Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 127: Chapter 2 The Flag Was Not Raised in Vain_2

The Chef Puppet used even more Crystal Stones, which were an unnecessary expenditure for Mages.

Hill looked at the Alliance Hierarch who stood there with a forced smile, not leaving, and suddenly realized, ”List has run out of stock?”

”Yes. More and more people are coming, and we’re running out of chefs. Mr. Hill, please, we really need food,” Snow Cloud Peak pleaded. ”If they have to cook their own meat, they’re going to revolt.”

”I’ll write to List,” said Hill after thinking, ”He must have some surplus, but he’s been busy lately and doesn’t want to waste energy.

Twenty at most, can you manage that?”

”Of course, of course!” Snow Cloud Peak was overjoyed. ”I’ll have someone go and buy them right away.” He eagerly watched Hill finish the letter and snatched it as soon as it was done.

His own concerns were life itself; theirs was the lack of food. Hill found it utterly absurd.

Hill clutched the pendant at his chest. ”Srei, can you contact List from inside?”

”The signal is weak,” Srei replied, ”but it’s possible, I’m always connected.”

”I’ll leave it to you then, tell List not to worry about me. Say something on my behalf to grandfather.”

”Sir, don’t you plan to return?”

”Only the first batch,” Hill replied firmly, ”Even the Legendary won’t be there; I can’t possibly run away like this.”

”I’ll leave the Legendary Puppet here,” said Srei worriedly. ”Summon it anytime, sir.”

”Are demons even faster than me?” Hill said dismissively, ”I can definitely escape.”

”The elements are also inside, don’t you want to release a few?”

”No, I’ll summon phantoms from the Elemental Realm. If real trouble comes, they won’t be able to fly. Dissipating once could affect their advancement.”

”Then sir, start summoning now!”

Hill looked up and saw, after hesitating for so long, Miss Carl finally decided to fly away.

But before she could leave, the Paintbrush stopped her.

Hill pressed his forehead: At this time, Paintbrush is still thinking about that house!

Miss Carl, looking disdainful, threw a key to the Paintbrush and turned to fly into the sky.

The Paintbrush lightly tossed the key in his hand, watching Carl fly away with a peculiar look.

Hill watched as she took some female players and threw out everything inside and outside that house, lighting it all on fire.

Then she tossed both the core and the key into the flames as well.

Hill silently closed the window, decided to pretend he hadn’t seen anything, and offered a heartfelt silent tribute to Miss Carl.

Dusk was upon them, the hour of demons.

Feeling the earth shake, Hill sighed sincerely.

The players shouted, ”It’s coming out! It’s coming out!”

”More people, ah! So many!”

”Why are they so ugly!” It seemed someone was live-streaming below.

Hill watched as players came in groups to replenish their potions before heading back down to the tunnels.

They were happy, thinking it was a new plot line from the game officials for the old players.

To them, risking life and limb was a minor matter.

Even the people of the Black and White Path thought it was because the territory was important, so they launched a high-level siege mode.

But Hill was continuously counting the number of players running down: there were already over 200,000 players in the tunnels.

Even from this distant mountain peak, Hill could smell a faint sulfur scent.

Hill shouted to a passing member of the Black and White Path, ”Please tell Mr. Mobi Chenxin to fully activate the Purification Array.”

”Okay!”

Watching the excited player run off, Hill felt slightly relieved.

Hill sat in the grocery store the whole time, with players running in to ask if he bought demon drops, Hill didn’t know what these drops were but nodded and bought everything. He had them bring the prices directly to him.

Hill looked at a table full of Demon Eyes, Demon Dust, Abyssal Dust, and Spring Water of the Abyss, deeply feeling that the Natural Consciousness was causing trouble. He closed his eyes, clenched his teeth, and set buying prices based on the material grades.

Seeing Hill gathering up the scraps, the Natural Consciousness was almost driven mad, and Hill could only keep muttering, ”This is for Fran,” to gradually calm It down.

He specifically cleared out a small ring, letting the Puppet gather all the demon materials into it, planning to find time tomorrow to send them back to his territory.

Hill felt it truly wasn’t a good day; even the stars in the sky seemed a bit dim.

Even the moon seemed... blood-colored?

