Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 141: The 9th Chapter: Fighting Demons Ahead, Getting Attacked From Behind_2

”I refuse to believe Baldy’s two didn’t catch everything on camera!”

So you all take pleasure in Baldy having the tables turned on himself?

”It’s not a big deal,” Baby Guai said. ”Those three have been at it for years; the whole Alliance knows.

Mobi Chen is much more behaved now, he doesn’t dare to chase girls in this world anymore.

Fenmo is okay, she’s just angry with Mobi Chen himself, but Paintbrush, she could definitely bomb both Mobi Chen and the girl he’s with to death.

Doesn’t everyone have friends? Now, as soon as a new girl comes along, even if she’s slightly interested in Mobi Chen, someone will immediately enlighten her with the common sense.

Well, it’s either Mobi Chen ends up with Paintbrush in the end, or he will have to return to our world, right?”

”So you would choose Fenmo?” Brother Guai asked in surprise.

”Mobi Chen has never kept a secret about where he is.” Baby Guai gave Brother Guai a sideways glance. ”Despite men thinking Fenmo is a catch, in the end, it’s either Paintbrush wins, or Mobi Chen moves out.”

She concluded, ”No matter how fickle Mobi Chen is, he has a conscience. He’s not planning to toy with Paintbrush. It’s just a matter of who holds out longer now.”

Brother Guai steered the conversation back on track, ”Don’t worry, we’ve been prepared for a while. The mages we left to stand guard are all from the Water and Earth elements.”

Baby Guai laughed and joined in, ”After all, we need to cover the lid!”

No sooner had she finished speaking than the lid above them was smashed in, and thousands of figures fell through.

Brother Guai shouted, ”Shit, this gang of bastards! It must be the Guild Deserters attacking. Baby Guai, hurry!”

He turned back and urged, ”Hide well! Mr. Hill! They won’t stop at this!”

Indeed, people were already plummeting down.

Sensing the tense atmosphere, the Beech quickly transferred Hill downward, and its roots tightly bunched up, protecting the area where Hill was located.

Sitting in the chair, Hill felt an absurdity from the depths of his heart: in the midst of a devastating demon invasion, his greatest enemy turned out to be from his own faction, the Undead Tribe.

He held onto the Beech’s core and connected with it in his Mental Sea. Although the tree’s vision was somewhat blurred, it was enough for Hill to see the chaotic battlefield.

The Black Rose had once told Hill that every mission completed by their members would increase the guild’s overall military exploits, but if anyone left the guild, half of the military exploits they contributed would be wiped clean.

These tens of thousands of people represented guilds that preferred to forfeit their ranking on the military exploits chart than to let Black and White Path have their way.

Hill just hoped that their attack wasn’t aimed at killing him to damage Snow Cloud Peak.

But for now, their target seemed to be Lord’s Mansion.

Indeed, with Hill under the protection of Snow Cloud Peak’s alliance, if he were killed by a demon or by someone else, nobody could blame them.

Yet, if they openly attacked on such a large scale and killed Hill directly, all the manipulating they had done on the forums would come crashing down on their own heads.

After thinking it over, Hill started to reinforce his magic again. He suspected if these attackers couldn’t take down Lord’s Mansion, they would dismantle the walls.

Hill certainly didn’t want to end up being killed by a demon while merely watching the chaos unfold.

Fenmo Wuxin had already closed the gates of Lord’s Mansion.

And the players defending the city had almost all died once and then revived together, making their way back into Lord’s Mansion through the tunnels.

Snow Cloud Peak sure likes to use tunnels for command. When Mobi Chen first built Lord’s Mansion and the church, Hill hadn’t noticed any underground work being done.

Hill suspected it was his own Earth Element Lord, during the time he was moving around underground, who helped them build it.

After all, it was only during that period that Hill had not paid attention to the elemental fluctuations coming from below.

Frankly, unless there is a very powerful shielding force, underground tunnels and the like are completely exposed to Hill.

Hill felt something was off.

But he didn’t intend to step out to check. The Beech must have coordinated with the Earth Element Lord at some point, as Hill could feel the roots he was in were placed inside a very secure underground chamber.

