Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 129: Chapter 3: Well-organized Battle Scenes_2

Hill gazed at the purposely cleared space that was over a meter tall and 2 square meters in size, and gently touched the tree wall to express his gratitude.

Feeling the beech’s happy and pleased response, he took out a lounge chair, chugged a glass of green gemstone juice, and slumped onto the chair, his body feeling sour and limp.

The considerate beech, making the bark in front of Hill transparent, allowed him to lay back and still be able to see outside.

After the Water Elemental Lord arrived, he happily rushed towards the players’ defenses. Hill had asked Fenmo Wuxin, and she had seen them as a friendly faction, so she couldn’t attack.

His towering figure was warmly welcomed by a group of priests: Hidden behind him, they could heal without the need to dodge incoming damage.

Snow Cloud Peak stood on the roof of the Lord’s Mansion with a few people, commanding the battle. Even from such a distance, Hill could hear his endless roars.

At first, it was a bit chaotic; if someone was slow to take their position, Snow Cloud Peak would curse at them by their guild leader’s name.

But what’s most terrifying about players is that once they establish a rhythm, they can defend and counter-attack smoothly.

Hill had been worried that they might use Fire Element Magic, but they quickly switched to freeze-type spells instead.

The Water Elemental Lord joyfully tossed water balls into the sky, which upon hitting the ground, were turned into large patches of ice by the players, preventing even the demons who managed to slide up to the frontlines from breaking through the Sky Knights’ defenses.

And every 30 minutes, regardless of whether the front line knights still had stamina, they would quickly swap out, standing firm until the end, relying on the forest’s detoxifying and restorative powers.

A line of knights, a line of swordsmen, all moved in unison. Even if someone was slow to react, as long as they followed their nearby companions, there was no problem.

Sui Chen charged into the forest: ”Mr. Hill, could you please summon more Water Elementals? They’re quite useful.

Why can our Water Mages’ Water Elementals only throw water balls or shoot ice arrows one at a time?”

”That’s Legendary!” Hill said helplessly, ”I can only summon Mage Level Water Elementals now; this Lord exists by relying on my magic power.”

Sui Chen turned around, unable to locate Hill: ”That will do. Any Water Elemental is needed right now.”

”I’m hiding inside the tree.” Hill said leisurely, glancing at the Legendary Puppet that stood unmoving on a branch, ”Don’t worry about my safety. I have a puppet nearby if anything happens.”

Hill began to summon a large number of Water Elementals. Apart from that Lord, who required a prolonged output of his magic power, the others could be summoned with just a set amount of Crystal Stones.

There are no secrets in the Elemental World, and Hill’s Earth Elemental Overlord often trades with the Elemental Realm through that spatial rift.

They can collect their payments just after projecting their presence there.

Having exhausted his mana once more, Hill took out a row of green gemstone juice and collapsed onto the chair.

It wasn’t the critical moment yet, and Hill didn’t dare to consume a Mana Potion, so the juice restored his strength much slower.

At times like this, he envied the players’ bodies that had no resistance to potions!

As soon as the Water Elementals appeared, they were taken away by the Command Group. It seemed that, aside from those commanding, the only ones moving around were priests.

The priests didn’t seem too stressed, which meant everything was still under the players’ control.

Hill suddenly understood and was grateful: the God of Nobility had killed all the players in the underground lair. Snow Cloud Peak and his rivals could only resurrect elsewhere. Here, they were either their own people or the Scattered Ones.

He sighed in relief. Creatures like players, unless they faced a super boss, would only lose to the betrayal of their own kind when fighting lesser foes.

Hill was so tense, not because of demons, but because of enemy players. Knowing that people from Black and White Path had taken on the task to ensure his safety, Hill could imagine what they might do.

As long as they were vigilant against Spy attacks, large-scale killings were unlikely to happen, which was a relief.

Hill began to drink his juice contentedly.

Hill had noticed that Snow Cloud Peak had quietly dispatched squads of swordsmen few times under the guise of asking for the Scattered Ones’ support. They had secretly gathered hundreds of swordsmen who were now hiding within Hill’s forest.

