hopes.

If in the past, Hill thought of archmages from other worlds... now, too many factors point to the same person; there’s no need to deceive himself any further.

So, he kept honestly playing the part of Gilbert.

At least until they face each other, Hill didn’t want to be sought out by the other party.

He absolutely wouldn’t doubt the depth of the other’s suspicion... Gilbert himself was likely on the observation list already.

This was why Hill, disliking Aislin’s methods, still adhered to his role settings.

No matter how annoying Aislin might be, Draculus was even worse.

Just enduring a while longer... eventually being able to crush that guy regardless.

But Draculus, Hill was indeed a bit, hmm, reluctant to confront.

Hill knew his own weaknesses well, and he believed Draculus did too... as long as it was for Teraxil, if Draculus gave a strong enough reason, without violating Hill’s principles, however unwilling, Hill would proceed as the path he started.

So for Hill, the best choice was fundamentally not giving that Mage Guild Leader a starting chance.

-----------------

With a heavy heart, Hill finally arrived at the magic tower’s top floor, entering the hall... where the Floating Stairway in Archmage Ruth’s Magic Tower was still operational.

The energy pool of the Mystery of the Night Magic Tower could still squeeze out enough power for the Floating Stairway.

Unlike many mages who, even with Floating Stairways in their side towers, wouldn’t bear to use them.

Resources, are forever the most painful problem in this world... but also stops most mages from feeling embarrassed due to frugality.

”Gilbert, didn’t expect you’d come out for such a trivial matter.” Oliva, sitting at the front left of the hall, waved, ”The teacher won’t come for another half an hour!

Come over and sit.

Hmm?

You actually advanced to the Seven Rings?”

”Ah... that’s really good!” Aislin, sitting opposite him, also started laughing.

”Hmm?” Gilbert said with a cold expression, ”My advancement isn’t much of a surprise, is it?

My spiritual power has long been sufficient, just not fully utilized before.

As for why I came?

Wasn’t it Aislin who sent me the invitation?

My student had been in a dilemma for quite a while!”

”Aislin!” Oliva sighed, ”Did you relapse into your old habits again?

Why?

Has Gilbert’s female student become outstanding enough to catch your eye?”

Soon, whispers of discussion filled the hall... most had suffered at the hands of this female mage.