The stone walls outside, sturdier than Obsidian and filled with Earth Series Element, were tightly enveloped by the other roots of the Beech, slowing the extension of Hill’s spiritual power.

Moreover, Hill didn’t like to use his spiritual power to scan other people’s territory—it was too impolite.

But Hill had his doubts, certain that Snow Cloud Peak wouldn’t have just created a resurrection point that led directly to the Lord’s Mansion.

When they decided to place their alliance’s resurrection point so far away from other players’, they must have been prepared for sneak attacks.

Yet the defense battle commanded by Fenmo Wuxin was proving to be grueling, and Hill couldn’t figure out what they were waiting for.

Spells flew across the sky as nearby areas were left in shambles except for Adrian’s grocery store, which was the sole remaining structure.

Hill thought that Paintbrush Wuxin would probably go mad with rage upon his return, having taken undeserved flack from Miss Carl, and now their house had been handed over for nothing.

The full might of the Forest Array was unleashed, with branches raised high and wood shields linked together.

The beech could use all of Hill’s wood skills, but the consumption was enormous.

This shield array was originally intended to defend against demons breaching their territory, but now, it was unexpectedly used to guard against stray player shots.

The attacking players certainly didn’t care if they accidentally killed Hill; as long as it wasn’t an intentional kill, they wouldn’t fear any public backlash.

After all, they could argue, who knew if the defending alliance hadn’t assigned someone to protect Hill? Who pays attention to an NPC standing by during a battle?

Hill could only quickly note down the names, and hand them to Srei, instructing him to add these troublemakers to the territorial ban list next time he was in contact with List.

William could only make the names of players attacking these NPCs turn black and red for one month as a consequence.

However, if someone flung a boulder that happened to crush a friendly NPC, the players would only face a one-month ban from logging on.

For NPCs like Hill and Fran with hubs given by the God of Time and Space, the ability to deny certain players entry was the best option available.

The nobles who staunchly defended their own lands were actually tormented terribly by the players.

’It wasn’t on purpose’ had almost become a fine art in the hands of some players.

Hill’s earth elementals had no inclination to engage in the war, and upon confirming that Hill needed no assistance, they started rebuilding the walls.

Hill swiftly instructed them to burrow back to the Forest Array if they were attacked by the Undead Tribe.

Being summoned by Hill, they could directly enter the defense radius of the Forest Array.

Perhaps due to the abundance of water mages? The players who were left behind wielded the Ice Ring skill proficiently. Coupled with the earth walls raised by earth mages, the already confined battleground further segmented the enemy forces.

Their swordsmen kept charging in, penetrating the isolated segments of enemies and executing the Swordsman’s ultimate move, Sword Shakes the Eight Directions.

Although they slaughtered countless foes, they themselves never returned.

Hill always felt that players used the swordsman profession as if they were assassins, favoring a mutually destructive fighting style.

Native swordsmen would learn numerous life-saving skills, which, however, were rarely seen among players.

They only chose the most powerful offensive skills paired with some crowd control abilities.

Fenmo Wuchen hadn’t made an appearance, but it seemed like the Lord’s Mansion was being constantly repaired.

Maybe the Lord’s Mansion also had a health bar? Hill noticed that each time it seemed about to collapse, a burst of golden light would flash, and then the structure would endure.

Despite an attacking force of 50,000, they couldn’t break through the defense of a few thousand men at the Lord’s Mansion, and the attackers seemed to be getting desperate.

Soon, like dumplings in boiling water, a dense shower of people began to rain down from the sky.

Although those near the Lord’s Mansion tried to avoid it, many were still crushed to death by their own comrades.

Hill heard a cocky laugh, ”Are you here to make jokes? Bombarding your own people?”

”Nie Xingchen, stop hiding inside and acting cheap! If you’ve got guts, come out and fight!”

No wonder the voice sounded familiar; the Black Rose seemed to have mobilized their entire army.

”Hey, Universal Sky Net, have these people run out of dirty tricks to pull while others are fighting for their lives, discarding all shame?”

”Romantic Drunk Red Dust, are the snacks all handed out?”

Hill couldn’t help laughing for a moment.
