Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 166: Chapter 20 All Set, Just Awaiting the Guest

Hill sat on the bench, with the rumbling construction sound of Earth Elementals building behind him, and in front, a giant screen was playing all kinds of bizarre news. It suddenly gave him the feeling of being back in the commercial district, sitting on the curb watching the big screen.

But Hill’s heart no longer harbored the sadness of the past. Over the years, his nostalgia had faded more and more, with Fran’s importance in his heart deepening time and again, finally surpassing those ephemeral feelings.

Hill understood why Fran insisted on conducting demon research in Hill’s Domain. One reason was the Undead Tribe, which had publicly announced its intention to deliver these things to Hill, and by now most people should know this news.

As for matters related to demons, Hill couldn’t possibly keep them to himself only, as that would arouse public anger.

Another reason was, if the research were conducted in Hill’s Domain, as the lord, Hill only needed to provide the location and necessary materials and equipment. All research findings had to be shared with Hill.

Fran had no plans to invite the Legendary, so Hill’s Domain, with three Magisters as support, was not a place many would dare violate the contracts they had personally signed.

Fran truly didn’t want Hill to deal with Demon Text. After all, as a Nature System Magician, Hill was likely to face more dangers than others. But Fran also couldn’t bear it; after Hill faced so many dangers, he had little to show for it.

So Fran decisively placed the research center in Hill’s Domain.

As for experimental equipment, for Fran, that was truly the least noteworthy concern.

Even Adrian wouldn’t have any reaction to this, after all, what the Undead Tribe acknowledged was only Hill, not Fran and him.

Besides, Adrian was never the type to fuss over such things.

Before the first rays of dawn shone down, the Lord’s Mansion behind Hill had been remodeled.

Hill looked at the Earth Elementals, who were cheerfully claiming Attributeless Crystals from List, and couldn’t help but laugh.

Before he set off to inscribe the Purification Array, he had List inquire whether any Treants still wanted to come out.

He looked up at the square, and decided that large trees could be planted all around the square.

Hill planned to inscribe Nature System Purification Arrays beneath the square’s surface and summon Forest Arrays on both sides of the roads leading to the villagers and players’ residences.

Once the Forest Array was summoned, even if Hill was in Hill’s Domain’s Magic Tower, he would only need to expend one-tenth of his Mana to maintain the existence of the Spell.

If the Array Core were a wise tree like a Beech, the amount of Mana Hill needed to expend would be even less.

But once it became the core of a Forest Array, the Treant wouldn’t be able to move until Hill canceled the Spell.

Therefore, Hill instructed List to make it clear to the Treants that only those willing to stand in one place for a long time could become the core of the Forest Array.

After Hill finished inscribing the Purification Array inside the Lord’s Mansion and came out, he was surprised to find that more than 20 Treants had come out.

He looked up at the small Light Ords of the Wood Element hiding among the Treants and sighed helplessly.

”Hill, for us Treants, it is rare to see so many Mages without any danger,” the Great Oak said slowly. ”You see, normally if we want to come out, it takes us a whole day.

Now, to seize the opportunity, everyone has sped up.”

Hill, ruffling his hair, decided to pile up a Forest Array in every corner of the square, so there wouldn’t be any concern even if some bold Mage dared to harm the Treants.

After all, looking at the pleading little faces of the Light Ords, Hill knew that he could not hold back their curiosity.

Hill didn’t want to look at the Wood Elemental Chief’s happy face atop the Great Oak.

”But once this Forest Array is summoned, it can’t be casually cancelled,” Hill carefully explained to the Treants and Wood Elementals, ”With Wood Elementals around, I don’t need to use too much Magical Power to maintain the Array, but the Mana needed for summoning is very huge, and even drinking Mana Potions, I can only summon it four times a day.”

The Treants had no objections; it wasn’t as if they couldn’t return, and this period was nothing for them, less than the time for a nap.

Hill arranged for the Great Oak to be placed in the direction leading to the residential area; it was the strongest, and the Wood Elemental Chief never left it.

The girls in Hill’s Domain were not beautiful, the strongest among them was only a Knight.

However, there were many Magicians who had given up on advancement, more crazy than the most debauched Nobles, and because they were Magicians, they had a strong ability to conceal themselves.

Hill had no intention of using the residents of his own territory to test the tendencies of the Mages’ Factions.

If, despite such clear precautions on Hill’s part, someone still made a move, it would be a provocation against Hill, and he could rightfully kill them on the spot.

After killing that Demon, Hill felt that he could absolutely chop someone down with his eyes closed.

He arranged for all the Oak-type Treants to be here. With the Great Oak present, it could at least somewhat control them.

After a Forest Array was summoned, Hill’s Mana Bar dropped by more than half. Chugging Juice, he had a familiar sense of resignation.

Reaching the main street leading to the players’ residences, Hill placed the Thorn-type Treants here, and the summoned forests all came with sharp spikes.

If there were still Mages who wandered into it, then even if the players killed them, Hill wouldn’t need to intervene.