What was this?

With a booming sound that shook the heavens and earth and echoed across the sky,

”Arturas! You’re courting death!” As the God of Time and Space roared, a powerful Divine Power cracked through the waves of space, completely inhibiting Hill’s use of mana, and alongside the mountain, he was plunged deep underground.

”Who is Arturas?” Hill heard the Young Master’s roar.

”That bastard God of Nobility!” Paintbrush said in a sharp voice.

Hill exerted all his strength, activating the pendant and releasing the Legendary Swordsman Puppet. The Swordsman quickly picked him up and rushed to an open space.

They almost fell tens of thousands of meters underground. The impact only allowed most players to resurrect once.

Only those in the Lord’s Mansion discussing tactics and the group dining at Paintbrush’s newly opened restaurant were still alive.

”Can’t teleport anymore!”

”See if you can log off?”

”I tried, you can log off, but it says this is a special event, so once you log off, you can only wait until it’s over to return.”

The resurrected players found open ground to stand on and kept discussing.

”Does it say how many days? I might have something to do!”

”No.”

”Then we can only take it day by day.”

”What are the alliance hierarchs doing?” Snow Cloud Peak cursed furiously, ”Gather your own people; you’re scattered like sand, waiting for the monsters to finish you off?”

His tone softened, ”Scattered Ones, form your own groups. Just follow behind the guild groups and fight.”

”Who’s holding Hill?”

”The Legendary Puppet, I guess?”

”He really has one? Why does it look like he’s holding a kid?”

”Can you use mana?”

”Oh, no wonder Hill is so cautious.”

Hill ignored these comments, ears pricked up listening.

The God of Nobility’s voice still audible, ”Cronos, don’t blame me! Your William took control of three countries, expelled all my followers! He’s cutting off my retreat!”

”Don’t make excuses for your despicable acts!” the God of Time and Space was furious, ”William hasn’t killed your followers! There’s no way William would attack the other countries!

You just want to leave quickly! Afraid your church will split! You Evil God!”

”Arturas! Have you really fallen?” a male deity’s voice sounded, ”If you’re fully committed to the dark side, I won’t acknowledge you as one of the divine deities of humans!”

”Flores, you can’t even keep your name as God of Justice, and you want to meddle in more matters?”

The God of Justice was silent for a while, ”I indeed was a coward back then. Under your oppression, I abandoned myself and the support of my own Cronos.

But what I regret the most is turning the word ’justice’ into a mere ’contract.’

My divine power couldn’t grow because my heart didn’t agree.

Only when I ascended to the starry sky did I realize you weren’t that powerful!” His voice grew louder, ”I, Flores, hereby declare that I renounce the title of Justice. From now on, I’ll only be known as Flores, the God of Commerce and Contracts!”

The thunder roared in the sky, and Hill looked up nervously.

There were no signs of any deities falling.

”Indeed, I’ve long lost any real divine authority of justice,” Flores said dejectedly, ”Cronos, I must close the Divine Kingdom, stabilize the divine power. From now on, everything is up to you.”

The God of Time and Space hadn’t spoken, seemingly stunned by the development of events, ”Okay. Our grievances, let them end here.”

William, to be the god of fairness and justice from now on? Hill couldn’t help but think.

A faint female voice arose, ”Arturas, I cannot follow you down this evil path.”

Goddess of Love and Arts Media, perhaps?

”Media, you could have remained silent. Why come out?” The God of Nobility said discontentedly.

”Have you gone mad, Arturas?” another female voice arose.

”Milinna! You can barely maintain your own faction!” The God of Nobility said with a cold laugh, ”Just stay put in your own divine kingdom!”

He’s even scolding the Goddess of the Spring?

Hill really wondered if this year’s journey through the Abyss had indeed damaged the brains of the God of Nobility and Monarchy.

”Mr. Hill, Mr. Hill,” Paintbrush called softly.

”What is it?”

”Who are these two? Why are they so close to the God of Nobility?”

”The Goddess of Love and the Goddess of the Spring,” Hill answered without hesitation.

Now, he didn’t need to worry about being noticed by the deities while speaking. Hill thought irritably: Everyone else here, except myself, is Undead!

Who knows how many eyes are watching me!