After several such instances, Snow Cloud Peak strictly prohibited anyone from entering Hill’s forest. Instead, they were to wait outside for purification and recovery.

To use Hill as bait—what an idea! Hill thought moodily. Were there really spies that foolish?

Well, there actually were. Hill watched as two players sneaked and darted into the forest.

They harbored hostility towards Hill and yet dared to enter his forest, almost instantly being detected by the beech.

Dense Forest Stars—such a nice name for a spell that transforms mana into countless illusory leaves clinging to the trees, ready to fire at a moment’s notice upon enemy contact. Hill handed over control of the spell to the Forest Array’s Core: the beech.

Hill commanded the branches to gently tap Nie Xingchen, who was squatting behind his tree, ”Do you need me to make a move?”

Nie Xingchen covered his mouth and jumped up, shaking his head vigorously.

The swordsman looked at the branch tapping him with a look of panic and fiercely tapped on his tablet while squatting on the ground: Did Hill transform into a tree? He’s asking me if he should act, and it’s a branch!, it can even nod!

”Are you stupid? He’s obviously a magician! He knows natural spells! Probably hiding in a tree somewhere! You didn’t let him act on his own, did you? His moves are all big ones, we need to save them,” Hill carefully watched and the one replying on the tablet was Snow Cloud Peak.

”No, no, no! Isn’t he a summoning mage? How’s he a magician now?”

”Do I really need to clear up your confusion? We’ll talk after the fight!”

Hill actually laughed out loud.

Nie Xingchen’s body stiffened, as if he had just realized that since Hill could tap him, he might be right beside him.

Hill had already seen the last message from Snow Cloud Peak on his tablet: ”You’re not dumb enough to leave the ’visible only to myself’ option turned off, are you?”

He hadn’t turned it off. Hill silently answered in his heart.

Nie Xingchen charged out abruptly, striking fiercely and boldly took the lead, slaying two undercover agents with his group.

Then he stealthily switched to hiding behind another tree.

Hill really didn’t have the heart to tell him that as long as he wished, Hill could see every corner of the forest, just by resonating with the beech tree.

However, Hill wouldn’t be so bored to do that, especially since the first thing Nie Xingchen did after moving spots was to turn on the ’visible only to myself’ option.

And most of the swordsmen in the forest were touching their tablets and tapping away, probably already aware, and were turning off their screens.

Hill lay back, bored, and continued to summon to drink juice.

He thought that after killing two, no one would come anymore, but these swordsmen didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving.

Sure enough, the longtime old rival knew better, as one by one, more swordsmen kept popping out.

A swordsman from Black and White Path moved under Hill’s tree: ”They are not like us, even as undercover agents they do not communicate with each other, no one knows who anyone is.”

”Can’t you still contact the outside?”

”How should I put it?” he pondered for a moment, ”If my people fail, why should yours remain? Their mindset is very different.”

”They have a coalition of interests, which is very different from ours.”

”You still have people left outside, don’t you?” Hill suddenly remembered.

”Yes, do you have any orders, Mr. Hill?”

”Go to my lord’s mansion, and play that recording of yours for List to see,” Hill said quietly, ”I hope it can last until the end. List will reward you.”

”No problem, if there’s a task, there will definitely be someone to do it.”

”Then I thank you.”

Hill didn’t know if Fran and Adrian would go to watch, but at least List would tell them if he knew.

The ten or so players in Hill’s Domain preferred to squat in the domain and decorate their houses, seemingly indifferent to the tumults outside, resolute in their own quiet world. At this time, they were completely useless.

Moreover, Hill watched the few people assigned by Snow Cloud Peak who were broadcasting live from the rooftop of the lord’s mansion: firsthand information is always more appealing.

”Mr. Hill,” the swordsman came over again.

”What is it?”

”Could you summon a few higher-level earth elementals? Snow Cloud Peak is worried demons might come from underground and wants the earth elementals to fortify it.”

”I can.”

Hill had actually already summoned a few, but they were only enough to stabilize his own area, as the area near the roots needed guarding.

When he connected with the Elemental Realm, an earth element lord responded almost excitedly: Hill remembered this one, the legendary lord who had opened a spatial rift in his domain.
