Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 114: Chapter 93 The Unyielding Adrian

To prepare for Adrian’s arrival, Hill delineated a plot of about 500 square meters beneath his shop. The land was originally shaped like an obtuse angle, and on that transverse line, aside from a larger entrance in the center, Hill built a long stone walkway that was a full 8 meters wide.

Over the past year, Hill had created a pathway for purchasing architectural blueprints in his grocery store.

The players were very enthusiastic, realizing that selling any official blueprints that had never appeared before could get them money, they almost sold all the famous architectural blueprints of their own worlds to Hill.

Many buildings evoked endless memories for Hill.

Hill had come to feel more and more over this period that, even though the branches of the river of time differed, parallel spaces always had their similarities.

When the God of Time and Space was searching for himself across various parallel universes, Hill had taken a very close look, it was always China.

Different historical stages differed, but there were always similarities in the modern era, with the five-starred red flag appearing countless times.

It’s probably that the innate resilience and unyielding spirit of the Chinese people made it all too easy for them to embark on this path.

Hill glanced at a few players who had been attracted to his walkway and silently chuckled.

Seeing a chair and wanting to sit is an innate human desire.

Phillips and Hensley, accustomed to high positions, definitely couldn’t envision providing these simple services for players.

The items in Hill Shop were expensive, and there wasn’t a great need to attract ordinary players, but the people Adrian brought to open a grocery store would need them to come in often to see if there was anything they wanted.

When Hill had first gone south, he noticed that in the cities and even larger towns, William had started state-run chains: supply and marketing co-operatives.

And that was simply his choice in times of insufficient manpower.

Though it seemed to be in service of the Undead Tribe, most of the reasonably priced products inside were more practical for ordinary people.

In another year, more people with basic education would emerge, and they would become useful; William could probably expand these co-operatives into the villages.

Once he had control over the basics of people’s livelihoods, what could the Nobles do?

In their eyes, the least useful commoners were the focus of William’s governance.

And the Nobles had yet to realize it.

In a situation where military force is completely useless, commoners are the foundation of society, and in a country where slavery cannot exist, the commoners, with the power to vote with their feet, will teach the Nobles, still fighting for power and profit, the most painful lesson.

Facing William’s inevitably overwhelming chain of stores in the future, player territories appear to be the way out.

Fran had made quite a few large Alchemy Machines for William and understood deeply how cheaply the King would obtain mid to low-level Potions and alchemical products in the future, prompting Fran to retract his merchant caravans back to his territories.

When Hill mentioned it yesterday, Adrian responded quickly, and for this reason: if he could survive and develop in player territories, then Fran’s merchant caravan could continue to operate; otherwise, there would be no need to hire more apprentices.

Hill sat by the window, quietly listening to the players who had already arrived and sat down in the corridor, chatting loudly.

It seemed Hensley’s shop followed the traditional Magic Shop model: stocked with an ample number of Magic Books and Magic Scrolls, as well as items like Alchemical Bombs. There were very few Mana and Health Potions. The players were a bit critical, finding them not very practical for their needs. And as for everyday necessities, those were completely absent.

While Hill Shop did have these items, they were all alchemical products, costly, and many people might prefer to stock up on large quantities of single-use items rather than buying something they could use frequently. To some extent, this could also be considered a luxury; one that was likely enough to last these players for decades.

Everything will be better once Adrian arrives. Although mainly focused on purchasing, Adrian would surely set up his shop as a standard grocery store.

”Is the Young Master still below?” Hill heard someone ask loudly, ”Did he get overly stimulated?”

”He’s probably trying to maintain his position in the top ten of the level rankings,” someone responded with a chuckle, ”It might not be of much use, but if he’s happy, that’s good enough.”

Another person burst out laughing: ”I think the Old Age Striking King probably wants to kill him, who made them have only one Priest, right?”

”Those from Black Rose aren’t willing to leave either, what can you do about that?” ”They’re probably coming up soon; both their helpers have arrived, right? There will be people willing to exchange; after all, the Young Master is leading at the front, killing more and gaining more experience.

With so many Knights around at last, there are finally people to block the monsters!”

”No helping it, we’re Mages with not enough stamina; I wouldn’t be coming up here if I had enough,” one said wistfully, ”There are more people now; by the time we’ve rested, maybe the monsters will all be dead.”

”Having a place like this to farm monsters isn’t bad,” his companion answered, ”That Haifasardo is definitely becoming the newbie village. Didn’t you see the announcement? That experience and level, it’s of no use to us.”

Damn William!

Hill listened with bated breath as the players cursed without any reservations, glancing in the direction of Kloster, his heart filled with sympathy for William. At this moment, Hill profoundly sensed that William’s existence held deep significance for the God of Time and Space.

Another group of people came up from the mountain base. They hustled directly into Hensley’s shop and quickly came back out, struggling toward Hill Shop.
