Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 187: Chapter 29: Lobster, King Crab and Tuna

The assault of the sea monsters always began with an overwhelming deluge.

Gigantic waves, reaching a kilometer high, smashed into the city almost instantaneously, while City Lord Spencer took shelter in an underground bunker, watching the live broadcast of the Undead, clenching his teeth and bowing his head, closing his eyes.

Was the city he had worked so conscientiously to build about to be destroyed?

However, the laughter of the Undead caught him by surprise, prompting him to look up: Tens of thousands of Undead Mages, standing in rows behind several ranks of Knights bearing Great Shields, had frozen the wave into a kilometer-high Ice Wall.

This was what Spencer admired most about the Undead Tribe: how did they manage to cast spells simultaneously?

They continued shouting, anxiously casting Freeze, hurrying to transform the seawater into ice.

Behind the Ice Wall lurked a colossal Sea Turtle, over 100 meters tall, with a large gaping mouth and a fierce expression.

Yet, the Undead were fearless, for they were allied forces brought by the Youth Journey of the Wenjian World family.

Those who had fought demons and ventured into the Abyss would not find this Sea Turtle particularly terrifying.

Even the large fish, ranging from tens to several tens of meters in height, only excited these Undead who had missed the previous Octopus Feast even more.

In just a moment, they had come up with hundreds of recipes.

Spencer heard them ferociously say, ”We absolutely cannot let that giant lobster get away!”

”My goodness! Such a huge king crab! How much roe must it have?”

”Look at that tuna! I want its belly! Be careful when you fight; just hit the head!”

”Back off! Who doesn’t want it! Both the large belly and the middle belly are delicacies we cannot afford to spoil, so be careful!”

”I want it bare!”

Spencer could not help but follow the Undead’s camera to watch the giant tuna swimming back and forth among the troops, occasionally turning its head to glance at the Undead outside the Ice Wall, seemingly sensing the deep cold.

The Demigod Sea Turtle seemed to be struggling to convert the Ice Wall back to water, but as powerful as it was, it could only melt the half directly in front of it each time. The quick-handed and quick-eyed Undead, each equipped with Mana Potions, swiftly repaired the Ice Wall. The demigod seemed to not want to concede to the will of the Undead and avoided breaking through.

The other legendary sea monsters also swam to a distance, trying to see if they could circumvent the wall, but they had raised the waves that now spared no stretch of the city’s coast.

Unless absolutely necessary, no fish wanted to walk overland.

Spencer watched as more and more people dressed in Mage Robes, who were clearly Swordsmen, gathered and crouched behind the defending Knights, pretending to stretch their hands out to cast spells.

The style of the broadcast he was watching gradually shifted, slowly focusing on the parts of the sea monsters that tasted the best.

Spencer took a closer look to confirm that the broadcast directed by the command at the seaside was indeed the Undead, he had not made a mistake.

Isn’t the world of the Undead like a schoolteacher? Can that be reliable?

As he watched, the Ice Wall, which originally resembled the shape of frozen waves, gradually evolved into a city wall, a hundred meters thick and a kilometer high, under the tug-of-war from both sides.

The Demigod Sea Turtle finally could not contain its fury. It emitted a sharp cry that gave Spencer, far below in the bunker, a headache and ringing in his ears.

Watching the Undead quickly duck and cover their heads, the Demigod Sea Turtle proudly melted a kilometer-long section of the Ice Wall in front of it in one breath, leading the legendary sea creatures, releasing countless ice knives and water cannons.

But, the brief delay was enough for the Undead to react. The Knights instantly raised their Giant Shields, forming a shield formation.

The front row of Knights was nearly wiped out, but still, the next two rows stubbornly held their ground.

The three tiers of shield formations seemed almost playful to them.

Spencer, observing the sales of hundreds of thousands of shields imbued with Frost Barrier Spells during this time, felt somewhat bewildered.

He always thought that William allowing those Mage-Level Alchemists to madly refine such single-purpose defensive shields was a sheer waste of resources, even if their skills improved; how could it matter?

Many Mages might know only one or two spells; what kind of Alchemists could they nurture?

But now, Spencer somewhat understood; the Undead could truly use all of them?

He finally realized that, for someone like himself, a Sky Knight, a shield both powerful and comprehensive was indeed useful.

Although he now also possessed a Space Ring given by His Majesty the King, the deeply ingrained pursuit of powerful shields was hard to change.

The Undead were different; they had had space pouches from the start, already accustomed to the practice of switching shields at the front lines.

They kept five or six shields in their pouches, whose combined cost might not even reach a quarter of the price of Spencer’s treasured shield.

A vision of tens of millions, and possibly even billions of Undead emerged in his mind. Thinking of how great their demand would be, he deeply understood why William urgently demanded the nurture of Alchemists and set up many factories.

Alchemists like Master Fran were indeed important, but there was also a significant shortage of ordinary Alchemists now!

Spencer bowed his head quietly, remembering William’s request for him to persuade his close friend Adrian to visit the school in the Capital to see those young Alchemy Apprentices. Suddenly, it seemed somewhat necessary.

Watching the Knights who had just resurrected, carrying shields and running to stand in the back of the shield formation, laughing, Spencer felt there was indeed no need to worry.
