Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 190: Chapter 30 Spencer Queues for a Feast - 2

There were always fools who thought that if you had a legend in hand, everything would be all right. Legends also have worldly desires, haven’t they all already reached the Capital?

Spencer watched as piles of meat on the ground diminished, scooped up by players into a kind of ingredient box.

He remembered Fran’s grandson again, unexpectedly a magician, and a Nature System one at that. It was really surprising, especially since he was such a powerful alchemist.

Just like these vacuum boxes made from fragments of Space Crystal, they held a lot, kept things fresh, and the price was not expensive. William’s Alchemy Factory made a fortune as soon as they produced them.

It was said that William had spent a lot of money to buy the exclusive method of making these boxes, collecting all the Space Crystals from that place.

William even sneakily returned halfway to dig up a bunch himself to settle the account.

Mulling over, shifting his attention almost made Spencer drool, but he finally caught sight of the conclusion.

The cripplingly wealthy commander laughed loudly, ”Oh, I really didn’t expect it, not a single piece of meat left! Even the fish skin sold out.

But then again, aside from the bluefin tuna, one was squid and the other a sea bass, and they are delicious!”

He turned his head to ask a few questions, then spoke again, ”The beach has been tidied up!

We’ve built a food street right next to it!

Here’s a box, inside are the stall numbers assigned. Those who want to set up a stand, please come draw your number!

Of course, the best spot, we’ve reserved for our own seafood pot! Just bring your bowl, and you can fill it up!

This is our gift to you, from us, the permanent residents of this city.”

Spencer watched as several dozen clan leaders from big families, who had come to aid, discussed something on the side, probably about splitting the money to go shopping.

The image on the screen began moving, finally resting on the heights of the food street. Members of the Undead Tribe, quick to the task, had already started making a feast.

The camera swept over the entire street, noticing most were still cleaning the fish. It finally stopped at a huge pot in the middle.

”This is our ’Youth Journey of the Wenjian World’, specially ordered from Hill, the big hotpot!” a crisp female voice rang out, sounding very proud, ”Initially, with that octopus, I wanted to make a seafood pot for everyone, but sadly we didn’t have a pot big enough!

Though octopus balls are tasty, a life without a seafood pot is incomplete!

Indeed, with the right preparation, you can achieve great results!”

She paused, apparently looking at something, then suddenly spoke anxiously, ”No! Although Young Master is the clan leader, he does not meddle in our affairs!

Back when this family was formed, not many from University Town were coming here, so they all joined!

Later, when most people joined, they just followed in the footsteps of their elders, not even aware of what happened initially!

Moreover, Young Master’s group from the art school, and those of us from Ocean University and culinary schools, don’t really speak the same language.”

She paused a second, then continued responding, ”Young Master will definitely be here! He just doesn’t want to deal with management! He went straight into the Defensive Knights’ Order.

Such an interesting event, how could he miss out!

We from Wenjian have almost fully mobilized!”

Her camera immediately pointed at the massive seafood pot, ”Your focus is really strange! Shouldn’t this be the most important thing? See those chefs by the side of the pot?

They are our school’s teachers, all at master level!

In this world, though the seafood is larger, it’s no different from ours!

The taste is the same, just even more delicious.

A lot of our school’s teachers have come, and this is a rare opportunity to continuously work with top-grade ingredients!”

In the screen, the seafood pot was already shrouded in mist, bubbling as huge fish bones turned over, along with frozen tofu, dried tofu, kelp, napa cabbage, and sea cabbage.

”See that? Frozen tofu! It doesn’t exist in this world, but following our practices, it was easy to make! All the teachers know Water Magic, so it’s very simple to make dishes that need freezing!”

The chefs were processing other ingredients at the next table.

A large inhale sounded from the camera: ”That smells so good! The sauce our chef is frying!

It truly is a blessing for those who love spicy food.”

She chuckled and said, ”See the partition next to it? We’ll put it up once the soup base is ready! We are preparing a twin flavor hot pot!” She took another inhale, ”Oh, this aroma, it’s such a pity you can’t smell it.”

”Ah! Adding the garnish!” exclaimed the commentator, ”Is it almost ready to eat?”

Crabs, full to the brim, were tossed in, common ones gathered from the shore, about the size of a face; Spencer had tasted ones prepared by the Undead Tribe, and they were quite delicious.

But here, they were just garnishes.

There were also heaps of small squid and smaller lobsters, all dumped in recklessly.

After a few minutes, the curved partition was also put in, the chef flung a large basin of fiery red sauce into it, causing the soup in that half of the pot to roil vigorously, emitting a tantalizing glow.

”Our commander said, even though these are just trimmings, everyone can go ahead and have a bowl to fill their stomachs before getting back to work!”

Spencer distinctly heard this lady gulp audibly, having swiftly descended to the edge of the pot, she tied a tablet directly over her head and lined up with a bowl.

”Ah! That’s the meat from the tail of a sea bass, the bones already picked clean and fried in oil for a bit. Just a short boil in the soup and it will be deliciously tender. This type of fish meat really absorbs the broth!” the commentator continued with her duty, ”And the squid, already cut and marinated, both of these need to be cooked, so they were added early.”

She hopped around watching the pot, people lining up in front and behind her fidgeting restlessly, the sound of salivating non-stop.

”Ah!” she screamed, ”Even tuna is going in! Looks like the belly part! Along with king crab and large lobster!”

Spencer watched as the chef placed plates with these ingredients aside, grabbed a colander, and said, ”Listen up! Directly say if you want the spicy pot or the mild pot!

These three types of seafood, each person can have three pieces, choose which kind you want, if you don’t specify, then it defaults to having all three kinds!

Alright! The first one!”

The commentator was sixth in line, stomping in place impatiently, hopping around.

When her turn finally came, she quickly raised her large bowl over her head: ”Spicy pot! Want them all! More, please!”

For the Undead Tribe, what’s called a bowl could almost fit a meal for four people.

Spencer watched as two crabs, two lobsters, heaps of squid and vegetables fell into the bowl first, followed by three pieces of squid chunks and three pieces of sea bass tail, the soup ladle filling the bowl with broth and then the colander gently shook three times, lightly sprinkling those three types of meat on top of the vegetable pile, not letting the meats slide into the broth.

The commentator stretched her arms out holding the bowl, bowed respectfully, walked to the side, completely disregarding the people watching via the tablet on her head, sat down on a long stone bench behind the stall, and buried her face in the huge bowl, blissfully eating with two chopsticks.

She quickly devoured the tuna meat, exclaiming after finishing it.

Then rapidly consumed the king crab, exclaiming again.

She smacked her lips, stuffed the lobster meat into her mouth, drawing out a prolonged, melodious moan.

Holding a bowl bigger than her head, she sipped the broth gently, joyfully exclaimed, ”This is so delicious~”

Spencer thought he could resist the tempting seafood pot for a while, but now, without needing William’s urging, he dashed to the kitchen, found a large soup pot, completely disregarding that it was for cooking for everyone at the Lord’s Mansion, and hurried out to join the queue.

What’s the sense in watching that silly girl keep eating?

Tasting it yourself is what truly matters!

At the huge pot’s edge, stood sixteen chefs, each with a queue from the center of the gourmet street stretching to the edge of the city, Spencer leaped into the air for a quick survey, carefully choosing a line that seemed a bit shorter.

He blocked out the murmuring of the nearby Undead Tribe, who were just curious that a local was also lining up.

If you’re brave enough, try not collecting military exploits from me! See who dares chase him away!
